I went to giftsofalifetime.com and saw those cute engraved plastic name tags that you can get that have the kids names on them and their state (?) it looked like you could order them. Then I read a thread that said they were no longer taken orders for them until further notice but there was no date on the post...so is this old news? or are they doing it again?? anyone know??

Not sure of giftsofalifetime.com, but you can get what they call guest of honnor badges with your childrens name on them right in Disney. :)

i heard you can get them in the back of the "Christmas shop" where they monogram the mickey ears, but i was wondering about "pre-ordering" them from somewhere before then??

These sound great! But my two cents is that I would be scared to put a nametag on my children. Especially young ones. If they get separated from you, a stranger could call them by name (that they read on the tag) and they will think they are safe since they know their name. This is the reason I don't have my daughter's name monogramed on her school backpack.

These sound like great souveniers though! :)

Not sure about availability from gifts of a lifetime, but we love our GOH (Guest of Honor) badges. We first purchased some at DL, but when we were at WDW last time, dh lost his, and we replaced it at a store in MGM/Studios. Can't remember the name of the store, but it was on the right side from the entrance as you walked down the street. Funny though, when we asked everyone from the resort cm's to cm's at the MK, etc. everyone had a different story about where and if we could buy them. Most reliably I heard the Christmas store at DD and the shop I found at MGM. Don't worry about getting them ahead of time.

Oh, and I have never seen one with your state on it, though our original ones had Disneyland on them, so when dh lost his, we all got new ones that say Walt Disney World. Didn't know if it was bad form to wear ones from DL at WDW, LOL. They also sometimes have had different colors available, with different characters on them as well. I believe it is just CMs who have their homestate on them. (just as you cannot buy a white one)

Only you will know if you are comfortable having your child wear a nametag. We find the benefits and joy outweigh any fear of bad possible scenarios.

thanks for all the valuable info... i am not really finicky about my kids having nametags and folks knowing their names...i was more concerned about that when they were younger, but they are now 8 & 11 and know the ins and outs of strangers, being abducted, taking food/candy from strangers, etc. besides- if anyone did nab them they would CERTAINLY bring them back in a hurry when they saw how "high maintenance" they were! :) HA

what is your experience with film speeds/photos and night time shots of parades and fireworks, i am a little worried about my pics turning out of those...i read to use really high speed like 800, but my photo processor/friend said no- but to go with the 200 speed....what ta do???

I just rec'd some of the "GOH" badges from www.giftsofalifetime ($6.50 + shipping) for my nieces and nephew who are headed for Disney, although I believe they are currently on a cruise right now.

I also purchased some from the Christmas shop in Downtown Disney in August ... they only had red Mickey ones ($5.00).

My g'kids got "extra" attention from the CMs and characters while wearing the name badges ... they are 6 & 8 and we weren't worried about strangers knowing their names ... but we also explained that if they got separated to go to the nearest shop, go to the register and tell the CM behind the counter that they were lost ... we also showed them the "real" CM badges and to look for them.

They were great. The cm's were calling my DD by her name and she really felt special.

My kids wear theirs on their pin lanyards. They do like getting called by name by the CM's and it helps us keep straight whos lanyard is who's :)

yea they're a cool thing to have. i remember getting them somewhere by cinderella's carousel:tongue:

I order one for my DD over a month ago and was able to get it. Try again!
