I booked one of those pirate: pirate adventures around the bay for my 2 boys 5 & 7. My mother is freaking out that they will be on their own on a boat. Its only for 2 hours, and I think they'll get a kick out of being a pirate for a little while.

Has anyone else done this? How did it go? Do you think its worth the $28 a kid?

Thanks! :cutie:

My kids did the pirate adventure last September. DD was 7 and DS was 4 at the time. They both loved it. They couldn't stop talking about it. The nice thing was DH and I had two hours of our time to do whatever and we were able to see the kids for most of thier adventure from one spot on the beach. I think you should relax, find a great spot and a good book becuase its not just the kids time but yours as well! Enjoy the peace!

DD9 and DS4 did this on our last trip. Tell your mom not to worry. The kids are buddied up, wearing life jackets and are supervised by several CMs. The cruise size is limited, and every thing is very organized and controlled. Our cruise had around 12 kids, and there were 3 CMs on the boat. The kids had so much fun!

DH and I went over to the Poly for some Tonga Toast while the kids were on their cruise. It made for a lovely Saturday morning. Don't miss their return, though. It's really cute! :)

DS's who were 7, & 6 did it last year and had a blast. DH, DD, and I went over to the Poly for breakfast at Kona and enjoyed ourselves.

Thank you all. My fears are eased now, and hopeful my mother's will be too. I think that all the adults in our group (5) are going to go to a nice quiet grown up breakfast while the kids are on their trip.;)

Thanks again for the advice! I definitely feel better spending the money on it now, and less worried about safety. LOL! :woohoo:

Tell mom not to worry. My DD did the one from the Y&BC. Very cute. You get to meet all the adult crew before they leave so mom can get a feel for who they will be out with. We lucked out and there was only 1 other little girl on ours. Well worth the money to have an almost private cruise.

I loved it, they were so into the treasure hunt that when it was time to come ashore and actually find the chest they didnt even notice me and her dad sitting about 20 yards away on a the deserted beach. :lmao: I got some fantastic shots. The CM's noticed us and we very wisely just did a quick nod to each other. :rotfl2:

OH, make sure you put some sunscreen on their little cheeks and other exposed areas. I forgot to (wasnt feeling good that day) and when I did remember I figured it was cloudy and they were under cover on the boat anyway. OOOPS! Been a while since I spent time on the water. LOL Just a bit pink when she came back.;)

I think its about the best value on property! Our son has done 3 and loved each one.

Here're the GF cruise pics:

OMG! I love the pirate bandannas pirate: that they get. Now i know, my boys will love this!
Their going on the one at the Caribbean hotel. It was the only one open for the days i had available. My Disney schedule is so organized, i think I've become obsessed. :upsidedow

Thank you all for the great advice!:cutie:

How do you go about booking one of these cruises? I think my nephew would love it! We're staying at POR in October.....

My ds6 will be doing this in June....looks & sounds like a lot of fun! He's doing the GF one....the bandanas are so cute!

I sent a PM, but for others heres the pirate: info:

There are several different pirate adventures at different resorts.
They are as follows:
Albatross Treasure Cruise (Yacht Club)
Disney's Pirate Adventure (GF)
Bayou Pirate Adventure Cruise (POR)
Islands of the Caribbean Pirate Adventure (CBR)

Call (407) WDW-DINE to book them. They can help you figure out which is best for your schedule.

The cost is $28.17 per child and are for children 4 yrs to 10yrs. All seem to include a treasure hunt and a lunch which is a PB&J sandwhich, cookie, and juice. And all are from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. Each resort offers different days.

I want my son to do this but he is a little nervous about being on his on. I think I'll show him the pics and see if he'll go.

Lovely to see this thread. I have booked DD6 on this in June from the GF and she is excited but I didn't know anyone who had done it to get an idea of what it was like. So booked it hoping it would be fun. She is going to love it!
Lx

My son would love this but he is 11, is there anything like this for older kids?

Slight correction...the trips are for ages 4-12. I keep seeing it listed as 4-10 on certain websites but it's an error. I have the Albatross cruise booked for my DS4 and DS11 and my friend's son who is 12. When I booked, I asked the CM I talked to if the cruises were up to age 10 or 12 and she said 12 so go ahead and call.

Oooo.. good info. I have been going by those ages too and I thought my 12 yo couldn't go. My 8yo really doesn't want to go alone but if his sister could go with him I think they would have a blast.

Thank You Stacey for sharing your pictures...We are going to our first trip to Disney in June and I booked this cruise for my 3 kids the week of June 9 out of GF and it looks like it will be so much fun for my kids...

And of course, the plus side is that my hubby & I get 2 hours of peace!

Hi
I am so glad this goes up to 12! My 11 yr old really wants to do this with her little brother who is going to be 6 when we go. Okay, since we are booking this in the land of magic, I am sure that each of these cruises will be out of this world for the kids. Here is the real question, what one would be best for me, lol. Are any of these close to something hubby and I could do (besides eat) for the 2 hrs they will be gone?

Thanks!
Dana

I know you said "besides eat", but DH and I will be having breakfast at the GF Cafe while our 6 year old boys are on the GF Pirate Cruise. Cruise starts at 9:30 and our ADR is at 10:00. It will be nice to have a meal by ourselves!:)
