Kim, hope you are doing a little better today!? I can just imagine how frustrating that must be for you.. But, that is great news about a new gym opening up near you!! We have one right near me, but i am still too chicken to go. LOL
Hope you're having a good weekend!!
Thanks, buddy! (thank goodness that pic was pretty good - after a nice tall tiki drink ) GREAT concert, btw! We went to see Maroon 5.
As for the hip...I think the anti-inflammatory meds are helping. I'm calling the ortho today to hopefully get an appointment before we go away.
This week's gonna be crazy at work. And I hope to get a handle on what I need to do for the trip so that I don't feel so overwhelmed with this whole suprise thing.
HI Kim! Just checking in. So sorry to hear you still in so much hip pain! Glad to hear the meds seem to be working though. Looks like you guys had a great time at the concert!
I'm also glad to hear the meds are helping - sometimes, they say, just a reduction in pain is so important to beginning the healing process. It's really good that you are following up, though.
Do you have a big surprise reveal planned? How long are you going to wait for the unveiling?
Hey guys. Not much to report. I didn't do well with the pants challenge today but tomorrow is another day. I don't know if my doctor will call regarding the xrays or if I just wait and review them with the ortho, but I made my ortho appointment for October 26th. I'm glad I'm getting there before the trip.
Corinna - yes, the reveal is still being worked out...but we're dropping the kids off at school and about 2 hours later picking them up and will tell them when we get to the car that we're heading to WDW! Believe me, there will be a detail-filled trip report.
Yes, tomorrow is another day. I have had an off-couple-of-days. Tomorrow, though!
I don't know how it works with the x-rays either - I am glad your appointment is coming up.
And finally, that sounds like a really clever foolum-business-switcheroo for the kids. We surprised my older son with a weekend roadtrip at the end of the schoolday one time and it just didn't register with him right away at all. He just didn't clue in or believe it or something! Have fun planning and plotting and scheming!
Kim, Glad you are getting to see the ortho before your trip! Hopefully that will ease any worries!
You must be getting so excited for your trip!! I am not good at keeping secrets, so i can just imagine as it is getting closer how hard it is for you! LOL
You will probably receive a preliminary report from a radiologist in the mail before your ortho appointment. Do you have your films? You may want to call you doc to get your films. Never trust one doc to give something to another doc in a timely manner. I am glad you are feeling better.
Hi Kim! How are you feeling??? I hate to play the "waiting game!" We are doing the same thing with Matt's results!!! Hope it is nothing serious!
When do you guys go to Disney??? I know the kids will be so surprised! Have you ever checked out the Creative DISigns board? There are a few folks on there that design really cute stuff. They will customize for you as well. My SIL had a few customized for iron-on t-shirts and I have had an invitation to Chef Mickey's made for my nephew. Not sure if this is something you might be interested in??? Maybe a cool way to tell them??? A few of the designers have websites. amymickey.com(SIL got the designs for the t-shirts from amy) and patsdesigns.com I requested a design from Pat last week but I haven't seen anything from her yet. She may be on vacation or sick???
Just thought I'd mention it in case you wanted to check it out...
Hi kim
sorry the hip is stopping you from running - i hope it mends soon & is nothing serious!
I LOVE Maroon 5 - lucky you to see them
loved the pic - you look like sisters!!!
when do you visit WDW???
Stacie - I actually did get some designs from the creative DISigns peeps! Great minds think alike.
Tracey - OMG, what an AWESOME concert!! If you go over to Jen's journal (Blueeyes101817) she's got lots of pics from the show. They are great, and Adam Levine sings so great live.
Beth, I'm not sure if I'll get a report, but the imaging place told me they'd send a report to my dr. I might call my dr. Thurs of Fri to see if they have my results. Honestly - I'm thinking it'll show nothing. I've never been an easy person to diagnose. But I'm glad the anti-inflammatories are helping out. I'm feeling better every day.
Speaking of that....since I feel better - I really really really want to run. I might just go for a walk at lunch Thursday and test it out. I know I shouldn't run, but it's been SO long. I feel like a bump on a log right now. Thank God for the pants challenge or I'd be in a free-for-all I think.
kim,
thanks for checking in to welcome/"meet" me! also thanks for the positive thoughts about the 15k for me....even walking in the past and jogging a little, i'm still very nervous. i definately feel for you as far as the hip pain goes....last year shortly after i joined my gym and was jogging just a couple of miles about 2-3 times a week, i started experiencing SEVERE hip pain.....enough that as soon as i got out of bed in the morning, managed to hobble down my stairs, it hurt until i went to bed, on and off but mostly on ( being on my feet all day at work didn't help either) it was so sensitive, i just remember pain meds didn't help or anything.....then i finally made an appointment w/ my dr who actually referred me to a local pedorthist (which i had never even heard of before) long story short...i was fortunate that she was able to help me with a nice pair of custom orthodics (she does the orthodics for the u.s. ski team as well) and a kick *** pair of running sneakers that make all the difference in the world when i am jogging. but pain that interfers w/ training does suck, so just take it easy...they had recomm. bike, ellip.,swimming, and non impact exercises to me in the interim of finding things out. i work in diagnostic imaging at a hospital too, so if you have any questions about that just ask, and i'll see if i can help
even though you feel like a bump on a log...take it easy and start with a walk like u said (i know it's always easier said than done coming from those who can still exercise, right??) just concentrate on getting better!!
p.s. i am a maroon 5 fan too
Hey kimmy!
Just got caught back up from the past week or so.
Hope the hip is feeling better...keep us informed.
Thanks for listening when I called the other night....long day....long night....long weekend.
Sorry I didn't make the concert....heading over to Jen's journal to see what I missed. (oh...wait....I wasn't invited!!!! )
HI Kim! It's cool you got some things from our DISigners!!! I know you're kids will be so excited!!! When do you leave? Maybe you've already said??? I've been having trouble retaining lately! Oh, wait, three weeks from today right???
Glad to hear the hip is feeling a bit better! Hope it continues on that path. I know it's hard, but try not to get discouraged. Once you find out what's going on, you can assess the situation and figure out what to do it. You'll get there!!! If you go for a walk today--enjoy! The weather is very nice. Hopefully you'll have a nice day too!
Glad to hear that you are feeling better each day! Also cool that you went to see Maroon 5, I bet it was a great show...looks like you two had a lot of fun!
Can't wait to see how the whole WDW trip pans out...pretty exciting that they still don't know!!
Glad to hear that your hip pain has lessened. Seems that it's epidemic here lately . Just remember...STRETCH STRETCH STRETCH. Also...core work helps a bunch! A lot of times it's tough to diagnose but it's a very common condition in female runners. Is your pain on the outside just below the hip bones or right on the bone? Toward the top of your outer thighs? Is it tender to the touch? Hurts when you stretch or roll over in bed? Does it feel stiff when getting up from sitting?
Just curious....that's how mine feel and it just seems to come with the running territory. I have been told it's everything from bursitis to IT band problems. I just know that a lot of women experience it! Especially painful after the run. I don't know if that's what you have, perhaps yours is in a different location, but I am able to manage my pain with LOTS of stretching and lots of core work. Stabilizing the back and pelvis thru stronger core muscles . Pilates or yoga might be a GREAT idea for you! Check out the classes at your new gym!
I really hope you can get a solid diagnosis though! Have you heard back yet?
Take care...and how exciting...WDW is SOOOO close for you!!!!
