Kids' meals substitutions?

With 5 kids we end up with an overabundance of leftover bags of carrots and apple slices. When QS kids meals "come with" sides what are other options? We rarely do french fries. Can you order without the sides and have it cost less? What are the other options? Grapes? Apple sauce? Anything else?
Thanks!

Yogurt and cookies are at almost all the QS places as substitutions. However, each place may also have something else. I would just ask everywhere you go to see what they have. I don't think you can get them without the sides for a cheaper price. Adult QS you can get just the entree out of a combo and it will be cheaper, but I've never heard of anyone doing it with kid's meals.

Are you on the dining plan?
We got moldy grapes once - so got turned off them when my kids were little.
I am asking since maybe they'd rather order off the regular menu and share. You can order many items without sides on the adult menu. They don't advertise that. Maybe the kids' menu does offer that, but I don't think so (and don't blame you on the fries thing - my son would eat fries but I don't care for them).

No DDP for us. We could still order whatever and split it, but often we still end up with more bags of carrots and apples than they'll ever eat.

If you order an adult meal for them to split they won't get carrots (although you can normally choose apples or fries) and won;t come with a drink but you can ask for the free cups of water to drink instead. You can also order only the entree on an adult item and not have the sides.

With no DDP, then yes, I'd look into ordering adult meals to share as an option, and ask about no sides if the option is just fries.
There are lots of places that aren't burgers & fries also! Like, at MK Cosmic Ray's - my DD and I share the rotisserie chicken meal (half a chicken, mashed potatoes and fresh veggies), and at DAK we share the honey chicken with rice (and we get a side of fried rice) at Yak & Yeti Local Foods (and it's a lot of food). At Epcot there are lots of choices - we share at Tangerine Cafe as the meals there are huge!

Did you know, now with new rules for DDP you can choose adult QS meals for kids QS credits too? (They've never tracked them separately, but now they officially allow the use.)

My kids almost always split adult meals, especially the chicken nuggets. The kids nuggets are gross but the adult ones are delicious!

Yes, to answer your question, you can order the kids meals without the sides and it will cost less. We do it all the time. My son doesn't even get a drink with his, just the free comp water. He doesn't like the carrots or grapes either and seldom will eat fries. One example is to just order a side of mac &cheese. Lots of the QS restaurants have this or the resorts. Also, just order the burger by itself. No problem at all.
