I just found this deal with Alaska Airlines good from January 2011 - April 2011. Thought I would post it here since I hadn't seen it on DISboards. It's only good from certain airports... but our local one Reno was on there and it isn't very big.

Alaska does this every year. But they also charge for every little thing. AND you have to boot the hotel through them too. So you don't get too many options and can't do special hotel rates. Sometimes it is more expensive this way.

You are sooo right about that. A family whom I knew did the kids fly free from Vancouver to LAX. They used this promotion for flights and 4 nights' hotel. Their short trip cost them approx. $2400 for 4 people! Even though the kiddies are "free", there's still the taxes for each kid that has to be paid.

I personally find that since you have to book your hotel at one of DL onsite hotels that it negates any savings, as you are paying probably double over staying offsite at one of the good neighbour hotels. You probably could find better deals by booking the hotel, and air directly, and hunting for seat sales. JMHO

You can book offsite hotels with this special. I just called them last week..... but I still think it's a ripoff. They don't break down the expense for you, they just give you a flat rate for airfare, tickets and hotel.... so you can't really tell how much you are paying for everything.

I'd do it in a heartbeat if it was just airfare.

This is a good point. There is ALWAYS a catch!!!
