DS is 8 and will be 8&1/2 when we travel this time. we are paying oop, so, I think he has too big an appetite for most kid meals at TS restaurants, but not a big enough one for an adult meal. With prices, and it being hard to take "home" left overs, I am not sure what to do. If three adults are eating do you think we can have enough for him to get a good meal off our plates too? Disney needs a tween meal menu !!

For our DD16 when she was younger, she hated "kids meals" and wanted adult meals. Disney portions are large, but what we often would do it let her order and appetizer for her meal and then enjoy off our plates as well. Maybe that would work for you. We still often do that with our DD11 at restaurants now cause she doesn't like kids meal food but is a light eater.

If you have 3 adults and he orders something for himself or sharing either an app, cup of soup, side salad, or side item (great way to get some veggies) I think you'll be more than fine.

Buffets might be your answer. You pay the child's price (vs the adult) and he can enjoy as much or as little as he wants. That way, he can enjoy the adult fare at his portion.

We have a 3YO and book mostly buffets. You can fill up several ziploc containers and get at least 3/4 lunches out of it. Breakfast foods like waffles, dried fruits, and bagels keep best.
