i need a disney trip! i am so blah and tired of this cold weather and not being able to do anything , but sadly we can't afford one now we are HOPING to buy AP in feb or march ..

well i am off to finish up some xmas outfits( they were given out and measured so now to finish button holes, ect.) for my niece and lil' miss Norah(utahmama's lil )

Okay, back from Joann's but $85 poorer

I found some cute fabric that reminds me of the friends around the world that Hancock's had last year. This was a light blue background with the kids and flags and a little saying on it. Of course I had to buy it even though it wasn't on my list of things to get!

Now off to wash and get sewing!

it took so long to find a pattern that was close. there was an edwardian afternoon tea party dress that we had to modify, but it worked out great for the dress. it took days of my friend working on this non-stop, but she loves that we didn't see anyone else walking around in her costume. sorry this is so big, i haven't figured out how to make it smaller. you can barely see the ruffles on her shirt, but it person it was great. i can't even image how many people found her her red bows from the skirt. when we got back to the room that night, only 2 were still on the dress.

We were over at Magic Kingdom today too - and it was pretty quiet - not quite a ghost town but quiet (the line for princesses was only a 15 - 20 minute wait!!!) We got stuck around the monsoon/hail storm but we just ended up hiding out in different places till it stopped - here's a shot of main street in the rain...

Someone sent me a funny video of the characters goofing around. I posted the link to the video, but after going back and watching it, I decided that it was a little "adult" and shouldn't be posted here. They were just bumping into each other in an "ahem" funny way, in costume. I hear french voices, so it's obviously a EURO Disney thing...LOL If anyone wants the link, just PM me.

HELP!!! I am in the middle of making a dress and my sewing machine stopped working. I was sewing along when the needle got caught up in the bobbin thread and wouldn't move up or down. I had to cut the thread to get the fabric out. Now, the needle won't catch the bobbin thread. I even made a handy-dandy video of it for you all to watch on youtube. It even has 2 messages from Tessa in it. Please watch it and tell me if I'm doing something wrong!!!

I got the white with red dots I used in this jumper at a local quilt shop. I loved it so much I went back and bought more. On the selvege the first and most helpful word is cut off but the rest of it says "--Fabrics presents Bloom by Laurie Bird style #25869" I love the size of the dots!

Anyway, is the little black thing the bobbin sits in secure? If it isn't locked inplace completely, I have problems with the thread catching the bobbin thread on mine.

How cute is Tessa! It makes me wish I really could help! Did you take out your bobbin case and put it back in? In my old 90's version Singer the bobbin case would pop up and just be a little loose or something and I would have to take it out and put it back in. I hated that thing! I even had to get a new bobbin case on (then of course my machine worked for a few weeks then completely died). Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Good luck Heather!

they were a last min idea LOL now I have till sept to make her some new ones, I was planning on doing more minnie's w/ different colors... and doing more princess stuff SIL has an embroidery machine, they were just basic tank from Old Navy, and I paired them w/ knit shorts from gymbo.

OMG - that was hysterical!!!! Tessa's gonna be a star!!!

I've had that problem with mine in the past, but darn it if I don't know what I did to fix it. One time, my whole bobbin casing in the bottom got off-center, and I had to kinda shove it back into place. Once I just put the cover back on after several "attempts" to get it to pick up that bobbin thread and just started sewing, and wouldn't you know it that the bobbin thread started on it's own.

I don't know, but just keep playing with it, and good luck!!!

I have no advice Heather but Tessa was so cute! I love that you made us a video! My only advice, keep sewing something and maybe it will just catch eventually!

woo hoo! WELCOME! The conversion is complete! Ha ha Utah Mama and Spongie, Teresajoy and Heathersue, you are not the only ones with your BFF on the disboutique thread! We have always been craft buddies and co-enablers and I recently convinced her to dust off that old sewing machine and get going! And I'm proud to say she is a longtime disfreak and former annual pass holder to Disneyworld and Disneyland (no not in the same year ) Glad you are here, you will love my (our) diser "imaginary" real friends!

Teresa, I don't know how I managed to make an outfit and not post pictures I went over to photobucket to grab the picture and there wasn't one and then I realized I never took a photo? She wore it to church one day and everything. That just goes to show you the chaos at my house lately.

Those are THE CUTEST things EVER!!! I wish dd had some more hair- maybe by the time I get around to making them she will have some!! THANKS tj for scouring the net late late at night to find all this great stuff!!!!

No problem! Lydia actually insisted that I attempt the Ariel one today. I have never even made a bow before! I have also discovered that I have no hot glue gun skills! It was not good! But, it was kind of fun!

We leave in less than 2 weeks and I have so much sewing to do!!! Plus, I have training all week this week so will be too busy to do anything! Luckily I was able to sew all weekend. I wish I were as quick as some of you ladies. I swear I spend more time with my seam ripper than my sewing machine. Directional fabrics just do me in every time!!!! I always put them on (ruffles) backwards, etc. and end up having to rip them out.

Anyways, this weekend I finished my dd's Epcot dress, got started on ds's epcot overalls (ran out of red thread so had to stop), finished ds's AK shirt, finished dd's Tigger shorts. My first attempt at shorts. I thought they looked really silly but then added a ruffle on the bottom and they actually are adorable! I'm going to post pics of all when they are all done and I can my models motivated!

I'll say thanks in advance to all of those I have CASE'd.......I really want to CASE the tink dresses that I've seen but I'm afraid I just don't have time.

Joanns is having a GREAT sale! I went yesterday and spent 40 and then back today and spent another 20 (and I only went in for piping) LOL. I CANNOT resist 40% off the Calico wall. AND they have the clearance fabrics 50% off........

I wish I could help you out! I am afraid that you might have thrown that bobbin thingy out of whack. (Sorry for all the technical sewing terms ) I really don't know though. I did that once with my 1987 Singer, and the needle hit the bobbin thingy instead of going where it was suppose to. It cost a lot to fix it. But, hopefully, that isn't the problem at all, and someone will come up with a great easy solution for you!

I would completely start over. Take the bobbin out, blow and brush all around. Rethread the bobbin (make sure the thread is going the right way), leave a long lead, put it back in. Make sure the foot is up. That's all I've got. Tessa sure is cute: help us!
