Killing time on the monorail

So we'd like to do the Pirates and Pals Voyage and thought it would be a good idea to do dinner before at Chef Mickey's since they are located in the same resort. If we need to kill time in between the two events, I thought it would be neat idea to just ride the monorail but I had a few questions.

- If we ride a complete loop starting from the Contemporary, how many stops are there?
- How much time does a complete loop take?
- If we want to just stay on and keep riding until it's time for Pirates, can we do that?
- What kind of view do you get of the Magic Kingdom from the monorail?

Thanks for all your help.

A- If we ride a complete loop starting from the Contemporary, how many stops are there?
B- How much time does a complete loop take?
C- If we want to just stay on and keep riding until it's time for Pirates, can we do that?
D- What kind of view do you get of the Magic Kingdom from the monorail?

A- Four, plus the return stop to Contemporary, so Five, total.
B- Varies. Figure 30 minutes, give or take 15 minutes.
C- Sure.
D- So-so. The MK view is mostly blocked by buildings, roofs and trees.
But, the views of the resorts and lakes are very nice.

It goes the opposite direction of the express monorail stopping in order at; TTC, Polly, GF, MK, then back to Contemp. If you do not get off, I would say 20-25 min would get you around the loop. You can stay on as long as you want, nobody checks. It is nice to get off and see some of the resorts too, if time permits. Would take longer as you then have to wait for the next monorail. It only passes in front of the MK. It is a nice view but IMO nothing so spectacular that makes me want to do it over and over again but can be fun to do it once or twice. Depending on time, you can also get off at the TTC and take the Epcot rail there and back. Not sure how long that would take but maybe a half hour would do that.

1. Five.
2. Twenty minutes or so, assuming no delays.
3. Sure.
4. Not much beyond the train station, and taller structures (castle, Space, etc.) in the distance.

Seeing Cinderella's castle from a distance would be great. This is our first trip and we're not doing MK until later in the week so I know my daughter (4) would love that.

Are there any other kid friendly time-killers at the Contemporary?

At TTC (the very first monorail stop after you leave the Contemporary) you can transfer from the MK-area "Resort Monorail" to the "Epcot Monorail."
It heads to Epcot and actually ENTERS Epcot before it makes the Epcot stop.
That allows a nice look at Epcot.

Figure that if you choose to do that round-trip, it will add another 25-40 minutes to your original MK Resort Monorail loop timing.

Just stay onboard the Epcot monorail and it will return to TTC, where you can exit and reboard the Resort Monorail for it's continued trip back around (finally) to the Contemporary Resort again.

The Epcot monorail loop is a great idea, but does take a little longer.

To further clarify, the Epcot monorail loop that Robo mentions can be easily accessed from the TTC stop on the Resort Monorail loop.

Oh, you SO complete me!

;)

FYI, last year, we were planning a monorail loop to kill time after dinner at the Grand Floridian. We got on and rode as far as the TTC and the monorail broke. It completely stopped running. All passengers had to disembark. We had to walk from the TTC to the Poly (which was no big deal), but then had to continue walking to the GF. This took at least 20 minutes. Keep this in mind. You would hate to miss your cruise, because the monorail was having issues...

This definitely crossed my mind . I'll be sure to leave plenty of time (just in case). Thanks. :)

OMG! It was an adult's only trip for me and my husband. We had dinner at Narcoossees. So, of course, I had 5" heels on, NEVER expecting to have to walk far that night. My feet hurt sooooo bad. LOL!

Keep in mind that there will be snacks with the pirate cruise, so you may want to opt for a lighter and cheaper meal than Chef Mickey's before.

Another idea - ride the boats around the loop Contemporary/Wilderness Lodge/Fort Wilderness. Very nice ride, especially late in the day if the weather is nice, and no potential problems with a monorail breakdown, plus you will end up right at the dock.
