Now, how much? I couldn't really tell you that. However, didn't someone answer that in a previous post? Also, I don't work much with tulle (although after seeing all these cute outfits, I may well start), but wouldn't you want a nylon tulle? Or are they all nylon? :rotfl: Generally, I think the finer the tulle (the smaller the holes) the softer, less scratchy it is. Again, though, I haven't really used it, so I could be 100% wrong on this. Also, I know my local JoAnn's has lots of different tulle and will be getting more in for Halloween and the holidays.

THRIFT STORE FIND
Okay, this is an Old Navy jumper I bought for $1 at the local thrift store. It is in very good condition with the exception of a few marker spots right on the front, but I knew I could hide those. Anyway, this is the finished product. I'm pretty pleased overall, but of course, there are some things I'd do differently next time. This was a great way to practice applique without a big investment. I like the idea of a challenge; so if anyone wants to try a thrift store/yard sale challenge in addition to the Disney-MGM challenge, please share your results with us.

Thanks for the inspiration everyone.

Very cute!

Here is the My Little Pony Skirt I made for Lydia the other day. I've had the material forever, and kept promising to make her something out of it. You guys inspired me to finally do it! Lydia thanks you all!

I was going to put two layers of elastic in the waist, but then I decided I liked the ruffled look. However, when I asked Lydia if she liked it like that, she said she did not. So, I said, "What kind of little girl doesn't like ruffles." To which she replied, "This kind of little girl right here, Lydia!" But, after she tried it on, she changed her mind, and the ruffle stayed! I also machine stitched the Pony's names to the bottom. I haven't been using this machine long though, so I'm not too good at that part yet! But, Lydia loved it. She also wanted, "More decorations", so I put on the ribbons, and then some flower stitching at the top. She still wants more decorations though!

Well, here it is:

And, here is Lydia wearing it. Even though the picture is fuzzy, feel free to tell me how adorable she is! :rotfl2:

When I got the NBC set and loved it I was having a hard time finding a JoJo outfit that wasn't a fortune. I emailed and asked if she could do one in the same style as NBC. I requested the big top on the twirl dress and Jojo and Goliath on the pants. She would pick out fabric, etc. I guess I trusted too much because I loved the NBC set. I don't like the fabric. I don't like the waist of the pants. They have a header like a curtain (sorry that's the only way I know to describe them!) and the tee that can be worn with the pants has a purple background when there is no purple in the pants. It just doesn't seem to have the same quality as the other set.

It's just not what I had in mind. I thought the big top would be like the one on JoJo, etc. It's sized to fit an 18-24 month.

For what it's worth, I think it's an adorable outfit. I can understand why you are disapointed if it's not what you had in mind though. Did you contact the seller? Could you post a picture with it on your daughter? Maybe it would look different to me then.

Do you mind PM me the seller? My 2 year old is that size and she got all excited when she saw JO Jo up on the computer :)

Here is my dd. Excuse the pictures...it's bedtime so we didn't fix her hair or anything.

Aww, thanks!

I bought some at Walmart today. What is the trick? Just sew straight lines? I want to make a tube top like outfit. The pattern I got calls for preshirred fabric. How much fabric do I need to shirr it for all the way around my DD?

I've never used a pattern like that, but what I do for a tube top like top, is shirr the fabric first and then count on taking it in on the sides for a better fit.
I measure my daughter's chest and add about 4 inches. When I shirr, my machine doesn't make it really tight, so I know I don't need too much extra fabric.

So, how would I go about figuring how much tulle I would need? Also, where can I find the tulle that's not scratchy? Isn't there such a thing? If so, my Walmart doesn't have any!
I just bought more tulle today, at Walmart. I got a gorgeous blue for my cinderella, and some hot pink for my Minnie skirt.
It's not overly scratchy, but they will definately have to wear some little biker shorts, or leggings underneath.

I love puzzles, and I think that is why I enjoy sewing, too. I love putting all the pieces together to make the finish product. I also love trying to figure out how things are done. I the lady you see in the clothing store turning the clothes inside out and really giving it a once over. I just have always been able to look at things and pretty much see how the pieces fit. That's why I'm so intrigued when I can't figure it out.

That is so me! I love the puzzle aspect of it too! In fact, once I have made a pattern once or twice, I am bored with it and move on...or try a new technique to see if I can do it.

Aww! I think your DD looks cute in the outfit. Personally I love the outfit. Can you PM me the seller info? I'd like to see about possibly getting either a shirt or dress like that for my younger DD for our trip in September. At least I can find out how much damage it would do to my checkbook!;)

Oh wow, so like a 'poodle' skirt but, with pluto for the dog. That is hilarious and awesome! You have to do it, I want to see it! :goodvibes I don't think a very short full skirt/skort would be too hot to wear all day. It would be adorable.
Thanks. I went and bought the pattern for a skirt today. (skirt challenged here;) ) I have some green fabric upstairs (aka...old green sheet:lmao: ) Perfect color for the skirt and she has biker shorts (like the t-shirt material kind) in the color of Pluto to wear under it. I plan on Velcro dotting the waist band so it can be taken off and worn seperately. She has no butt and hips to hold it up on its own.:lmao:
I picked up some thin red ribbon for the "leash" part and will put some rhinestones like on the shirt on it, so the skirt looks sparkly too. I have the shirt almost done (2 more letters to rhinestone...**insert sigh of relief here)

And I have made up a brand new tongue twister.....Can you say? Pluto Poodle Skirt 5 times fast ..CRAP! I cant even type it let alone say it. I need one of those gauzy scarfs. Anyone got one I can borrow? I may do Pluto in fun foam (hate hate hate, piecing fabric and dont have a zig zag on my machine) and put him on with that Stick it Again stuff. so I can interchange the critters

Ha ha ha ha that is a good one. :rotfl: Especially with the light saber. ;)
:lmao: :rotfl: I didnt even think about that one...too funny

Very cute. Simple. I like it. :rotfl2: Most of the stuff I am doing for our trip is thrift store or second hand. My other half would kill me if I went and bought a $25 shirt to decorate.

I finally got the JoJo's Circus set in the mail today from the Ebay seller that made my Nightmare Before Christmas set. I don't like it. It's not attractive and it does not live up to the same quality of the first set I purchased. I won't let my dd wear it. It's really bad.:sad1:
.
I saw the pics. It is cute seperately but ummmm?????kinda clashes pattern and color wise together. Maybe you could wear the twirl top with some white leggings. Or the T with some purple pants. The pants you got me on.:confused3

Here is the My Little Pony Skirt I made
I also machine stitched the Pony's names to the bottom. I haven't been using this machine long though, so I'm not too good at that part yet!

My DD would love that. SOOOOO did you have look up the names or can you rattle them off the top of your head like I can? :rolleyes1 :lmao: We have WAYYYYYYYYYY to many MLP's in this house. :rotfl:
BTW...your kid is really ugly:lmao: :lmao: I am kidding you know..she is a cutie.

Lydia and Arminda supplied me with several, but I had to look up most of them! Pinkie Pie (theirfavorite) and Rainbow Dash we knew, but most of the others I had to look up (hangs head in shame).

For our last trip, Lydia saved for months and months to get the My Little Pony box at Downtown Disney. Arminda was SO mad, becasue I would not buy her one! Arminda is NOT a saver!

Well, that's what I get begging for compliments! :rotfl2:

Thanks for the inspiration everyone.

This is too funny! I finished sewing a ruffle on a dress just like this today! I had started messing with it a while back before I went to the mall to get some jeans to make them for a fellow disser and thought let me just sew the ruffle and finish it up! It looks so similar! I'll have to post a picture of it later. I am downstairs and it is upstairs of course!

I won a Mike and Sulley polymer beads tonight! I am so excited. DH doesn't think DS should wear a necklace but too darn bad! Now I am just hoping that his Monsters outfit will still fit him this year. I know the sleeves and pants will be short, we'll just have to see how bad it looks! If not, guess back to the sewing machine!

Personally I think the outfit is pretty cute, but I can definately understand the issues you have with it. I know it must be really hard to turn a project over to someone and not have it turn out how you like especially when you are spending hat kind of money for them. Hopefully you hear back from your seller and you are able to work something out. I really think the twirly top is cute and could probably be paired with something. The shirt is cute in its own right but confuses me because it really doesn't match to anything else. I hope everything works out for you. Please keep us updated to what you decide to do.

Oh! I am so sorry! What a bummer! I see your point about the shirt and pants, it doesn't match at all without some purple somewhere. I don't like the jumper thing either, or whatever it is called. The pants, are well okay. I hate for someone to be disappointed though! The NBC outfit was adorable!

The difference I notice between this and what you usually buy is the detail! This is so simplified compared to what you like! I hope you find something else! I can applique goliath real cute and JoJo's head (never tried her whole body) but I can't, well don't ever, make the outfit it goes on.

What a bummer! I feel like I bought it and am disappointed oddly enough! Relist it though, it will sell I am sure!
