It was $4.44 and that was the regular price--not on clearance. It has a cute little bow where your sternum would be. I was thinking of taking this off, somehow attaching a Minnie head, and then sewing the bow back on Minnie's head. I think I have someone who could sew the head on for me. Should I glue it down first?

I would glue it down first. Find a good template for the Mickey/Minnie head that's the size you want and then trace it and cut out the fabric. Then the person who sews it for you can just stitch around it to secure it and give it a finished look. Or there are some really cute pre-made appliques on eBay that look great just glued on. I can PM you a seller I've had good experience with if you're interested. The Minnie on the shirt below is a premade applique that I glued on. :thumbsup2

I can't wait to check out Walmart to see if they have the red dress! Everyone will have to post what they did with theirs when we're done!

Another "cheat"ers outfit!

WalMart has a red polka dot halter dress for less than $5! How cute would that be with a Mickey or Minnie applique and some ribbon trim...I might even add one of those fluffy "tutu" skirts underneath for a fun look!

:goodvibes LOL I bought this same dress last week for my youngest DD who will be 14 months on our trip! I looked at them again the other day and only one left on the rack! Glad I found it when I did. LOL :wizard:

:goodvibes I still need something for my oldest DD. She will be almost 8 and wears 10/12+ and could never squeeze into one of these even as a top. LOL :confused3

:goodvibes Still trying to figure out something. I don't have a sewing machine and so totally not creative. :confused3

I am sure this has been covered on here before, so if someone can be kind enough to direct me there....

I have two sons, 4 and 2........anything cute out there for them besides the usual t-shirts??? Thanks

I have DS4, way back on the beginning pages I have pictures of outfits I have made him, probably somewhere between pages 1-15. It can be done for boys, just isn't as fun, no ruffles!

I'm all about a "cheat"ers outfit!!! I'll be there first thing tomorrow looking for some!! I bet I could get a 5t and it would fit dd8 as a halter!

I am so glad there are other "cheaters" like me out there! I am doing one for DD now and I bought two sizes up for a our trip in 2 yrs. If it is too small I could do it with capris or shorts- thanks for the tip on using it as a halter top!!!

I bought the same dress, and I was planning the same thing. LOL. Great minds think alike...

tnmom25 & design_mom -- re the "pillowcase" dresses --

I think most of the ones that have been posted on this thread do not apepar to have been made from pillowcases. The directions that I have read do not use a pillowcase. Just purchase the length of fabric that you need and sew the seam (you will now have a tube) and that seam becomes one side. Hem one edge and the top edge is the one you use for the casing. All the directions that have been previously posted are very thorough. Check out the earlier posts on this. Happy sewing!

Thanks Grandmouse,

I made my first pillowcase dress this weekend, using instructions earlier in this thread. (I didn't start from a pillowcase.) I was pretty happy with the way it came out -- especially since I haven't really sewed since high-school.

Sounds easy enough, we'll see!!! I guess I'll have to do it now, since design_mom has done one!! I have some Ariel fabric somewhere, I'll try to use that!! Wish me luck!

When my son was little, I used to make him "theme" shorts using a basic shorts pattern--which are super easy.
I would just pick out cute fabric for him, like bugs or cars and then buy a coordinating t-shirt or tank. He always looked cute and people always commented on the cute shorts.

I think it would be easy also to do a pair of patched jeans for a little boy, using Disney fabric for the patches, much like the little girls decoupaged jeans sold on ebay.

I kind of miss those days, when I could sew for him. He's almost 14 now, no way would I get away with a homemade outfit for him now!!

BTW, I LOVED this! I like the blue at the bottom, brings out the print and liked that it was a bit shorter. I don't care for short things but this looked perfect for a toddler!

DS found last night in his drawer a pair of shorts I had made him from Mickey fabric. I made them when he was 6 months old, simple short pattern, no pockets, no drawstrings, nothing, just elastic waist! When he was little he would wear them all the time and we got so many compliments. He actually wore them last night to bed, though a bit short, but outfits can be done that way pretty simple for a boy! In fact I think I'll make him some more after seeing how excited he was! You can take a white t, cut a square of fabric and sew on shirt and looks cute.
