Hello!
How bumpy/rough is the Safari ride?
I'm travelling with kids who sometimes get car sick and my mother with physical challenges (including severe arthritis caused neck pain).
Wondering if this ride is a possibility.
Thanks!

It's definitely bumpy. However DH has a bulging disc in his back and the ride didn't seem to bother him anymore than a typical car ride.

Thanks so much. My mom brings a brace for her neck so hopefully that would work.

Anyone with tempermental stomachs who can report on car sickness issues during the safari?

I will say not to ride in the last seat of the vehicle if possible. I found the movement there to be the worst.

In my view, the kids should be fine. It's bump. My wife suffers from motion sickness and it is one of her favorite attractions.

I cannot speak to the pain issue with severe pain issue

Generally not bad unless you experience what happened on our ride. At the end they speed up some. The girl driving took it a little bit too quick around the corner and fishtailed into a rock. The girl did not know what to say. 3 crew members were there asking how everybody was. Driver left the truck and was relieved by someone else. She was probably shaken up the most.

My son has permanent nerve damage in his spine and says after the ride he hurts a little but not as bad as say EE.

I suffer motion sickness but do not on that ride (I'm actually worse on very smooth and quiet rides!).

I think it depends on how hard the driver is on the brakes. We're here this week and rode twice so far and first one was much smoother than the second. As others have noted, we were also in the back row on the second ride which is above the rear axle and seemed to feel much bumpier than times we were riding in the first few rows.

Very bumpy to be quite honest. It doesn't bother my family and I but I've been on with a friend that needs a new hip and he felt it but said it wasn't as bad as BTMR at Magic Kingdom. Best of luck to you and your mom.

Yes, it's bumpy and jarring some times...I'm prone to "car" sickness too and it's really not so bad...I think it's because there's so much to see you don't think about it. There are people who are challenged on the trucks but I guess it depends on her situation. I hope you get to ride it...something you don't get to see every day. Good luck and Have fun!

I have motion sickness issues and Safari does not bother me at all - it's more like a bumpy ride in a Jeep going off-road. I cannot speak to the neck pain issue.

It use to be real bumpy and a lot more fun before they changed the ride and took out the "Poacher" theme. Our DDs loved it, they still enjoy the ride but they do not look forward to it as much as they use too:)

Personally, I have never had a motion sickness problem with KS. I think it is important to recognize, though, that this isn't an attraction where you can expect a consistent experience from ride to ride. It may be more bumpy depending on where you sit, how fast the vehicle is moving, and the driver's abilities. I think your mom needs to be aware that there is the potential for the ride to be too rough for her.

I am extremely motion sensitive and I have serious spine problems. I take Bonine every day at WDW so I don't know how I'd do without it, but it has never bothered me from a motion perspective. Other rides do, even with the Bonine. As far as the neck goes, if she is having acute pain, it might hurt, but she has probably reached a point with the chronic pain that she can tolerate some bumping around. I rode it about a month before I had neck surgery and it really didn't bother me more than everything else did at that point in my life. Just in case, she might want to make sure that whatever pain medication she takes is on board! Good luck.

PS. My kids have mild issues with motion sickness and we just don't take chances at WDW. Bonine every morning for everyone!

I was there two weeks ago, fighting off some ailments (including a kidney infection) and we got placed in the second to the back row. OMG, not a good place to be with internal issues. Definitely request the front, but even that can be a bit bumpy, depending on the driver. Do it later in the day in case she needs to rest afterwards?

I am a motion sickness sufferer and I haven't had problems on the Safari.

I'm not sure how old your kids are, but if they're small, they're allowed to sit on a lap during the ride. They may not change their mind once the ride is in motion, however. If they want to sit on a lap, they need to choose to do so before the ride starts and pick which parent they want to sit with.

I rode with a herniated disc in my lower back last year and it was fine.

As someone with bad neck arthritis and Fibromyalgia, I no longer ride the Safari. Just not worth it. Unless you have arthritis (or similar issues) you would not notice the bumpiness nearly as much, but it's crazy jerky to me. I find myself tensing up, sitting away from back rest, and even though it helps during the ride, I pay dearly after!
