Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes

I think I made one pair of overalls, but sadly I think in florida it's just too hot to wear them. My poor daughter wore a custom pair that was made for her, and we had to change her into another outfit at the park. She was sweating, so bad.

I think that is probably why I don't buy them. I don't think they breathe well at all. Living down here in the South (I'm in Atlanta and it's called "Hotlanta" for a reason!!! And then there's the whole potty issue that I don't want to deal with!

Don't get me wrong, I have seen some the cutest custom boutique overalls on here and if I didn't have my hang-ups about them - I would be making them for my daughter too!!

Just wanted my fellow boutique/disney/sewing fanatics to know that yesterday at WalMart I got overalls on clearance for $3.00! These are a little better than basic (a few details on the back pockets) and will be PERFECT to try the boutique overall ideas on. They had all sizes (4--16).

I will have to make a trip.. I bought a few pair 2 weeks ago for my 7yo and they were $5. I am going to cut them into shortalls.

I just finished up a paor of CARS overalls for DS1- and I used khaki overalls. They are not early as heavy as the Denim! So, that's an option if anyone is worried about the heat :) They were really fun to make!

And just where are the pics of the adorable overalls - we must see them!!!

I have been watching this thread for a while and the outfits are so cute. It got me thinking that it's all about kids. My MIL told me on Sunday she had been trying to find a cute Mickey themed belt for out upcoming trip, and had looked at the Disney store at the Mall of America and D shopping on line and had no luck. So I started thinking I know you can buy the belt loops like those used on the ribbon belts, so I would make one for her as a surprise:idea: . I just finished it and it is SOOOOO CUTE if I do say so myself:worship: :rotfl2: .

I took red grosgrain ribbon in 1 1/2" width and white in 1" width and sewed them together with black thread, so there is a small line of black on the edge of the white. Then I bought a set of small Mickey themed stamps and using black fabric markers on the stamp alternated Mickey and Minnie faces along the white ribbon. I then folded the completed ribbon in half, tucked in the loops and sewed it up with red thread. I made the ribbons long enough to fold in half so both sides of the belt were the same and when the ribbon is pulled through the loops it looks identical. It was so easy and took me only about 2 hours, and that was with constant interruptions from my DD and having bobbin problems with my machine. I just think it's so fun and why can't we moms have something custom made too. I like it so much I think I am going to have to make one for myself;) ! Now my kids want one too.

We Need Pics Of The This Belt!!! Please Post Some Pics!!

I did take some before I give it to her tonight. I will try to get them on later tonight after my DD goes to dance, cause I don't have time now:hourglass . I don't really know how:confused3 , so it could take me a while to figure it out. If I can't I'll see if my DH can, he's better at that kind of thing then me;) .

I've been considering doing some things for eBay lately. I recently changed my eBay id to wear*in*the*world. This thread was just the inspiration I needed. Later I am going to post some pics of my girls wearing some of the stuff I've made them.

I have thought about doing this before, but I am to afraid of having a non-ruffle spot. Like If I ran out of material.. Do you use a serger to do your ruffles? :goodvibes jen

I have a Gathering "trick" that produces the most beautiful gathers and ruffles. I use 3 gathering threads, one on the seam, one above and one below. That way, after you gather it up you have 2 holding rows keeping your gathers just perfect as you sew. This keeps the garment looking "handmade" instead of "homemade" :goodvibes It does take an extra minute or so, but it looks better than any other way. They turn out perfect.

Where are you near in Atlanta? I understand if you don't want to say. I am in Winder now, a bit north on 85.

The outfit is adorable! I love the fabric! I remember you posting it before and meant to go and take a look as it matches our bedroom quite well!

RUFFLES - I do the same idea kind of but I use dental floss. Sew it on with zigzag, going over the floss, then pull the floss at the end. Pin and sew.

I have done this as well. I have used crochet thread and zig zaged over it. Works very well on the right application.

For all of you making outfits - do you make your DD's hair bows to match?

For all of you making outfits - do you make your DD's hair bows to match?

I made my DD5 matching bows to go with her outfit for our recent trip. I have made her bows since she was a newborn. I love making them.

I would love to post some pics, but can't figure it out, any suggestions anyone?

I do! I always make them on alligator clips so I can use those little clear bands to put her hair up tight enough that it will stay and then clip the bow in.

I love making hair bows as well! I started making my daughters bows when she was a newborn too! We have several Mickey Mouse bows to go with various outfits she's had and I can't wait to make her new ones for our upcoming trip!!

Yes, I've been making bows to match her outfits too. I love the bows at Gymboree but hate the prices!! I decided to try to make them and found it's not too hard! I did have to make a few "practice" bows before I got good at them.

OK gang I am going to try uploading pictures of my belt. I tried to do it and I know I haven't succeeded so someone needs to tell me what to do. If I have the picture in my Adobe Photoshop files how do I get them onto here. Once someone tells me I'll try again

You have to upload your pics to a hosting website - I use photobucket.com Then you paste the IMG link here.

I make my own hairbows! With 4 DD's I spent TONS of money on hair accessories! I bought the instructions off of ebay last year. It's so cheap to make your own.
Here are our "Disney" bows
