Just curious how many people are bringing (young) kids on the Mediterrean cruises??

Thinking when the youngest is 4 I should be ok? I really want to do this cruise!!!

I am taking my 2 ds, one is 6 and one is 2 (we did a transatlantic crossing on Cunard last year but have never done a cruise with ports) but i have to say i am getting increasingly worried bc no one else seems to be taking littlies!! Still at least kids clubs will be quiet!

We are bringing our 2 girls ages 4 and 6 to the 8 night dover to barcelona this July. My girls have been on international trips before and were great so I dont anticipate any problems on this one. They are both super excited and are interested in learning about the ports.

We brought our 3 children (18 months, 5 and 7) with us on the recent Apr 24 med cruise. There were also many other children onboard although I don't know how this compares to the caribbean cruises as I've never been on one! It was tiring because of the high number of port days but a lot of fun. We had a fabulous time!

We are bringing our 3 year old DD on the May 15th Med cruise.. we travel lots and couldn't pass up the opportunity of this trip.. I hope there are at least a few other kids her age for kids club and pool time ;)
i'm sure i'll post a trip report when we get back and i'll be sure to say if there were a lot of kids on board..

In '07 we did the 11 day with our five children - ages 8, 7, 5, 3, and 6 months. It was a lot of work, but worth it. there were only 30 children registered in Flounders, but there were plenty of kids in the clubs and around the ship. In fact I would say there was a nice number of kids -not too many, but enough for the kids to have fun and not feel like you are the only one with kids at dinner. Have fun. We would do it again in a minute. The older ones definitely have very vivid memories of the ports, but of course they loved the boat best of all.

We are taking our kids ds (6) and dd (15mths) on the 26th May med cruise. I am not worried in the slightest. I know we won't be able to run around ports doing loads but we can see a little of each port and the kids will be given plenty of time to play by the pool etc.

My girls will be 5 and 7 we havent cruised before but have done transatlantic flights so dont think it will be a problem dover barcelona 30th july btw

We are doing the Barcelona Dover this year and our dd is five.

However, we have cruised consistently in the Med and Baltics (apart from one trip over to Florida and DCL), since she was just over a year old.

There is absolutely no problems with little ones, we have found that cruising is better than hotels, as they have kids clubs, plenty of room to run around without bothering others, the food is reliable, facilities always clean and you arrive next day in a new country/city, without all the packing up!

Open top buses, aquariums, street entertainers, Gondolas and fountains, are all great to a child! Sometimes there is even a beach too.

Go for it and enjoy!

Thanks for the responses. I was/am more worried about the flight but seems as though no one had problems!!

I know what you mean. We have flown over to the US a few times and was dreading it, but it actually was OK. Just took lots of things to keep her amused and put her PJ's on at the right time, before the lights dimmed and had quiet time, to try and keep routine a bit.

Seemed to work.

We are taking our 2 DDs aged 5 and 2 on the dover to Barcelona cruise. Re the flight, we went to Florida from the UK last year and cruised DCL as well as visiting WDW - the flight was better than I thought and the children were only 4 and 1 and a half. i am sure you will be fine, just pack lots of light weight entertainment for the flight.

My boys (now 6 and 3) have done many, many transatlantic flights because we lived in France for the last 2 years for my husband's job. The flight over is the easiest, because you usually travel overnight. By the time you do dinner, you can put on PJs (or just travel in comfy clothes) and sleep the whole way! On the way back, the boys would usually watch movies (we liked to fly Northwest or Air France for the tv's in every coach seat), color, and play games. We did a Med cruise with them when they were 5 and 2, and they loved it! We did NCL because Disney wasn't over there yet, and they still LOVED the kids club, which was no where near as big as Disney's.

We are doing the Med cruise with our DD (9) and DS (soon to be 7). The kids are super excited about all the interesting places they will be seeing. I must admit our son has had the travel bug since he could walk - its pretty cool. As far as the flight over goes - hopefully dramamine or kids nyquil (sp) knocks them out. We built 5 days in before the cruise for their body clocks to adjust.

We are cruising the end of Aug. Med with 3 little children - 5, 3 and 1. We wanted to do the cruise as soon as it was announced and are not that afraid of cruising with the little ones. Our kids can't wait for the trip!
