I must have copied this tshirt design from you in the past. DD2 wore hers today.

How are the jeans holding up?

Do you mind if I copy the Little Einsteins next? :rotfl: She would love those!

That would be just fine!!!! The jeans are doing great!!!

Can someone explain something to me? I have absolutely no talent when it comes to sewing. The sad thing is I keep trying.
For the Little Einsteins outfit, is that an iron on transfer? Do you obtain the image online and then print it onto the special iron transfer paper? And then iron it onto the outfit?

Starting to think about Ds clothes for our trip. He will turn 2 while we are there and probably will be in a 3t or 4t for one-piece outfits. Last year I loved those one piece tshirt romper outfits. Some of them were sleveless (looked like a tank top that snapped under the crotch). I of course cannot find any plain ones to jazz up. Anyone ever see a pattern for these or have any idea how I can make one. I was thinking of tracing one and making my own pattern, but wasn't sure how hard it would be.

Pretty sure they are iron ons. If you go to the disigns board her on disboards you will find tons and tons of wonderful images that can be used to make shirts, etc. They will even personalize them for your child/family. Print and iron on. Super easy!!!

keep the pics coming...too cute and so inspiring- even for a beginner like me! ive seen tons of cute jean capris with fabric ruffles at the bottom. could someone please help me get a clue...how do you sew the ruffle on so that the jeans dont fray and it doesnt look like i just stuck a ruffle on it, if you know what i mean. dd has a pair of jeans that have become too short but still fit, thought id give it a whirl... thanks!

I know I showed (this that a word? :confused3) you all this outfit before, but I was relisting it today, and came across more photos. This was our Animal Kingdom outfit from last year. It's amazing to see how much my (not so little) one's have grown.
My new Animal Kingdom outfit is on hold. I ran out of fabric (is that even possible...LOL) and won't get to the fabric store until the weekend. So in the meantime, I'm working on a halter top, with this Mickey fabric that is to die for. I bought it a long time ago, and saved it for the perfect outfit. Well, I never thought of anything, so I'm just making a halter top and some simple capris. I will show photos of it this weekend. I should be finished with it by then. Happy Sewing everyone!!

WOW!!! I love this outfit! Your DD is soooooo cute too! princess: She looks like one the models you see in the kids clothing catalogs.

I only wish my DD was a girly girl, but she is all tomboy and would kick and scream at the thought of wearing a skirt. :sad1:

I just started reading this thread and I'm blown away with how crafty some of you ladies are. Maybe it will inspire me to become a little more familiar with my own sewing machine! ;)

You all know I love to brag.... LOL...but this is my favorite photo of Miss Ireland!!

Finally!! I figured out the button hole option on my machine. I was scared to use the "one step button hole" b/c on my scrap fabric it was being eaten down into the machine but on the dress with the interfacing it was A-OK!! 2 outfits down and one to go :thumbsup2 (the swirly mickey print outfit) plus 2 more sets of bows. One to match the tinkerbell dress and one to match the swirly mickey.

She wasn't really in the photographing mood seeing that I finished it while she was napping and threw it right on her once she woke up, lol (hence the tink pillowcase dress being modeled by the rug), and she has 2 bows to go with the mickey dress but she was only wearing one ponytail today.

You could either hem the jeans up a little, or if they're too short and you add a ruffle, they may be the perfect length. The easiest way I found to do ruffles is cut a strip 2 times at length around the cuff and 2 times as wide. Fold it in half and stitch together with a very big, loose straight stitch. Stitch right off the end (don't lock the stitch) and then pull the thread to gather it up. Pin it on the jeans (on the inside) and sew on! It's pretty easy, and I have to sewing skills at all!

stefplus3,

Great work! Do you mind sharing the instructions you used to make the pillowcase dress?

thanks. I used these instructions that I found somewhere on another "chat" site. I bought 1 1/2 yrd of the fabric because I didn't know what I was going to make with it when I was at the store. There are instruction on www.andersonplace.net too with measurements and pictures. Only thing different is the andersonplace site says to use a cut strip of fabric around the arm holes and the instructions below say to use bias tape. I used double fold bias tape, much easier imo than trying to get a strip of fabric to lie flat.

Pillowcase Dress Instructions

1. Take selvedge edges and make a center back seam.
2. Then fold the sides together and fold down a one inch casing and pin. Use armhole pattern to cut armholes. Undo casing.
3. Use Bias Tape on arm holes, clip curves before completing final step with bias tape.
4. Fold down casing 1" and stitch.
5. Hem bottom, some of them I put "dingle balls" on.
6. Run Ribbon 30-36 inches (X’s 2) through each casing. Treat with fray check.

I use between 27" and 30" for a size 4-7. I used a full yard on a size 8 for a child like me with very long legs.

That is tooooo funny!!!!!:rotfl:

OK, I finally got all my pics uploaded!!

I was inspired to buy a sewing machine after seeing all the wonderful stuff here. These are my first 2 experiments.

And last, but not least, the fabulous minnie twir skirt set. My dd LOVES this one!!!!! Just arrived today and I'm so happy with it.

I think I'm nuts b/c we are only going to be at Disney for 2 days!!! But, I know the overalls will fit my dd for a while. She has tons of room to grow. I also just ordered some minnie bows for my dd! Can't wait to get them as well.

WOW! There are sooooo many cute things on here. I have not sewn anything since 7th grade home ec, but I'm dying to try a pillowcase dress. For some reason even that seems out of my league! hahaha Maybe I should stick to iron ons.

Tanyaandalllie -- I really like the way the top part of your pillowcase dress looks. Did you make a double row of casing? Maybe I missed that in the directions, but the photo of your dress indicates that you did something a little different and I like the "shirred" look.

Don't feel bad, I am right there with you. I can do the basics on my sewing machine, but the thought of using a pattern for something...hahaha! :rotfl:

I agree...I like the pillowcase dress too. Any tips for us ladies who may be a little green when it comes to sewing? :confused3

it will look like that once you gather it on the child :) no need to do anything extra! mine looks flatter b/c the rug dosen't have a body to tie it around, lol.

or looking at it again, she might have used elastic in the casing (no ribbon) and the ties are the long ends of the bias tape from around the arm holes. there was a site that had those directions somewhere in this post i think. it's another way to make the dress if you didn't want a long ribbon near your dd neck (choking hazard for little ones unsupervised)
