I have a 10 dd who is a very picky eater. For our trip in November, we are planning a few TS meals and were wondering if we might be allowed to order a kids meal for my 10 year old if we offer to pay more or pay an adult price.

Has anyone else ever done this or heard of this being done? Would it depend on the restaurant or server we get?

Thanks!

ps - we won't be on the dining plan.

Yes, you can order a kids meal and pay the kid meal price. I have not heard of anyone having an issue with this. Alot of people do this:)

Sorry...I wasn't real clear.

I thought that kids meals were only for children aged 9 and under. Since my dd is 10, I was asking if I would be allowed to order a kids meal for her if I offer to pay an adult price (since she is a very picky eater).

Does anyone know if Disney allows this? :confused3

I'm 50 and I've been able to order a kids meal with no problem. So have posted that they were charged a higher price and given larger portions but that hasn't been my experience.

You may not even have to pay an adult price. Check with the restaurant. Don't offer to pay the adult price unless you want to get her a larger portion, just ask if she can have a kids meal.

If you were on the dining plan would have to pay for her meal with an adult credit even if she orders off the kids menu. You could always pay for her meal in cash and then use the credit elsewhere.

At buffets and all you can eat restaurants you will need to pay the adult price for her. I know there is a separate kids menu at 'Ohana for those who want it, but as far as I know, if she wants to order from that you'll still have to pay the adult price for her meal.

That only applies to the DDP and or buffets. All of the Disney buffets have chicken nuggets/pizza/mac& cheese, not just for kids but for anyone.

Thanks, everyone. I knew you guys on the Dis would have some great advice! :thumbsup2

At least now I'm not worried about my dd existing on Mickey bars and Dole whips for a week.:rotfl: Hey...actually that sounds kind of tempting! :rotfl:

I am also traveling with my 10 year old daughter this July. We will not be doing the dining plan too. I had planned on her eating off the kids menu but just read in another post that Tutto Italia wouldn't let a poster's children order off the kids menu because they were older than 9. Now this has me worried that maybe I better get the dining plan???

Never been to Tutto, so I can't speak to that experience. I do know that my kids were able to order off the child's menu after they were 9 years old many times at many different restaurants without incident. I would not get the dining plan simply because you are concerned about a 10 year old being able to order off the kid's menu; this will likely not be an issue.

Each restaurant is going to be different. Each server may also be different. If another poster was told by a server at Tutto that only 9 and under may order from a child's menu, that doesn't mean it will be the same at every restaurant, and it may not mean the same will happen to you at Tutto. They might have gotten a server who was either unaware of the restaurant's particular rules or chose to enforce them strictly.

If you want to get the dining plan just to save money on one meal for one party member at Tutto, make sure it's what you want for the full party. Without the dining plan she could order only one course, or just ask for plain spaghetti if that's the sort of thing you're after. On the dining plan the kid would be entitled to a full adult entree and dessert. If it's a rule that you can't order off the kids menu when you're 10 they probably won't let her do it on the dining plan either.

Tutto, by the way, is not a Disney-operated restaurant and they may do things differently than Disney-operated restaurants would.
