I need help! Yesterday I made a tiered patchwork twirly skirt for dd2 (I'll post pics in a little bit) and I need a top to go with it. I have some material left over that matches the skirt, but don't have any patterns or any clues what to do!! I'd like a simple top with ties or something that's super easy and fast to put together. Any ideas that you could either post or PM to me would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I really want her to wear this to a birthday party tomorrow, so I'd like to make something today.

:thanks:

What about a handkerchief type top.? I think that is what they are called. The kind that looks like a triangle and ties at the neck and around the back. They are simple to make. If you have enuf material left from that you could even make a handkercheif scarf to match it. Instead of ties try using velcro dots to hold the corners under the nape of her neck. 2 yr olds dont sit still long enuf to tie the head one. LOL They look so cute on little girls. I made one of the hats for my DD in about 5 minutes, not even.

So, I could cut a triangle and attach ribbons to tie around her neck, then ribbons at the sides to tie in the back? And, the point would hang down in front, right? I would love to make a scarf for her, but I don't think she'd leave it in and I've already made a bow for her ponytail. Good idea though!

I didn't finish reading your post and just clicked on the link. I'm making my way down through the pics and ........"what the ___?" "Why is......" , duh, how do you post the wrong pic? kwim?

UMMM how to explain it with out pic...LOL :confused3
Lets see........ Take a triangle, cut off a bit of the top point so it has a flat top(I think you wind up with a trapizoid or some weird named shape like that) Fold down the the top edge a bit to make a sort of tunnel for the ribbon that goes around her neck to go thru. (like a drawstring) IF you dont like the drawstring option then just attach a ribbon to each top corner of the trapazoid(?) Drawstring is easier to measure ..for me anyway.
The bottom 2 corners of the (former) triangle are where your back ties go. Attach one to each side.
Sorry I cant explain better. My DD has a premade top like this and I made her a few to play outside in when it is hot. With no decs or fancy stitching they only take 10 minutes or so to do. The hardest part will be getting it to the right size triangle to begin with.
I am very good at improvising...LOL
Good luck and have fun at the party.

Maybe they are trying to break into show business and are using Ebay as the corner drugstore. (old time stars where discovered in places like that) Tho I think that guy would only do well in black and white monster movies:rotfl:

The dress is cute, the kid is cute, the lady is attractive, the guy*****SHUDDER**** His eyes are going to haunt me for a while.:lmao:

Hehe! I know, me too! Makes me want to email her and ask "Why?"

I took my daughter's waist measurement and doubled it for the width of the skirt, then I measured how long I wanted it and cut my fabric, adding enough for seam allowances on both sides and the top and bottom (add enough for elastic casing.) Then I sewed up the sides and hemmed the bottom. Next, I cut the tulle to the length I wanted (a few inches shorter than the skirt) then I gathered the tulle and sewed it a couple inches from the top of the skirt. I drew a line with sewing chalk for placement. Next, I cut the top fabric a couple inches shorter than the tulle, lined up the raw edges of the top and bottom fabric, folded over for the elastic casing and sewed that, leaving an opening to thread the elastic through, then thread the elastic and sew up the opening. Hope that makes sense.

Thank you! I'm going to try to copy this exact outfit if you don't mind.

Hi, all,
Does anyone know how to attach the bottle caps to the necklace?

Also, does anyone have directions for making a hankerchief skirt? I have an idea but I can't figure out how to do it.

And one more question... doers anyone have a link to bow making directions? I thought there was one on here but I can't find it.

Thanks!

Thanks you for the tips. I can not wait to try the ribbon tee for my little Katie. She will be 2 1/2 for this trip. I can not wait to see how excited she is. She was 8 months on her first trip and had a great time:) How many posts do I have to have before I can post a pic? I have the cutest picture of Katie kissing Mickey on the nose, I would love to share.

Thanks again,
Lacy

Ohhhh! Katie is going to have such a great time. I love seeing Disney through the eyes of my 2yo. We live in Orlando and I spend a small fortune on character meals because she has so much fun. DH thinks she will have just as much fun at McDonalds but I beg to differ. :snooty: If only he knew how much I was spending on the outfits to wear to these character meals. :ssst: He would die!

I know what you mean. Dh would kill me!:rolleyes1

I had to tell him how much I paid for Jojo since he saw my sadness. I told him and then said, "Ya know... in the world of customs that's not *that* bad. It's not as much as I paid for the princess sets."

Then I said, "Honey would you like some ice cream?":rotfl2:

Me too! Someone post the link again, please!!! So we can catch up!! :)

Link was removed because someone here reported me to the mods for posting a link to an auction. Sorry about that, I misunderstood the rules.
