Please forgive me for veering off topic, but I really wanted to share and gush about my awesome DH. He didn't know what to get me for Christmas this year, and told me so. I didn't know what to tell him and figured he'd get me somehting nice. he always does pretty well for holidays.

Yesterday, before he went to work he woke me up, because I had to go to JoAnn and pick up a chair from the Viking store in JoAnn that I had ordered a while ago. When he woke me up, he told me he was giving me my Christmas present early and handed me a small envelope. Inside the envelope was....

A gift card for JoAnn!!

Now, the JoAnn by me is in Liquidation. It is closing January 15 (ish). EVERYTHING is on super clearance sale. He said he checked when he went in and bought the card at that JoAnn that they would honor it in the store if I went back.

So, I go off to JoAnn, and sidle up to the customer service desk to ask them how much is on my gift card (and if I can use it in liquidation). Well, he's right, I can use it....and.....

THERE'S $550 ON THE GIFT CARD!!!! :scared1: I called DH to make sure that hadn't been meant to be $55, and they hadn't charged him wrong. It wasn't....he meant for to be good for $500 in merchandise with the $50 to cover tax!! :faint: He told me to go crazy and stock up because he knew I was stressing about where I was goign to get supplies when they closed, and I could get enough to last me for a long long time with the gift card he gave me! :cool1:

I just about died. Then I went crazy. Then I about killed the ladies at the cutting table by workign them to death (not really, but almost....:rolleyes1 ). Everything in the store was 50-75% off!! I went NUTS!! Then, when my surburban's trunk was FULL, I went home, ran up to my husband (who was home by then) and gave him a huge smooch!!

BEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT EVER. :cloud9:

I jsut wanted to share with people who would understand the magnitude of this gift to me, and how much it means. My folks just sighed and tsked over the phone and yelled at him for encouraging my fabric and trim habit. His folks were confused as to why he would think that was a good gift.

Thank you for letting me gush.

-Angela

That gave me the chills! FABULOUS gift!
Aren't family "funny"? Have you ever tried to explain the DISboards to a non-Disney Freak? Like trying to explaing quantum physics to a preschooler!
I love "the look" family gives when they don't get it...

Your DH gets DH Of The Year for thinking to add tax money too!

Yeah, you should see the look on their faces when I came out of the computer room crying.:confused3 I love my Dis friends.

And YAY Angela!!! How fabulous!! and YES it is so great when they "get it"

My BF came by on her way out of town yesterday to drop off presents for my kids and brought me 2 gifts. She drug me to a Body Shop at home party (which under normal monitary circumstances I would have LOVED to attend) and heard me ask the consultant for a catalog and explain that I wasn't able to order b/c I had just started back to work but there was something that I was interested in and Amy bought it for me and surprised me (she also bought me this cool massager and massage oil so DH can give me a good massage).
Amy and I were friends since we were 12. We lived together for a while in college and we kind of lost touch when I went into the military and she went to law school (clearly the smarter decision) We've just been rekindling our friendship over the past year and I am so thankful for her. She's really been there for me throughout the hardships I've been going through. When I told her that I wished she hadn't bought us (she bought DH a song writing notebook) anything b/c of my financial situation she said that she knew we were "strapped" and would not have bought each other presents and that we were under so much stress and worry that we deserved a little something. Plus she pointed out that I do for my husband above everybody else (except the kids) and I make sure he is taken care of and happy so all she got him was a lousy notebook (:thumbsup2 ) the good presents were for me.

I love her.

I have fleece for a blanket, but I am sewing a satin blanket binding on the edge.

I didn't get any of the sewing done that I wanted to for christmas except Littles snowman twirl top and now I'm finishing her Christmas outfit. I will have to stay up tonight and sew the binding on her blanket.
I didn't get Mac's fleece, he'll be bummed out so maybe I should wait until I have one for each of them???

BTW, here are the pics of the twirl top.

I will post some pictures later!

Very cute Tom!

And I lost the quote, but Steph, love your pictures and your picture of Jacob was the best "Beverly picture" I've seen yet! (And somehow I've seen quite a few :confused3 )

Wendy, I know what you mean about trying to explain the Disboards. My sister kind of gets it, she loves Disney, but it was funny trying to explain it to her DH when I got him to read your Cabelas TR tonight! (I guess a Cabelas Tr on the Disboards does confuse things a bit when you're trying to explain it). DH makes fun of me for having "imaginary friends" but I tell him "you've seen 2 of them with your own eyes!" :rotfl:

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. We had a nice day. The kids were excited about their surprise Disneyworld trip from Santa. DD10 did not seem surprised, I asked her why not and she said "I asked Santa to please please please please please bring a trip to Disneyworld in the letter I wrote him" (She did write a letter to Santa, did not put a stamp on it, and put it in the mailbox unbeknownst to me, to my surprise 2 days later she received a Christmas card in the mail from Santa answering all of her specific questions--such as which reindeer is the oldest) but I digress, the big kids are quite excited, they keep saying, Disneyworld? not Disneyland? We LOVE Disneyland but go every year. The only time we went to Disneyworld the kids were 1 and 3. Little Lily has no clue but will love it I'm sure! I also had a weird middle-of-the-night brainstorm for a super easy 5-minute skirt for an American Girl doll, not sure if it would work for Bitty Baby. I'll make it tomorrow and post photos (if I get my new camera figured out).

My DD got Ivy from American Girl from my parents for Christmas. I made her a carrier so that she can carry her with her when we go to the American Girl store this week. It was super simple, and I think it's pretty cute. I'll post pics and instructions when I get home in a few days. Then I'll need to get started on some clothes for Ivy. The first thing my DD said was "I don't like her boots. They don't match." SO, it looks like we'll need to purchase some new boots for Ivy.

Shannon,

A dear friend of ours (who is from China) also got Ivy for Christmas. I have already been "requested" to make matching outfits for Chinese New Year. And of course once Morgan heard than she NEEDED outfits for her twins LOL.

You are so lucky you have an AG place near you.

Cindee

I think I'm gonna take the easy way out and buy the Ivy Chinese New Year dress. AbbyGrace has a silk dress that we bought in China that looks almost identical. I do have several of the patterns from YCMT that has the matching doll outfit, so I think I'm gonna start there. I don't know who's gonna have more fun with this doll, AbbyGrace or me!

Oh wow new dolls, how exciting. I can't imagine sewing doll clothes, but if I ask nicely I won't have to. My MIL used to make dolls and is well versed in making doll clothes, yay!! Santa brought Lily a Little Mommy Sweet as Me doll (in full princess dress up) for christmas. We had a little elf drop off some unexpected gifts on Christmas eve (already wrapped) and wouldn't ya know... It took SANTA an hour to pick from the thousands of dolls in the doll isles and our secret friend picked the SAME EXACT one.
I explained the nuiances of packaging and delivering so many gifts in such a short time and how there must be a check list type of system that the elves use to be sure that children get all of the right toys and how if an elf failed to check off the doll it would be easy to see how another elf would have seen the missing check mark and wrap and pack another doll.
The good thing is the stroller my MIL bought for the baby converts to a double...so now she has twins!!!:rotfl: :rotfl:
oh...pictures are uploading....hold on

I don't know when I'll have a chance to post this week, I work the rest of the week. so here you go.

That turned out sooo cute! It looks like Lily loves it.

Here are my 4 in the Christmas Pjs I made them. Try getting 4 kids to smile nicely in one photo--it's impossible with mine.

ok, So XMAS Eve we hired a santa to come visit the kids and bring them there gifts. It was the best 15minutes I have ever paid for! And he told them that he spoke to Mickey they are going to DL on THursday! here is a mini cronicle of pics!
This santa was amazing. found my bag of gifts and read my instructions very well!
Here he is when the girls opened the door!

What a wonderful santa and the video is quite good. My husband manned the camera for the first time and I was impressed!
Santa told jokes and told them about mrs. claus and the reindeer and his best friend Frosty!
Lori

Loved seeing all the pictures! How cool to have Santa come visit personally and hand out the presents! What a memory that will be!

Here are a few pictures. Princess Leigh had been playing photographer earlier and changed all my camera settings, so this is the best that I have! Oh well! My fault for not checking!

She loves everything that she got, but Butterscotch is her absolute favorite!
She asked for it last year, but we didn't get it, and it was number one again this year on her list. She screamed with joy when she got up and saw her by the tree!
Now I guess I will need to build a stable to house this huge thing!;)

And to stay on topic on this thread, I did make a custom top for Leigh to wear on Christmas Eve.

I also made some personalized pillows as gifts this year. My niece, Mom, and MIL loved them!

I just really have to remember to plan earlier next year! I made all the pillows and the top in one day, and unfortunately they didn't turn out as "perfect" as I would have hoped! I am working on my "perfectionism problem".
Everyone that received them thought they were great! So I have to remember that one man's perception of "perfect" is not the same as the others!
At least they did know that a lot of love went into making each one! And that is what made them "perfect" in their eyes!

That's more loot than we had under our tree!! I love L's new outfit!! You did such a great job- and that's a LOT of shirring!! Your kids are just gorgeous!!!

Every time I see pictures of your kids, I just think how impossibly good looking they all are!! Are you photoshopping them or something? ;) It's good to see that my nieces and nephew (Trace, not Corey) aren't the only ones in that pose (with the DS)all day!

What a cool thing to do!! They all look so excited!! What a great looking bunch of kids we have on this board!

Butterscotch!! She is the best pony- EVER! Very friendly, but very neat. Hardly any trouble at all. I'm thinking she needs some customs, though. I've been thinking of making some for the Butterscotch at my mom and dad's house. So, how many kids do you have, anyway? I'd say judging from all those presents, you have at least 10! :rotfl: I love the Christmas eve outfit, right down to the shoes! The pillows turned out great. I had all sorts of big plans of making people things for Christmas, but I never actually got around to it!

Awwww Lori this brought tears to my eyes...you can just see that he really is Santa Clause! And the outfits are adorable.....I love your DS's Disney vest! :cutie: How cool! Thanks for sharing! :santa:

Do whatever you need to do to stave off buying a real horse! The owner of the local pony ride company says......"If its a boy, buy him a pony. If its a girl, buy her the Lamborghini....its cheaper!" :rotfl: :rotfl: :lmao: No seriously, I loved growing up with horses. Now if only I had one now! :confused3

Happy day-after-Christmas everyone! Megan woke me up this morning dressed and with her backpack all ready for school. She said, Christmas is over, time to go back to school! It is going to be a long two weeks.

T: Glad you had such a nice Christmas with some gifts for you, too. You deserve it!

Angela: What a great husband! I'm glad you got to stock up before they store closed.

Tom: Butterscotch! I bet Leigh was excited. I love her outfit and definitely want to try those pillows: they turned out very nice!

Lori: How neat that Santa visited the kids personally! The kids look so cute in their matching outfits.

Jahm: Love the DS pictures! We got the wii from Santa so we played it all day long.

Here are my Christmas pictures.

Megan got the swimming baby and was very happy:
