KigerKat Takes on The World! My First WDW Experience!! 10/29 - 11/04 PTR

The Tigger lanyard is cute...I'm surprised you can't find more lanyards ...if you are creative you could go to a fabric store and make your own. It wouldn't need to be really detailed...just get the fabric you want and loop it through the plastic holder (office supply stores) and tie a knot around the neck.

Of course, you could make it more detailed/professional looking to, if you have the time/desire...

Unfortunately, I'm not quite that creative - I can't even sew a button on!! :rotfl:

I did some more heavy googling this morning, and still came up empty. I think the easiest thing would be to buy the generic lanyards and put a few pins on them and a clear badge holder for the resort ids and fast passes.

Having not ever visted the World myself, would the resort ids look better in a horizontal badge holder or a verticle one?

love the autograph cards - especially the colors of the mickey heads! :thumbsup2

Resort IDs are horizontal...FPs are vertical but would fit either way since they are smaller.

Also, have you asked your group about lanyards? Personally, I don't like things around my neck ... would rather carry them in my pockets or Baggalini, so a lanyard would be a waste for me...

We leave in 27 days, and 4 weeks from today we will be at Disney World!! I can finally say that I'm going to Disney THIS MONTH!!

DH came home last Thursday night, very tired and groggy. I've never been someplace that made it so difficult to adjust to the time difference. 12 hours is quite a difference!!

We left Friday afternoon to drive up to North Carolina and watch NC State play SFU. It rained the entire drive up there. And since he was so tired, I did all of the driving. Let me tell you - I do not drive well in the dark. I'm fine if it's raining during the day, but if it's raining at night then I might as well walk to where ever I'm going. The normally 4 hour drive was easily 5 hours for me.

The next day we met up with some friends of ours that were there for SFU and DH and FIL took us on a nostalgic tour of the NC State Campus. It was a beautiful day!! We get to the stadium and find our seats just in time for kick off (or tip off, first serve, whatever they call it in football!! :lmao:). Just after the second quarter starts, so does the rain. I ran down and got ponchos for all of us while it was still in the sprinkle phase and we got them all on before the heavy rain started. Needless to say, quite a bit of the stadium cleared out when the rain started and we were quick to follow. At the half, NC State was losing pretty bad and none of us wanted to sit there in the rain anymore. They ended up losing the game 41-10.

Just to think that we drove all the way up there for half a game in the rain that they didn't even win makes me sick...and now I am sick!! DH wasn't feeling too well when he got back and now I have a sore throat and runny nose. I'm not sure if sitting in the rain the other had anything to do with it, but I wouldn't doubt it! I hope I get back to normal soon, since now DH's entire family is coming to visit this weekend. :scared1: What started as just BIL and nephew has turned into DH's sister, BIL, 2 nephews, mother and possibly father. I just heard yesterday that the BIL and father are both sick as well, but I think they're all still coming. Not too sure where all of these people will sleep, but we'll figure something out!

When we were up in NC this past weekend, we did see both of the nephews for a little bit. I had asked them if they were getting excited about Disney, and they both replied with a boring, 'yeah'. DH doesn't think they quite understand what they are in for!! :rotfl: I was hoping to maybe show them one of the travel channel shows I still have on the DVR, but DH has convinced me that they will do nothing but bother their parents about it for the next 3 1/2 weeks if I do that. I guess I'll have to find some way to contain my excitement when they come - but I don't know how I'm going to do it!!! Is it possible to think that I am more excited right now then they are?? I can't wait to see the look on their faces when they get there!

DH and I will probably still be at RPDE when they check in. Thier plane lands at 10AM and I'm not sure how long it will take for ME to get them to the resort and for them to check in, but maybe they can make it over there in time to watch him drive his 8 laps at the end. I already know I'm going to have to buy the video - everything that I have read says it's completely worth every penny. I know my parents will drive over there with us in the morning, so I'll at least have them to stress with when it's time for him to get behind the wheel.

We did get our travel documents Friday!! It seems so official now! I'm not sure how much time we'll have for the Sea Racer (or if it will be warm enough) but we definitely are a mini golf family!! We usually play one big game in Myrtle Beach every year, but we didn't go to MB this year - so this will be the Kiger Kup 2008 Championship game!!

Still looking for lanyards...and it's starting to seem like I'm going to have to get the generic Disney lanyards and put a couple of pins of their favorite characters on them. And I did wonder if everyone would wear them, and I'm pretty sure they would. If they don't, then they've got a nice souvenir to keep their resort keys on!

Wow -- sounds like a bummer trip! Sorry to hear that!

It's so cool you can say "this month" and less than 30 days -- it's becoming so real!!!

Two weeks from right now, DH will be getting suited up for his 8 laps around the track at RPDE!! It's been so hard keeping this from him...I'm becoming more excited about telling him than I am about my first day at Disney!

As far as the lanyards go...I gave up on trying to find lanyards with different characters on them. I was able to get some fun ones for some people. For the nephews, I got them both lanyards with "Cars" on them:

DH got a cool, Asian looking lanyard (since he's always traveling to Asia!):

And then I got this one for myself:

Everyone else is getting this one:

I also bought a pin of everyone's favorite character to put on their lanyard. Luckily, I didn't spend too much money. I got everything off of Ebay, and tried to buy as much from the same seller that I could to save on shipping. But before I was finished with all of my Ebaying, I found these cute little bags to put everyone's lanyard in:

We have definitely managed to stay busy around here. This week, we are doing some more remodeling (did our kitchen a couple of months ago) and having our bathroom cabinets refaced. The painter is actually doing his thing right now as I am typing. The paint has to dry until Friday, when they come back to finish up and put the new doors on and install 2 new cabinets for us. Plus, we are getting new granite counters in the bathroom Friday as well. It's going to look so great! I just can't wait for it to be over.

I'll be staying home all day Friday while they are working in the bathrooms, but I'll be keeping myself busy working on my "Chili con Kiger" (thanks for the great name suggestion Catotigger!) for my neighborhood's Chili Cookoff on Saturday. With the chili, I'm making green chili corn muffins to hopefully sway the votes my way!! :thumbsup2 On top of the chili and the corn muffins, I need to bake something for a bake sale at our Fall Festival and then a dish for a block party after the festival. I'll be a cooking machine in the kitchen!! Maybe I can ask some of the installers to be a guinea pig with my chili...

Alrighty...I need to go get ready for work in the one bathroom that we still have access to.

Don't forget to post a pic of your chili and corn bread!! I'd like to try some please!!

Hey you have like less than 2 weeks???

Oh, forgot to mention -- I love your lanyards and cases...the asian mickey one is really cool -- my favorite!

I'm sure we'll have a ton of pics from the festival this weekend. I went to Cost Plus yesterday and picked up my secret spices!

Oh, forgot to mention -- I love your lanyards and cases...the asian mickey one is really cool -- my favorite!

I really liked that one, too. After all of my searching, I don't think I saw anything else like it!

WHOA!! We're 5 days away now...the anticipation is growing!!

All the lanyards came in the mail this past week, along with all the pins (except my Dad's, which shipped on Tuesday and I should have it before we leave).

Some of the lanyards came with clips for the id pouches I got, but for the rest I had to find something to attach them with. I went by Hobby Lobby today and found little lanyard clips in the jewelry aisle, so I think I'm all set! :thumbsup2

I also got some red envelopes to leave tips in for Mousekeeping. Note to self - remember to get plenty of cash before we leave!! I was looking there for a sheet of Mickey Ear stickers to use as envelope seals, and I could not find any! I'll try to hit Archivers and Micheal's over the weekend and check there as well. I want to download a Disney font and print "Mousekeeping" on the envelopes, so they dont' get overlooked. Any ideas where I can download Disney fonts at??? :confused3

Which also reminds me...I need to print out my autograph cards this weekend as well. The weekend started out very free, just doing a little running around before we leave...but now it's a different story...

There's been mass chaos with our bathroom cabinets and mirrors. One of our new cabinets turned out to be the wrong size, and then we come to find out that our quote only included mirror frames, not the actual mirrors. So now, our bathroom reminds me of "Friends" - where they had the empty frame on the door around the peephole. I hope they can come on Monday to put the mirrors in!! But, the new cabinet won't be here until we get back.

Aside from the bedroom being a mess from the bathroom remodel, I've decided to get my front windows and windshield tinted in my new car before we hop on the road. So we're dropping it off tomorrow morning at 9AM - might be a good time to grab some pancakes and then hit Michael's and Arichivers!!

Then we need to paint the bathroom, and I HATE painting rooms. It's so hard for us to pick out colors, and then we gotta tape the room off, and DH always leaves the stupid painting supplies lying around for days - just in case he sees a spot that needs touching up. :sad2:

Then we have a birthday party to go to Saturday night that's a tennis game/birthday party combo. Now I took a series of lessons last summer, but just about all of that has disappeared now. Maybe I'll play a few matches on the Wii to get me warmed up. It's the same thing, right?

I think Sunday is still looking good, but DH's best friend is not having a good time right now. He was just laid off from his job and now he and his girlfriend are breaking up and she's moving back to Virginia soon. He may not want to be around the house while she's packing her stuff. My guess is that he & DH will either be playing tennis or Halo most of the day. At least that will leave some time for me to do my printing and laundry!

And I forgot to mention the Chili Cook-Off!!

Sad news...Chili con Kiger did not win... :sad1:

There were a total of 7 entries, and I placed right in the middle: 4th.

Which makes me wonder...:confused3...I had TONS of people coming up to my table, telling me they were told they had to try my chili. If that was the case, then I don't know how I didn't place higher, unless they were just tasting and not actually voting.

Funny story about when I was making the chili...I had purchased 2 different kinds of chili powder: 1 regular and 1 chipotle. My initial intent was to use 2 tablespoons of the regular, and 1/2 tbs of the chipotle, but I got the packages mixed up!! This was some smokey chili!! DH said it was the best mistake I could have made! He loved it, and so did everyone that tried it. The heat really snuck up on you! He thought of a new name for next year: "I Fear You Underestimate the Sneakiness..." (for any Mr. Deed's fan out there - one of DH's favorite movies!)

I'll just try to win again next year!!

Wow -- your week is sounding mighty full!!

Michaels has plenty of cheap Mickey stickers or other Disney ones (I assume you don't want to spend a lot).

Sorry about the mirror frames vs. mirrors themselves. We were looking to remodel our 1/2 bath sink ...it's a pedestal sink and we wanted one with cabinet space underneath. So we see a cabinet we like -- the picture on the cover looks great. It's about $358 and we think, we can do that.

Then we started to look into it more...well that price doesn't include the countertop NOR the actual sink NOR the faucets!

By the time we added it all up, it was about $1200 -- for just one cabinet sink at Lowes or Home Depot.

We kept the pedestal sink.

======

I am very excited for your trip!!

Oh, forgot to mention...I'm sorry to hear about your place in the chili cook-off -- it sounds like you deserved much higher if so many people had heard about your chili (and I assume liked it!)

So were you able to get away and taste others' chili? If so, what did you think of the winner's?

Hi! I followed the link from seeing your posts on the November thread. We are leaving in 4 days, too.:goodvibes

You can download the Waltograph font on dafont.com

I love your autograph cards. I found some on the Creative DISigns board that I printed for my DD. But yours are originals and I think that's fabulous!

Judging by your ADRs, I think we'll be at the same park Friday. You''ll be at Epcot, right? I am hoping everyone will be at Magic Kingdom for the party and Epcot will be low crowds!pixiedust:

Hey Marshay! DH and I checked both Micheal's and Archivers - no luck! When I have something specific in my mind, I won't be satisfied until I find exactly what I'm looking for. I'm sure I'll find something while we are down at Disney!! :)

And I hear you about home remodeling...it sure does add up fast!! I don't remember what our original "budget" was for everything we've done, but I can assure you - it's been blown!! I'm glad all the messy stuff is just about over. The next thing we wanted to do was change out all of our door hardware, and that won't be messy and we can take our time with that one.

I hate to sound stuck up or a little full of myself, but the chili was really good!! I didn't have people coming up to me last year saying they heard good things about my chili, so I have to believe it was way better than last year's.

The other chili's were very good, also!! I went down and tried everyone's, and they were all very different. There was one that I didn't care for that just tasted like a bunch of ground been in tomato sauce. Would have been great over pasta, but not as a chili.

The votes were very close, I think I only 9 votes away from 1st place. I made some suggestions for them next year that could possibly ensure more people voting, and less people tasting. Hopefully, that will make a difference for next year!

Thanks for letting me know about the font!! I took some time looking for it the other night. I found it, but I spent about 45 minutes trying to add it to my fonts. (I hate Vista!)

Thanks for the comments on the autograph cards!! I don't even know how long I spent looking for the right clip art images, but I was very happy with how they turned out. Maybe I'll post them on the creative board, also!! (when I get back, of course!).

And yes, Friday is our Epcot day!! I was kind of thinking the same thing you were, with the MNSSHP going on that night (and it actually being Halloween), the crowds should be much lighter. DH's sister and her family are going to the party that night, so DH's parents will be hanging out with us.

Where are you staying at? It's fun talking to people that are going to be there the same time we are! I looked at weather.com yesterday, and it looks like the weather should be great this week! I think it's supposed to rain one day, but that's all. Up here in Atlanta, we've had a bit of a cold snap so I was a little concerned about how to pack. Luckily, we're driving, so we can take whatever we want!

On the other hand, DH'a family is driving so we keep getting phone calls from his mother asking us to bring something with us that they can't take on the plane. So far, we are bringing our mini fridge, 2 trays of muffins from Cocsto, bottled water, a large bag of apples and peanut butter. I started making a list yesterday, so we don't forget anything!
