Well, looks like my sons will be wearing uniforms to school when they start kindergarten in the fall. (I'd be happier if I hadn't just bought tons of clothes on clearance for them for next year!) Any suggestions as to where to get school uniform clothes for a good price? Do they ever go on sale or clearance?

Thanks!

Ask at the school if they have a uniform exchange program. I know when my DS started at Catholic School, they had a table out at the orientation and we were able to pick up a couple of nice sweatshirts and polos. Also, ask if they HAVE to be monogrammed or can they just be the matching color. If so, Sears and Target have uniform pants, shorts and shirts. It's worth the ask.

Thanks! No, we don't have to have anything monogrammed, though they do offer them. They just have to be "school uniform" navy, tan, or black pants, and white, light blue or navy polo or button down shirts with collar. Also they can wear cardigans.

We are starting uniforms next year also. We have one place to purchase from and I am thankful. That is how it was when I was in high school.

Watch at Sears. Usually about a month before school lets out they will have great deals. Right now our uniforms at Sears are only 30% off. Last year I got them for 70% off.

Side note. I absolutely love uniforms. It is such a time saver in the mornings and there is no drama about what others have.

JCPenney has uniforms and Target has carried the French Toast uniform brand in the past. Our school requires either JCPenney or Parker. We prefer JCP because of the price and the pants are softer. Parker is more expensive and my ds and dd say the pants are "hard" and don't feel good.

I can pick up polo shirts at Target on sale for $1.88--you just have to keep checking for the sale.

I also ordered some long sleeve polo shirts from childrens wear outlet--$4/each. They are not the greatest quality but my son ruins his clothes so easily that I don't like to spend a lot of money.

My mom bought him lots of navy pants at consignment shops for about $1. Various quality and he ripped most of them fairly quickly--don't ask me what he does at school!

I get cardigan sweaters at Children's Place for my daughter when they go on sale. I also got her white turtlenecks from JCP for $.77.

To really get the best deals, you have to always be looking for the clothes when you go shopping. I just stock up when they are on sale.

My DD will start a new school & wear uniforms (of a sort) this year too. It's an easy uniform though, solid top (any color) & solid bottom (any color, including jeans). The one problem I have is that they aren't allowed to wear anything with hoods, not even coats. Now, I really like this idea until it comes to buying the coats!! Have you tried to buy a jacket without a hood lately?? It's hard to say the least, so far I haven't found one. Any suggestions??

One word thift stores is a excellent places to buy uniforms. I know there where I buy uniforms to wear to school. Yes I am teacher we have to wear the same uniforms as the kids do. Only one problem the pants has be black pants and thats hard to find cheap.

eBay & Goodwill are 2 good sources. My kids can only wear Parker & those are 2 good sources I've found for used uniforms.

Landsend.com also has uniforms. In fact, they just had some in their clearance section not too long ago. Don't know if they are still there though.

Go with Lands End! They will last.

I LOVE uniforms:lovestruc

we have a JCPENNY return store here. They always have the best price on uniforms. i dont like my girls in uniform one more year then high school woohooo no more uniforms. i hate buying uniforms then clothing for everyday wear and then theres dress down...... i know thats hard on all the parents.

TallyTutter-

How about jackets with detachable hoods? You can just take it off for school.

BTW (you can probably tell from my screenname) I went to college in Tally and observed at a bunch of schools (I have a music ed. degree)...hope your daughter enjoys her new school! :thumbsup2

I bought a lot from the Lands' End clearance section for next fall.

I just set the bag away with the shipping insert. If by chance they don't fit come September, I can return them.

I only buy from Lands End or Sears. They are sometimes not as cheap as I can find them at other places, but I have three boys and it's impossible to get through a school year without knee blowouts on the pants.

Lands End and Sears guarantee that their clothes will last longer than your kids will take to grow out of them. We have taken them up on that guarantee several times by replacing pants with holes in the knees for new ones.

My daughter wears school uniforms and we get some great deals at Gymboree.

The other suggestions are good, also...Sears, Kohls, Lands End...Good luck!

Do you need a receipt to exchange at Sears? Also, is the guarantee good on all brands or just their brands? My sons have gone through several jeans this year, that was one big worry I had about them wearing dress pants!
