Kimpup and MLinDisney went back to enjoy the FOOD AND WINE FESTIVAL!~COMPLETED 10/28

We arrived at the Food and Wine Building a little early, but we had to go to will call for our tickets. After the tickets, we shopped a little and went to wait on the line.

I took this one from the line. We were eyeing up the seats that we had when we saw Kevin Dundon, in front of the screen to the left facing the kitchen.

A little blurry. I took this from the front of the line. View from our seat:

We sat down and I took a photo of the kitchen from our seats. Then Noah French who is a pastry chef at The Sugar Mill in Denver CO came out.

This is Noah French starting to bake a 5 spice Streusel and Chocolate Jasmine Cream.
The woman is from Nicolas Feuillatte. She was talking about the Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Rose Champagne from France, which was served with the pastry.

Another photo of Noah French.

Here is a photo of the finished product with chocolate ganache and 5 spice streusel crumbs on top. The crumbs were delish. I was a little confused during this demonstration. I think because there were so many steps that he explained concurrently. He went back to one while doing another. I enjoyed this demo, but I really liked the other Culinary Demonstration much better.
DD enjoyed this and the food. She thought Noah French was adorable! She rated the cake 8/10.
It was around 4:00 when the Demonstration was finished. We had an ADR at Shula’s at 5:00. We took one last look in the cook book area and headed for The Dolphin.

NEXT REVIEW: DINNER SHULA’S

After the Culinary Demonstration and quick look through the cookbooks, we walked over to The Dolphin. We passed the Beach and Yacht and walked over the bridge. We allowed a lot of time to walk there because we were unsure of where to go and which door to enter. Also, we brought along sandals and nicer blouses to change into. After we arrived we found a beautiful bathroom and changed. We fixed our hair and went over to Shula’s waiting area. When it opened they seated us by walking us over with a football. I didn’t get a photo of this. They took our drink orders and brought us bread.

This was crunchy, warm and great, but not as good as the Yachtsman pull-apart onion rolls!
Our wine:

I ordered Pino Noir.
DD ordered:

Sauvignon Blanc. We had three servers. Actually I think one was the bus boy, but he kept coming over to us to ask us how we liked our meal and if we needed anything. One of our servers was Fabiano and one was Alexis. I’m not sure of the bus boy’s name.
The waiter brought a cart up to the table and explained all the cuts of meat by showing us each one.
DD ordered:

12 ounce Filet Mignon. She asked for a smaller one and he said that they had an 8 ounce Filet Mignon that is usually served with a lobster tail. So she ordered that one. She cut it open at the waiter’s suggestion to see if it was done to her liking.

My entrée:

16 ounce New York Strip. I also asked for a smaller piece, but they didn’t have smaller than this. I had to leave half of it. I also was asked to cut into mine to see if it was done to my liking. This was delicious. I enjoyed this steak better than the Yachtsman!
Our side dishes:

Crab macaroni and cheese. This was very good but I think the Yachtsman’s truffled Mac and cheese was a little better.
Another side:

Creamed Spinach. We ordered the same two sides that we had at the Yachtsman to compare. We also ordered the same steak. I enjoyed this as much as the one at the Yachtsman. It was very dark in the restaurant and my camera wasn’t taking great photos. Either that or I messed up my camera by dropping it the day before :worried:
Our dessert:

Chocolate Souffle. We had to pre-order this when we ordered our meal, so that it would come out hot. This came with three garnishes: Creme Anglaise, Vanilla Ice Cream, and Whipped Cream. It was very light, airy and delicious. DD also ordered coffee. I rate this entire meal a 9/10 for food, service and atmosphere. DD Rated 9/10. She said the mac and cheese was amazing and so was the creamed spinach! This meal beat yachtsman by a football field! :lmao:

We paid $169.87 for this meal. We paid for all but $44 of this with my Am Ex and Visa vanilla gift cards. They don’t take Disney Gift Cards, so the $44 went on a credit card. $44 was the only amount we spent on food at Disney this vacation except for tips.

NEXT REVIEW: BAKERY SNACKS

After our dinner at Shula’s we walked over to Epcot to buy some things to bring back to my Mom’s. I took these photos at my Mom’s house.
Before we went to the bakery, we met up with my cousin’s daughter. She was drinking a Grand Marnier Slushie. We decided before we went to the bakery to go back to L’Artisan Des Glaces. I don’t have a photo but I got one scoop of caramel fleur de sel in a cup. DD didn’t have anything this time. This was delicious. I had a martini with this flavor a few days before this. I love this flavor! This was $4.25, paid for with a Disney Gift Card.
We talked with my cousin for a while and then she had to go. We went into Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie. We bought:

Duo Au Chocolat.

Chocolate Éclair. This had Chocolate filling.

Napoleon.
All three of these from the France Bakery were $15.18, paid for by a Disney Gift Card.
I have a close up of the Cinnamon bun we bought at Gaston’s that morning:

It looks so good and gooey, but it was kind of dry.
We left Epcot and walked over to Boardwalk Bakery. We bought:

An almond croissant and a Sticky Bun.
Also from Boardwalk Bakery:

Peanut butter bar cake.
I also remember buying and eating the peanut butter, banana and candied bacon pie. For some reason there is no photo of it here. I also see it here on the receipt. All four of those from Boardwalk Bakery were $10.65, paid for by a Disney gift card.

Out of all of our take home pastries, DD and I enjoyed the Duo Au Chocolat from Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie the best. It was not as good as the Salted Caramel Ganache that we had earlier in the trip from Boardwalk Bakery, but it was good. DD also enjoyed the sticky bun.

We walked back to the Beach Club to get our bags and our laptops, put it all in the rental car and drive to my Mom’s House on the west coast.

I enjoyed the Food and Wine Festival, but I don’t know if I would come back for a while. Staying at the Beach Club was great for visiting Food and Wine.
I was sad to leave, but we are looking forward to our next trip December, 2014, which is not booked yet. :goodvibes We tried for a bounceback, but they didn’t have a room only for December 2014. We are hoping for a pin for room only to show up in the next year. Meanwhile we will accumulate our Disney Rewards to pay for our food for the next trip!! Looking forward to all the Disney Christmas activities for the first time!
