any suggestions for ways to pass the time at WDW?

We used Fast Pass as much as possible. It really does help with the lines.

And we played things like thumb wrestling and those hand movement games. Plus we'd play eye spy. Really little kids like peek a boo. We'd make funny faces at each other and see who could do the funniest. Sometimes we would get the kids around us laughing at those.
We'd also talk about the ride and what we were doing next. We still do that even though our kids are older.

I don't like bringing stuff to do in line because it's just something to keep track of. We did let the kids look thru their autograph books in line.

And that was about it.

Fastpasses rule. We hand out water and cheerios (DSs age 2 and 4) we also watch people and look at the ride stuff. We haven't had an issue. We also don't stand in SUPER long lines. We get there early etc.

If you have to wait, find fun portable stuff that will fit in a back pack, which can be taken on the rides. I would not suggest this on Kali River Rapids however, as your stuff is likely to be drenched.

Let each kid pack "line stuff" in their own backpack, or have them pair up and share a back pack if you have multiple children. Here are some ideas:

Hand held video games
Portable DVD player or video player
iPod
Mad Libs (remember these!?)
Sing songs
Disney trivia
Puzzle books (crossword, word search, logic, etc)
Map out game plans for the next day or what to do later that day
Word games
Charades
Rock Paper Scissors
Read books or magazines

Some of these you are likely to get people around you to play to make it even more fun.
