Kim's new and improved life journal!

What diet are you doing?

I'm actually working with a nutritionist to help me learn how to eat (hopefully) forever. I know my journal has gotten long, but I think the first page or two tells a lot about my eating plan.

Thanks for your encouragement!!!

Congrats on your wonderful success! I hope to be there by the end of this year, too. You are an inspration! :thumbsup2

BTW...I think maybe what you are describing is heel spurs?

:thumbsup2 Great job with the weigh-in AND with your second run! You are really doing great! Sooooo proud of you!! :cool1:

As for your feet...I'm not sure? Could they be bone spurs? I'm glad you're getting them checked out since you do have plenty of time before the race! If workouts hurt....you probably shouldn't do them. I'd hate to see you injure yourself! :grouphug:

hey friend :)
Hope you are having a great time tonight and i know you will miss me HORRIBLY!!!!! (sooo understandable!)
I will talk to you this weekend im sure!

hey !
I just finished all of my homework so figured i would leave you a little message saying hi!
Hope you are having fun at the bday party-are you SURE its today and not tomorrow?! Be sure to check your email! enjoy the bball tonight!!

I've always thought that would be so awesome to work with a nutritionist. My Dad is a triathlete and works with all kinds of people for different things. He always has great advice on food!!

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Hey Vanessa - yes, I really wanted to work with a nutritionist this time, to learn more about foods and what they do for/to my body, as well as to be monitored while losing weight. It's the best thing I've done for myself in a long time!

This spring-like weather is awesome, isn't it? I went out for a run this morning, and wore pants and a long sleeve tshirt. So nice to not have to bundle all up with jacket and gloves and headband to cover my ears!! :thumbsup2

This week's exercise plan didn't go exactly a I had wanted it to, but I got in my 3 runs and I'm thrilled about that. I ran Monday, Wed & Sun (instead of Sat). Friday night and Saturday night I ate bad, but I have no plans now for a while, so I'll be 100% on plan for the week. I only did exercise one other day, but that's ok. baby steps...haha

Today's run was definitely an improvement over the other 2 (week 1 done!!). I actually went to my city hall's walk path to run, since it is 1/2 mile around, and I was scheduled to run 1 mile today...so easy to figure out. Today was:

r3/w1/r3/w1/r3/w1/r3/w2

The first mile was a 12 minute mile. I went a little over a mile today based on a little bit of stupidity mixed with a fuzzy-early morning brain. haha. But better to run more than run less, right? ;) I felt good running today

I'll be out running again tomorrow morning. On Mondays and Wednesdays I'll be running around my neighborhood, and I'll do the weekend run at the city hall path. That'll give me some variety and something to look forward to.

Tomorrow is home weigh in day. So we'll see how it goes based on the eating bad the past 2 nights.

Kim: :cool1: awesome job on your 12 min. mile! Wow you are getting speedy girl :cheer2: . And not to worry about eating bad...I was sooo naughty this weekend with my eating...again :(. I ate bad twice...and I had wine on Saturday night. Ugh!

Anyway...you are doing so great!!! :goodvibes

Happy Monday!! :rotfl:

Sorry about that, I'm in a good mood today! haha

Didn't start my day off too well...I overslept & didn't get to run. So I spent my morning worrying about how I would alter my running schedule this week so I could get my 3 runs in.

Good news was...I was down 1 more pound since last Monday...117.5 at home! Not too bad after the weekend eat-fest I enjoyed! :teeth:

So, I packed my running gear to hopefully run during my lunch hour, but it started raining just before...so I went home with a friend of mine who works out in her home gym at lunch. I used her treadmill and I LOVED IT!! I really enjoyed running on it, and it felt like time just flew by. I went 20 minutes, this is how it went:

w1/r3/w1/r3/w1/r3/w1/r5/w2

Yes, I DID run 5 minutes!! AND....I actually increased the speed for that last run. I felt so good, my breathing was good, it was so darn exciting! I have no idea what my per mile time was, but I went 1.5 miles, so I guess around 13? I have no idea. But I felt great during and afterwards - and I'm so glad I did it and didn't put it off.

Next running day will be Wednesday, then back to the park on Saturday. I think, since today felt so good, that I'm going to jump to Jeff Galloway's week 3, and do 15 - 20 mins and 1.5 miles on Saturday.

hello darling!!!!!!!!
i figured i would write to you since i am not watching american idol since its not on at 9 haha!
Besides, i believe my life was threatened if i didnt post :)

Hey all!

Tomorrow is another weigh-in with Nancy & week 2 of maintenance begins. I can't wait to find out what else is added back in!

I wanted to post about my run this morning. It was so amazing! I had decided before I headed out that I would run/walk for 20 minutes. 10 mins out & 10 minutes back, and I'd figure out what distance it was later. I had on 2 long sleeve tshirts and long pants & went on my way. I walked for one minute, then started with the 3r/1w. When I got to 9 minutes out I was close to turning the corner at a cross street (yes we have HUGE blocks here ;)). So I turned & then when I hit 10 minutes, instead of turning around, I thought I was close to the middle of the block, so I'd just keep going around the block. Boy was I wrong!!

Twice I had to do 3r/2w, but I made it through all the runs. I got home 25 minutes after I started. DH was outside getting the newspaper, so I thought I'd show off a little and run home pretty quickly (before I saw him I thought I'd just walk the rest of the way). Then as I got closer I saw DS4 (who usually goes outside to get the paper with DH - my little early riser). He was cheering me on, it was AWESOME! I was soooo tired, but I wanted to sprint & cry at the same time! I ran up to him and he said "how was your run, mommy?". Man, what an awesome feeling!

I was sooo beat after that run. I had no idea how far I went and ran out of time to drive around the block before work. But after work the kids & I took the ride. You ready????

2.2 MILES!!! :woohoo:

Again, what an awesome feeling! I need to drive out a 3.1 mile course in order to plan ahead for my longer runs. I'm glad I'm off from running until Saturday - I'm sure my body is gonna need it! :teeth:

I'll check in again tomorrow after my appointment with Nancy.

OMG KIM!!
i am so proud of you! that is soooooooooo awesome! i bet it was great seeing Jake out there rooting you on! and i have seen those huge blocks you guys have--WOOHOO
!!!
im so excited for you--keep it going my dear! good thing yo uare off friday :)

Hi Kim :wave2:
What an awesome journey you have been on! Congratulations on reaching your weight loss goal!! DH and I were talking about finding someone to help us out with our food choices and you have inspired me to check out a nutritionist. You are doing awesome on your runs!! Keep it up!! Thanks for visiting my journal...I really appriciate it!

Kim you are doing soooo good!! Congrats on the weight loss again and awesome job on the running!! 5 minutes without stopping is awesome on the treadmill....and don't you love how running by time & intervals kind of makes you oblivious to the distance?

Keep up the great work!

Congrats on your run....not as bad as you thought it would be, was it?
Just make sure your DS is at the finish line when you do the Guts to Glory 5K....it's great having them to cheer you on!!!

Great job!! Keep it up!!

Hey guys, thanks again for the encouragement! I'm sure you all know how much it keeps ya goin!!

I weighed in with Nancy and stayed the same (hence the term, maintenance :rotfl: ). So I'm very happy with that. I did cheat some last weekend, and stuck to my exercising - so it all works out!! I'm so glad b/c I was definitely nervous.

She added more variety to the 2 starches I can have per day. I can now add in certain bagels (YUM) popcorn, crackers, croutons, and baked french fries!!! I also add another fat (so now 2 per day instead of 1) and my fat choices have increased as well to include bacon or ham, olive oil, light whipped topping and light salad dressing. There are quantities and limitations as far as how many times per week I can have certain things...but I am LOVING the variety I have now. I actually have choices!! :thumbsup2

I will be running again on Saturday morning at the park. I'm gonna shoot for the 2 miles again and see how it goes. That's 4 laps around the park. Then next week I'm thinking about switching to coolrunning's 5K training plan. The reason I might switch is: I am such a novice at running and all it takes to run well, that I need as much difinitive instruction as possible. Meaning...the Galloway plan seems to be more of - run/walk but do what you can as far as how much of each. The coolrunnings plan tells you exactly how long to run & how long to walk and builds you up to running the whole 5K.

Ultimately, I know it's up to me, and how my body feels...but I think I might do better with that structure. I'll let you know! :teeth:

One last thing....went shopping yesterday since I believe I am at the size I will be staying at permanently. So I stocked up on about 7 or 8 pairs of pants...and finally broke down & bought 2 new bathing suits. And I have learned....that no matter what size you are....bathing suit shopping is NO FUN!! My poor white legs haven't seen the sun in a LONG time!! :lmao:

Kim-
i understand about the bathing suits !
good idea about the running, try it, see how you like it, and switch if you need to..
Saturday morning?! you may not be able to wake up if that house guest of yours stays too late again Friday night :)
But you ARE allowed to cheat tomorrow--its allowed :)
and yay for MAINTAINING! your weight :)
talk to ya later

Congrats on maintaining! You are doing an AWESOME job!

Good luck with your run!

:cool1: Kim, Great job on your runs! You are doing awesome!!! And congrats on maintaining....AND buying those new clothes. I'll have to check out the cool running site to see their 5K plan for comparison :goodvibes .
