Kids Valentine Cards for school

Thanks to everyone that responded. I tried 5 Below and couldn't find a thing. Running out of time I ended up at CVS and was surprised at the number of cards that came with stickers, tattoos and pencils. I was able to pick up two boxes of cards, with pencils, for $5.00.

My daughter chose valentines with tattoos. We are doing the card and the tattoos that came with them. In preschool, I would send it some goldfish or candy but in kindergarten they don't allow that so...

I get the feeling school is becoming less fun. We still have candy and parties at my kids' school (just sent a bag full of sugar to school this morning ;-) But my third grade niece was deemed to be too old to wear Halloween costumes to school (by the school). If we can't let kids be kids in third grade, then when can they be kids? (Says the mom who still wears Mickey ears every day at Disney...)

Now I admit that I'm tired of the little stuff in goody bags, etc., but then I get to make the choice of what to send (I chose $1 books from the Scholastic flier for b-day party goodies). If I'm tired of candy or little toys, then I send something else. But do I need the school mandating this? Nope.

It is amusing that schools can't observe Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Christmas, but Valentines Day is still P.C.

My kids public school still has Halloween, thanksgiving, Christmas and Valentine's Day parties. It's the same school I went to as a child, and I don't remember ever celebrating Easter at school. Of course my kids are no longer in elementary, but I know kids who are and they still have these parties.

I vote for just sending cards. No treats are needed. The kids never remember who gave them what anyway. My boys used to just bring it all home, eat the goodies, and throw everything else out.

There are some cute ideas on Pinterest:
You make my heart glow, Valentine (glow stick)
You're ExSTRAW special (crazy straw)
We were built to be friends (handful of Legos)
You are A-Mazing (mini heart maze from dollar store)
Whooopeee! It's Valentine's Day (mini whoopee cushion)
Valentine, You Deserve a Hand (mini hand clapper)
Our class would KNOT be the same without you! (friendship bracelet)
Blow me a Kiss (either bubbles or fake red lips kazoo)
Valentine, You're Out of this World (mini astronaut figurine on a moon cutout)
Dropping down to wish you Happy Valentine's Day (mini figurine with parachute)
Thanks for the list! I had already gotten Skittles and pencils to put into a cellophane bag but added Legos (since we have a ton of them!) and went with the built to be friends.

My son is four and rather than stuff the teachers sent home a list of kids that my LO should make a valentine for and write (with my help) something that they like or something nice about the other child. Seems like a nice idea to get away from the candy etc and puts a positive emphasis on the child. Things my LO came up with, "I like sledding with E, and that we play puzzles together." These are all 3-4 yo in class. Seems like a good idea for little ones just at the beginning of learning to make friends.

My boss was helping her son (he's 4) with his "Valentines Day" cards. Her son's public pre-school allows the cards only if you make sure every child in the class gets one, and they don't call it Valentines Day, they call it "Friendship" day even though all the cards are Valentines cards.

When my kids were very little, they asked that your only fill out the "from" part. This way the kids could give them out.

By 4 years old, we could write the to and from in and they were to read the names and be able to give them to the right person.

At 5 in K, they had to write them out themselves for homework.

We always included treats or something with them as did most other people. They usually made a mailbox out of a shoebox or something and came home with a box full of stuff!
