Kind of Bummed

Tomorrow is my birthday and my best friend was going to cook dinner and have a little party for me. She just called. Her husband just came down with the flu so the party is off. Now just me and Pete. No family (I am an orphan) so I am kind of bummed out. I hate my birthday. Everything is always closed, everyone is always broke, and the holiday blahs have set in.

Any good restaurants open on New Year's? I want to treat myself!

Well, you could do like Alice and her friends, and have a non-brithday party at a later date. OR....I try to celebrate for a whole week, so if nothing special happens on the actual DAY there's still stuff going on.

That little cutie looks like he could keep his mom happy on her special day, why don't the two of you just spend the day playing....no chores, no errands....just play.

Well Happy Birthday!! It happens to be my Wedding Anniversary and even though it comes at the end of the holiday season, I love it!! You almost always have the day off (depending on what industry you work in), there is always a celebration the night before, and yes many restaurants are open on New Years Day. Heck the malls are even open in my area. So cheer up and just pretend that the whole world will be celebrating the start of your birthday tonight at midnight!!

I agree with the hotel idea. A college roommate of mine did that one year. She got a really nice room, ordered a steak and a hot fudge sundae from room service, and pampered herself. It'll make you feel decadent and it'll be fun for both you and Pete.

Thanks so much for the great ideas and wonderful birthday wishes. Pete and I just packed our bags for a two day getaway to Chattanooga, TN. We got a great rate on a suite there with a hotel that has an indoor pool! Pete is soooo excited and now, so am I. We are going to see Rock City, Ruby Falls, & the Tennessee Aquarium.

I just wanted to let all of you know how much this board means to me. How many times you guys have come through to make me laugh, smile, think, and grow. God bless you all and I hope that 2004 brings you the best!
