Kidz Bop CDs

Am I the only one who thinks these are kind of creepy? The kids sound like a slightly more human version of the "It's a Small World" figures, and hearing them cheerfully belt out a song like "When September Ends" is just jarring. (I don't think that was supposed to be a cheerful song?)

I can't wait for their version of "It's Hard out Here for a Pimp!"

Me and my kids always ponder "Who BUYS these things" whenever the commercial comes on.

ITA! Most of the songs are NOT appropriate for little kids anyway.We don't even have t.v. anymore, but when we did we hated those commercials and never would consider buying that junk. Even my kids agree!

We do. My DD6 loves them. It gets her dancing around the living room instead of playing video games or watching TV.

It's funny you mention that because I was programing American Idol when i saw a segmant about them on the news. Apparently they're HUGE money makers!! Then they showed the Kelly Clarkson video for Since U Been Gone and then the Kidz Bop version. In the Kidz Bop version scary large animals were playing the musical instruments. For example, a huge Walrus was playing the drums. I'm scared to sleep tonight because I think it might show up in my nightmares!!

I'm sure the lyrics are changed whenever they would be unsuitable for kids (which perversely makes me want to hear the CDs - I am curious as to how they got around the lyrics of "Hey Ya", for example).

My 10 yo dd wants these CDs - some of her friends have them. But I managed to put her off by getting her Raven's CD, and some of the Disney Channel CDs.

I HATE these!!! They're awful remakes of mostly mediocre songs. Kids can appreciate decent music--they don't need it dumbed-down for them!!!

Why do people feed such dreck to kids?
