Kids with APs, we don't...discounts?

Well..I was just trying to see how it all worked. Def wasn't trying to start a controversial post lol.

But honestly, still curious...we were just there for a trip end of October (everyone with active APs) and thinking about it all this hooplah over having an i.d, i don't even remember having to show my id except for TiW. There were even a handful of times where i mentioned I was an AP holder and started to get out my pass and was told "it's fine" or "i already applied the discount." I think the CMs were more conscience about AP discounts since they had just released the extras for the 45th ann and may have noticed the sliders on our MBs.

Anyway, not a huge deal...just wanted to check here beforehand. I want to abide by the rules, just weren't sure what they were in this case.

I can see both sides of it. But since kids who aren't driving don't NEED ID I don't think it's right that ID is required from them. If there's a problem with the AP at the gate with a kid they don't ask for ID then, even though they do for adults. Because they get that kids don't need ID. IMO they should lower the kid price or allow this perk for minors.

That's just it - it's a perk, not a right. Simple enough to solve the issue - get a child ID. Both my kids have had photo ID since we got them passports. Everyone should have a passport, IMO.

My kid has one. We aren't going to bring it for a domestic flight and aren't going to bring it into the parks. Even non-US adults balk at bringing it into the parks for booze purposes because it's such a pain if you lose it.

Kids are required to have ID for intl travel; not just being in the us.

Leave the country suddenly? Why?

You win a big trip?

A relative is traveling abroad and falls ill or does and you have to get to them? (That one is thanks to "aplaceformom" for caregivers of seniors...a woman's mom insisted on traveling with her even more elderly and frail husband, they didn't buy travel insurance, and one of them fell ill...their daughter had to go to Italy to bring them home. A year later mom pulled the same stunt, dad fell ill, and the woman and her brother had to go get them with no notice.)

The trip would sure be nice! Although I think I might pay for an expedited passport in that unlikely event).

I don't personally know a single person living abroad.

So once again, no need to keep passports for 5 living smack dab in the middle of the country.

I can see it as necessary for some. But a blanket statement about everyone needing one seems overly broad.

I don't think my DD (who would have been 9 at the time) was asked for any type of ID on our last trip. She had charging privileges on her MB and bought a few things herself using the MB and her AP discount. She has no picture ID. I suppose I could get her a state ID card but I've never needed one before.
