Our trip in Oct. is to celebrate my daughters 16 bday. I am letting her bring a friend. The 2 16 y/o and my 13 y/o son will be going to MGM while my hubby and I are going to Epcot for the food and wine festival. Anyways this is the first time I have let them go to a park alone and they want to eat at the Brown Derby. I am not sure if this is a good idea. They are well behaved and smart enough to handle it, but I am not even sure if this is allowed. Please give me your opinion on this and if any one knows if there is an age rule.

I made an ADR for my DD14 and DN13 for Rose and Crown, we are eating at LeCellier and I needed one more spot for my N, they didn't have it. I told the CM their ages when I made the resssie she said it was fine. So they will be eating there while I'm at LeCellier.

I can't imagine it would be a problem. At 16 they're old enough to drive to any restaurant they want. My kids (DD14, DS11) have never gone for TS by themselves (yet :rolleyes1 ) but they's gone for CS by themselves quite a few times over the last few years. They also went to the park (Epcot from BWV) by themselves on the last trip.

The kids will have a great time and a great meal! (love Brown Derby  )

I think that is a great idea. As long as they know how they are paying and how to tip appropriately, it will be fine.

What a treat for the kids too!

Will your family/friend be on the Dining Plan? If so no budget worries. As for the tip They'll get a receipt for a suggested tip you can tell them to just pay or sign for the 18% std tip.

If you are on the Deluxe Plan they'll get appetizers. If you are on the Basic Plan they will have to pay extra for any appetizers they order. Just be sure they know what plan they're on and whether or not you'd condone any extras. They'll get an entree, dessert and drink regardless of plan.

Finally, siblings are siblings just make sure the 13yo knows his sister is indeed "the boss of him" in your absence and that walking off or giving her a hard time is not an option. Hopefully they're great buds and this isn't even a possibility, but :stir: he's a little brother hanging with his older sister and her friend. :rolleyes1 I just returned from a HS reunion. My classmate and I both are the oldest, only girl with two younger brothers, so we could "relate". Her brother was at one of the reunion events, a very grown man, but I told him his name during HS was "that Jamie". :rotfl: May us big sisters unite. :hippie:

Let me add that DD & DS are typical brother & sister at home and whenever they're with us :rotfl2: but we've found that they get along much better when it's just them :thumbsup2 They have a great time together in the parks ::yes::

I guess I would ask myself if my daughter, her friend and my son would be out somewhere and decided to stop at Chili's for dinner. If they would do that, then why not a dinner at the Brown Derby?
