Does anyone have the link to the Cinderella hair clippies? I have the link for the Minnie and Tinkerbell but don't have the others... thanks..
They look great! What kind of glue did you use?
If you're feeling too pressed for time, maybe you could add a ruffle to a pair of jeans. Making pants is usually pretty fast once you get them cut out. So, it might not take much longer to make the pants than to add a ruffle to a read-made pair. It's up to you what you think you have time for. Just remember that if she doesn't have a pair of pants that coordinate with her top, she's not going to care! Besides, she'd look beautiful in a potato sack!Hi all,
I still have to make Lily some pants to match her birthday top. I have tried for a week to get them made and they are still only cut out. The party is tomorrow. Do you think I should try to make the pants or just embellish some? I am looking for options.
This week is crazy at work. 3 night functions and I am changing jobs next week so I am training the new girl on top of trying to pack, plan 3 LARGE functions and get Lily's birthday party stuff together. I have NO time for sewing. Ok - VENT over. Sorry for that little detour, Back to my question. Suggestions? Please!
Lorna
First of allHi,
I am a long time lurker to this thread, the creations on this board are AMAZING!
I'm not a seamstress, although I do own a sewing maching. I was wondering if someone could tell me how you do this and how do you put the letters on the jeans? Do you need a special sewing machine?![]()
Thanks

This is called applique. There are probably links in the bookmarks, but here is the cliffnotes version.
1. Decide on your fabric pattern, and what shape you want your applique to be. In this case, the shape of Mickey's head.
2. On the back of your fabric that is going to be the Mickey head, iron a piece of Heat 'n Bond Lite. It is important to use this brand because others may gunk up your machine when you sew. Follow the directions closely on the the package.
3. Before you pull the paper backing off of the back, trace the shape that you want the fabric to be. Again, in this case, it is the shape of Mickey's head. You CAN also trace the shape before you iron it on to the fabric. Either way works. Cut out the shape.
4. Pull off the paper backing from the Heat N Bond Lite. Iron the shape on to the garment, following instructions from the Heat N Bond Lite package.
5. Turn the garment to the wrong side and iron on a piece of iron on, tear away stabilizer. I use the sulky brand that comes in a roll. Follow the directions on the package.
SO, now you have a "sandwich" of - from top of the garment down (like you're looking at the garment from the front) Mickey head shaped fabric that has been bonded to shirt with Heat N Bond Lite in between fabric and shirt, shirt, iron on stabilizer.
NOW, using a zig zag stitch, and preferably an applique foot (I think it may also be called an embroidery foot), stitch around the shape. I use a stitch length of about .3 (so that the stitches are close together), and about a width of 3 (sometimes wider if the area is larger, and needs a wider stitch).
After you've stitched the design, pull the stabilizer off the back of the garment.
Enjoy!
Look what I learned how to do today!

I made this (all by myself!!! big girl!!) yesterday...try to imagine the little munchkin w/a super cute bow in her (fuzz) hair, white tights, and black maryjanes....would've tried tonight, but, she was heading to bed!!!
I think I lost my sock monkey quote somewhere! Yes, Heather and I both have a strange fear of sock monkeys!Yup, still scary even with a Cinderella dress on!![]()
Just so you don't think I'm totally slacking off, here's what I've done with my new machine so far! It's an applique on Tessa's Cinderella dress:

I haven't had much time to sew with Sawyer getting into EVERYTHING, but I did this yesterday during his nap. I LOVE my new machine!! It's so much easier to applique on it, plus it beeps!![]()
Give it a try, Heather just started in July! She is truly truly talented!!!! I have yet to even attempt an applique though!AMAZING! I hope to get to this level....someday....![]()
I'm glad I'm not the only one! I am so jealous of Teresa and Heather, who seem to remember not only the posters but the names of all the kids, too. Everyone should be required to repeat their name and their kids's name when they post (if they want to). That would help me a lot!
Hey, I love your princess castle for the top bunk. I should have thought of that for my son's bunk bed. We got it when he was three and he was finally allowed to go up there last year!
Well, I started this morning with a great long reply and now just getting back to the computer! Everything is so cute that has been posted!
On a happy note we are going to Disneyland in May! I have never been there and everyone is quite excited. Dallas is more excited about legoland and upset because he heard us talking about going to DW this week for a couple of days, but no one felt good (and we would have missed the snow) so didn't go. But he is insisting we hit DW first!
Any ideas for customs? I thought I was done making them for him, but this can be the last hurrah!
They are so cute!Hi everyone,

Okay ladies that are gymbofriends, I registered today. I won't say that I am addicted to gymboree but I do like the clothes. We have a quite a few things but my rule is to only buy when it is on sale -- never regular priced! I have been in tears this week b/c I ruined two of Parker's best outfits by accidentally washing a new red sweater with them. Let's just say that her Bon Voyage blue/white striped shirt is now pink/blue stripes and her Glamour Kitty black/cream turtleneck top is black/pink. I have found replacements on Voldemort and am trying to win. Wish me luck!
I wanted to share my Metro Atlanta Snow pictures! They are saying we may get more tomorrow!I hope so. I am originally from Illinois so I really like snow. I just hated driving in it. I love to see it here.
This is the first time my DS has ever seen snow. He wore his "safety goggles" because he said the snow was getting in his eyes.

I started this reply several hours ago, and then got distracted, so I'm sure someone else has answered by now, but, they are in the bookmarks, under hair things. Are there directions somewhere on how to make the really cute hair bows I see with all the outfits? I would love to make some of these for my goddaughter. I'm no sewer, but I think I might be able to handle hair bows! I have a boy, so I don't get to do all the ruffly girly stuff, so I just love to look at all the cute girl stuff here! Thanks!
Great job Heather! They look wonderful!! Mom was pretty excited about them when I talked to her on the phone this afternoon too!I made some clippies last night. Tessa was fascinated with the process and practically sat on top of me while I tried to do it. The Little Mermaid one looks a little wonky. I didn't have the right colors of ribbon and I used too wide a ribbon to cover the clippie. Plus, it was my first attempt. I really like how the Cinderella one turned out. Tessa is just thrilled with both of them!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that keeps happening to!I swear this post was NOT there when I posted the last few times. How weird is that?!
Hi everyone! I haven't been on here in forever, but I just spent a few minutes looking and there is some terrific stuff!
My youngest daughter turned 6 Wednesday and we are having her party Saturday and hopefully after that I'll get some time to sew!
We may be taking my nieces (21 and 24) to Disney with us on a girls trip and I already told them that each of us will have a Minnie Dot outfit to wear to the magic Kingdom. I think that they thought I was kidding. Won't they be surprised!
I have a few new things done, but my computer is running slower than cold syrup so I don't think that I can get them posted. Hopefully we will get that all worked out soon and I can join back in!

Okay, here are the iron-ons for our trip at least:
I made sweatshirts/pants for the 3 oldest. I used Amy Mickey's basic mickey head shape and used Word and Photoshop to make up my own stuff inside (names, the 4 parks, etc.) It took more time than I had to spend! But they are cute and at a total cost of under $10, not too bad. Not too happy with my Magic Kingdom logo, but no time to worry about it.

I did the same thing with these--copied some of Amy's with different names in them and erased the names and put my own in.

These I had Amy do the whole thing for me. Sorry the picture is so bad. The kids LOVE these! (Spongie, I was putting my Christmas cards away the other day and realized your photo is with the whole family in the Jedi shirts. Loved it!)

I was at Wal-Mart the other day and saw these "insert your own artwork" sippy cups on clearance, so I bought a couple and printed off some more of Amy's designs and put them in. Both cups say "Lily" and "Walt Disney World 2008"

Hey SUGARBEE!! Did you move your pictures around in your Photobucket account????? Not that these aren't GREAT pictures, but they don't look like the outfits you first showed us!

You SHOULD be proud!!!!! Congratulations to your daugher!!!!!I'm so proud of my little angel. She got an A-B Honor Roll award today. She has had all A's and B's for the first three six week periods at school. Here are some pics.

The Snickers is her prize. The jacket she is wearing is a custom. So kind of on topic. I made it out of a sweat shirt. She has pants that match also.
.
That is really cute!! I want to try a patchwork skirt one of these days! It's not a dress, but a few more rows of patchwork would make it one.

WHAT THE?? How did I do that? YIKES!!! I have NO idea how that happened! How can I fix it? HELP!!!
