We just celebrated 23 years! Gosh, has it been that long?

As far as photos, we got married at 19, no photographer, just snapshots, and they were iffy at best!

Also, because we were so young, and our "helpers" were inexperienced, we managed to have a candlelight service, without candlelight. And, while we were snapping pictures away with our 110 cameras, the "helpers" were cutting our cake and serving it up!:goodvibes

All in all, the wedding problems didn't affect us at all. We have lasted 23 years, and plan to do another 23, God willing!

here is a photo of our Christmas Tree, it is a very kid friendly tree.

I just love to hear of long lasting marraiges. That is such a rarity this day and age. ( I sound so old lol). We are going on 18 1/2 yrs.

Happy Anniversary Tom!!!! And, I'm sorry to hear about your mom -- prayers for her!

we are all so busy running, but we must remember the true meaning of the season. We celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus. And now onto what I made for the girls. DS age 12 will not let me make him anything :confused3 So it is just for the girls but DS is allowed in the photos.

What a great tree! I bet you kids love it!

SMOCKING IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!

I have the Disney Brother SE270D machine. I'm trying to smock the top of a dress, but the thread keeps tangling and wadding the dress fabric up in the machine! :headache:

I'm using stitch #25 and my thread tension is set on 5. Dh had to leave for work so my machine is just sitting there with the dress tangled up in it! :sad1: He had to fix it for me last night when it happened so I won't be able to get any sewing done today.

Please can anyone with smocking experience help me figure out what I'm doing wrong? I can tell that it is the bobbin thread getting tangled.

I also made the kids some pajamas a few weeks ago. They really loooooved them! I made my nephew a pair of pajama pants too!

The pictures that I had of the front of Parker's pajamas didn't turn out well at all.

Are you smocking or doing embroidery? The reason I ask is b/c I didn't know you could smock on a machine.

Those PJ's are great. I can't wait to get my machine for Christmas. I have three kids, DS8, DS6 and DD2. DS8 probably would wear PJ bottoms so that's good. What would be a simple thing to start me off with to make? Any suggestions?

My machine manual says it is a smocking stitch and it looks like smocking. :confused3

Thanks for posting the pictures. The girls look so cute! That is the sweetest story I have ever heard about the fairy godmother. Be sure and write it down so you won't forget it!

I love this! She will look so pretty for her pictures! Congratulations on your anniversary and very good score. My husband bought me a scrapbooking table one year and I thought it was the most thoughtful gift ever.

This is my first post in this thread and everything is so cute. I am an artsy person with one little problem...I would love to make cute stuff like this BUT we don't have kids and there are no little ones in the family.

I think it is time to consider making friends with people who have small children.:rotfl2:

Aww, I bet you will find lots of new friends with small people for you to sew for here! Welcome!

Oh… DH got a new job in Vegas. We will be moving our brood from Ohio to Las Vegas sometime after the New Year. Any fellow Disboutiquers in that area? We are looking at Summerlin (sp?)

We don't live in Vegas but we usually visit once or twice a year when I can get my parents to come watch the kids. Maybe we can have a meet our next trip?

Beautiful dresses!

Cute pjs! What a great idea for the Christmas picture!

Ok, here's what is going on with me...

Last night the kids had their Christmas play at church. Megan was an angel and Jacob had a solo, singing Away in a Manger. Even though the angel spent much of rehearsal playing with one of the shepherds, she was perfect in the play. Jacob has the sweetest voice it made me cry. But the funniest thing happened while they were taking a cast photo. I wasn't there, but it was reported back to me that the choir stood for the photo, except for Megan, who was making Josephine poses! Everyone thought it was so funny and one of the moms snapped a few pictures and showed me on her digital camera. So I had to try explain why she makes these poses whenever she gets her picture taken, so funny. At least she didn't demand to twirl!

And I can't show you because I don't want Megan to see, but I made my first outfit for the AG doll. It is so cute! It is a jumper so I have to make a peasant blouse to go underneath it. I think I am going to try a white one with a rolled hem in red like Tom made. It is so funny that I am this excited about making doll clothes, because when I was a kid I never even played with dolls! Oh well.

Now the bad news. My car is possessed, like Christine. I was at the gas station buying diet coke and threw it in the passenger side, with my purse and keys. I walked around to the driver side and right when I went to grab the handle, the doors locked. All of them. It has been doing strange things like this (and it likes to sound the panic horn when I have the passenger door open) so I should have known better. I walked home from the gas station and now I need to look around for a neighbor to drive me back. Or else I need to walk back and get it. Stupid car!

I don't know a thing about smocking, but I have the same machine. For me it does that whenever it gets too much lint in the machine. So after I dig the fabric and thread out I take the bobbin cover and the other cover next to it off and use the little brush to clean all in there. I also get out the vacuum and suck around in there. That always seems to fix it. I don't know if that's the problem but it can't hurt to try.

Happy 23rd wedding anniversary Tom!

Iffy pictures are ok! ;) Or, you could just recreate it for us! You could whip up a weddding dress and tux, and Leigh could be your flowergirl!

I had to get the calculator out to see how old you guys are though! My brain isn't working well today! I woke up with a headache, and Brian said, "The barometer must be up. Maybe I'll go fishing." He was right, the barometer was up. (Sorry to bore you all with that, but I thought it was odd that he could tell that by me having a horrible killer headache!)

How funny about Megan doing the Jojo pose!!!!

Sorry, but I'm laughing about your car! My van did that once. Arminda was little. I threw my purse in, hooked Arminda in her seat, shut the door, then I heard CLICK! And, all the doors locked!!! I was in a panic! Luckily, I was at our meeting, and one of the sisters worked for a car dealership, so she somehow knew how to jiggle the back hatch to get it to open. Now, I NEVER throw my purse in before getting myself in! Same thing happened to Heather with Tessa when she was little. Henry had to break the window open though to get her out.

Thanks! :) When dh gets home in a few hours, I'll have him take it apart again and I'll clean in there really well.

Ok so I finally got inspiration for the eye spy stuff to put in the bags. Our house is pretty baby proof so we don't usually keep any teeny tiny things around so here is what I came up with.
DS stuff list:
47b7cc31b3127cceb1f988fd5b4800000025101AZsXLhszbMY

DD stuff list:
47b7cc31b3127cceb1f98b8f9a9300000026101AZsXLhszbMY

The bags:
47b7cc31b3127cceb1f87703ba2d00000026101AZsXLhszbMY
47b7cc31b3127cceb1f877b5ba9b00000026101AZsXLhszbMY
47b7cc31b3127cceb1f877ea3bf400000026101AZsXLhszbMY

I did however save the zippy bags that ds underoos came in so that was what I used to put the stuff in then I made a fleece cover for them. And the little one was from a little deck of cards from wdw. The stickers were from old valentines cards, I made them thicker by sticking them on card stock and laminating them with contact paper. There is ribbon in ds as a filler until I get some more beads.
The kids already love them- Thanks ladies for the Awesome Idea!!!

Wow not too far behind! I am kind of glad it has been slow. I have been busy, plus I have a 3 year old home with me. Man he talks so much! He keeps coming up to me asking me which characters are on his fruit snacks.
:headache: Why on earth does this boy talk so much? I do love  him dearly though

I am working on a bag. But can't get more than 30 minutes at time to do anything. I also have 4 tie blankets to make for Christmas and I need to finish up DD's dress. It needs a zipper and a ruffle.

I love the Christmas tree photos.

Tom, I am sorry about your mom. Your little brown and pink top are really pretty. That new table is great, what a nice gift from your wife.

I love the little eye spy bags. At some point I am going to make at least one.
I am off to DD's school to pick her up and also have a conference with her teacher.
Stephres, sorry about getting locked out of your car. Sounds very frustrating!

Happy Sewing and Happy Holidays to everyone.

hi all! hope you guys don't mind that i can't contribute much(going to my mom's for christmas. I'm gonna make her teach me how to sew then;) ) but i love looking at all your creations! Did go to walmart this weekend to buy material. Sadly, in this small town there is not a Hobby lobby or Joanne's. Closest one is 2hrs away.

Love the christmas trees. The pic of the family looking for trees in the snow? so jealous..in the eighties here..yuck.

love the mrs.potato head dress.

love the i spy bags.

love the little denim dress with all the characters on the skirt. I too think it would look cute covered with fabric with a mickey head on top of that.

toodles!

Did everyone go on vacation? It's so SLOW around here!

I got Lydia's Build a Bear dress cut out. Well, most of it anyway. Then, Brian's brother's wife called. They are having some problems. I talked to her for quite awhile, then my brother in law called, and I talked to him for about three hours! I just hope something I said will help them out. It's really hard, because I love them both and want them to work this out! Anyway, I've been worried about them, and then I've been having some "brain fogs". Where I feel as if I'm just not quite "here". It almost feels like I'm half asleep. Sort of if you take cold medecine, but it just happens to me once in awhile for no discernable reason. Between the two things going on (and the headache) I haven't gotten much done!

Maybe I'm just missing my sister. :sad2:
