This link has directions for a twirl skirt, and they are free. This is for a skirt with 3 horizontal panels, but I would think it would be easy enough to do a piece work type twirl skirt from this same pattern -- just sew blocks together until you get the right length for a panel.

Hmm, thought I had the picture thing down, I'll have to investigate a bit. Thanks!
I think I've read here before that you can't link here from Kodak gallery. Try uploading into Photobucket and you shouldn't have any problems. I copied the properties from your picture and viewed the picture that way. You did a fabulous job on the dress!!

Okay, here is my next question...

How about hats? I'm thinking now that it is summer, our girls need bucket hats, sun bonnetts or even "mop caps" to protect their fair skin! so I am asking here before I start to search, anyone made their daughter a hat, anyone ever seen free instructions for a hat? Thanks!

Here is DDs outfit for Animal Kingdom day. :) As you can tell, I can't sew at all, but I figured out how to put ribbons on!

I love it!!!!!!!!!11111

I am so annoyed.. I ordered a bunch of red. white and blue ribbons last week from an ebay seller to make my dd the ribbon shorts for the memorial day parade Monday. They haven't arrived yet:mad:

That is perfect. I need to learn to do that for my dd! She would love it.:dance3:

Thanks! Glad you guys liked it. It was super easy. Like I said, I have very minimal sewing talent, and I thought it turned out pretty cute! You really don't have to sew at all - I used a lot of fabric glue - but it helped to secure the ribbons and rick rack on.

I'd be glad to talk you through making a set if you're interested! :)

it only took a little over an hour...and most of it was cutting and ironing ;)

I used the associatedcontent ones. Really easy!! But that said..I'm sure anything from youcanmakethis would be easy too. I've bought 5 or 6 different patterns from there for all different kinds of stuff and they've all been great!

Did I send you the sock directions?

How did you put the appliques on if you did not sew? I can't sew but would love to try this. Also did you make the appliques? Thanks for any advice!

I was at Walmart a couple of days ago, and they had "sticker" appliques. They were embroidered , but had sticker backing? They were in the scrapbooking section. One Minnie, and one Mickey. They were like three inches or maybe four. I wish I had bought them now. I could have just tried to straight stitch around them, or even used fabric glue. They would have been so cute touching hands on the front of a t-shirt dress, or even one on each pocket on the bottom of the shorts. I hope they are there when i go back! I forgot all about using fabric glue!

thanks mini girl for the link for twirl skirt directions. i also found these on a search:

There are a number of different ways to do a twirl skirt.
One is the basic circle skirt:
Heres a link
http://www.gothfashion.info/circlepixie....

Another is a tiered twirl skirt.

Decide how long you would like the skirt to be and divide this number by 3. Add 1 inch for seam allowance. This will be how wide your strips should be.

Measure the child waist. Multiply this number by 2 and add 6 inches. This will be how long your first strip should be. (For my 4 year old I make it 48 inches long)

The second strip should be twice as long as the first strip. (For my 4 year old I make it 96 inches long)

The bottom strip should be twice as long as strip 2. (For my 4 year old I make it 192 inches long)

Close each strip into a circle.
Gather bottom strip on one side and sew to strip 2. Gather strip 2 and sew to strip one. Create a casing across the top and pt in your elastic and hem the bottom

those seem pretty simple and thats what im all about...i easily get confused w/ too many "for example" measurements and some of the directions have a ton. i know theyre trying to be specific and helpful, but lots of #s swimming in my head makes it hurt!:confused3 anyway, i think im gonna give these a try this weekend.

thanks again stefplus3! nice to know a twirl skirt doesnt take too long to make and nope, no sock directions yet. but no hurry (ill be working on the skirt for the next couple of days!:rotfl: so whenever you get the chance id appreciate them!)

anyone have any good hairbow directions? i have the korker directions but sounds very involved and with the humidity right now, id rather not heat up the oven!

hope everyone has a relaxing weekend!

I saw those too! They are so cute! I almost bought one, but decided I should just do it myself (I have the machine). But I wanted to let everyone that is going to disney soon know that they usually sell patches in all the gift shops, they are on a round thing that turns. We were there 2 weeks ago and I never thought to look. I have several from years past and world of disney has run the special buy $10 get a patch for $2.50. They had the cutest MM Club ones. They just iron on. I have a pair of Goofy shorts from when I was in high school! I'll have to look for them, but someone could wear them. I also had Mickey on a pair on of pants, just ironed it on the pocket. It was so cute!

I think later when I find some time I'll sew out some Mickey appliques on felt, add heat n bond and sew around, but that would work pretty easy! Hmm, if only there were more hours in a day.

I'm so glad you all can do this. I'm lost just reading the instructions :confused3 ! I think I'm the only poor sap on the list that will have to continue buying off Ebay.

BTW, I got my dd's It's a Small World Set in the mail this week. I'll try to post a picture tomorrow. Also, my dd's JoJo set should be here next week.

You are all doing great work!
