Just got home, my Mom is in the hospital, and decided to come to read this thread to destress.

Here is a picture. It also has velco pieces that fit into a pocket that I made on the skirt. The pieces can change the look of Mrs. Potato Head.

Sorry about your mom Tom! I hope she gets well soon. I come here to destress also. Maybe that is why I am here so often!

DD2 is sitting on my lap. She just saw your picture of the mrs potato head outfit and she won't take her eyes off it!

Yes, I got the shirt at Cracker Barrell, last summer on clearance. I just wish I picked up more!

Tom..We'll be praying for your mom...try not to worry too much...
We're all here if you need to vent...or yell...or pass along some of your infinate sewing wisdom...;)

Well I started my new job this week and I haven't really had much of a chance to get onto the DIS. I am going thru withdrawl!!! But I do really like my new job and once I am done training I will be able to get onto the DIS during the day at my computer. I did make a dress this week on a whim for a good friend of mine. They left this morning for WDW. She used to follow this thread way back when but life got in the way and she couldn't keep up with this fast moving thread. So she knows all about the great custom outfits but she ran out of time to make one for her DD. After talking to her on the phone I decided to make her something for her DD, which was a surprise trip for the kids and she said that the dress would just be icing on the cake for her DD. I feel like I did my good deed for the week!
My pics are done loading so here it is...BTW I about had an anxiety attack cutting into my Minnie Dot(I have almost 15 yards of it!!!):scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I have just sort of skimmed the pics from the last week and everyone has had WONDERFUL creations. But let me say this I definitely can't even think of any Valentines Day stuff yet. I am going to be lucky to finish all of my Christmas/Snow Customs!!! But they are all beautiful!

Congrats to SAHM100!!! Wish you a healthy and happy 9 months!

Tom I hope all is well for your mom. I will be praying for you and your family.

Hello?!?! Anyone out there??! Seriously, only 4 posts in the last 3 hours? I hope everyone is having fun sewing, or surviving shopping!! Thanks to everyone who helped with the Abby Cadabby cliip art, I think I found something that might work.

Not that anyone is here to read this...BUT I am joining the upside down pants club! I can't believe that I just cut not 1 but 2 pair of pants out for little and the patterns are upside down. Well, not just..I was cutting at about 2 in the morning 2 nights ago, I only just realized they were upside down. CRAP. the one pair are for an outfit and I have plenty of material left over so I'll recut them. But the other pair were pj pants and they were cut from a remnant piece of flannel I got hella cheap so I saved some money but her kitty cats will be upside down CRAP...I'm an idiot:headache:

Anyway, didn't think anyone else would really appreciate my vent. Thanks ladies.

I'm here ;) Sorry you cut upside down. Just tell her the kittys are looking up at at her :)

Thanks Cindee. I have enough of the coordinating fabric which is for a contrasting band on the bottom of the legs to do the legs and a sleeveless top, but I could just re-cut the pants in the contrasting flower and cut the pants up to make the lower leg bands then have no top. My MIL and I agreed that the whole thing is silly, cause they're pj's...who cares? ....................................um, ME!!!

Just because there's been so little going on here lately & I've been spending my time decorating for Christmas instead of sewing, I thought I'd post my trees. Enjoy or ignore, as you please. :)

This is our main tree in the den. Eventually there will be presents under it. The ornaments are my attemp to be baby proof, so we have paper snowflakes & photos frames made out of plastic projector slides.

The living has no place for a big tree so it gets a little one & since I can put it up higher, I got to use some of my special ornaments.

DD4's tree in her room. Very Barbie, with 1 Disney princess ornament.

DD1's tree in her room. Yes, those ARE Mickey paint chips from Home Depot, how'd you guess?? :rotfl: She's a bit obsessed with Mickey & could think of nothing better (or cheaper) to put on her tree.

2007_12080106.jpg

Finally, (and here you thought it would never end) this is mine & dh's bedroom tree. Yes, it's black, but it looks so good with the blue & it makes me think of Paris (not sure why, must be the color combo).

What a great idea to have a tree in each bedroom. I may CASE that next year.

I decided to jump on the bandwagon, and make some I-Spy bags. The girls have never seen anything like it before, and they helped gather up the hidden items inside. I think the only thing I would do differently, is use something lighter than rice, like plastic beads....
And here is a tree picture. I can't figure out how to take a photo of it with the lights on...so here is the best one, and yes, it really is as tall as it looks.

Very cute! I love the Minnie dot with the yellow and black swirls. See, there was no reason to be scared!

Yay, you joined the club! It is a badge of honor, and Liliana won't care! She will probably prefer them that way so she can see the kitties better!

Those are really cute. I really want to make some.

Megan wore her fancy dress to the Nutcracker today. All the little girls were dressed up in their cutest outfits so I wasn't expecting much, but holy cow! We got tons of compliments. Moms, all the ushers, various passers-by, all stopped Megan and told her how pretty her dress is! Megan was very proud to say her Mommy made it and some people couldn't believe it. I was :cloud9: !

I love the pics of the chrostmas trees...

I have ot get back to sewing.. I spend forever on a stripwork jumper top with marching jeans for 3yo dd.... than the bugger refused to wear the shirt.... she rips it right off and screams... grrrrrr than I used heat and bond to put some matching patches on the pants and they all fell off after I washed them :headache:

I need to get motivated to make my 8yo a hannah montana outfit before xmas... She has no idea she is going to the concert on 12/30

It's just an artistic interpretation! They're SUPPOSED to be that way, right? Like everyone else has said - now she can see them better when she is wearing them!

Love the trees! Great idea for a thread!

I love these bag! I really, really need to make one. My problem is that I can figure out what objects to put inside. I have a tendency to throw those little pieces away, so I can't find any little doo dads to put inside. Any ideas?

Here is what we have been up today. My DD reformed the Grinch :lmao:

This is great! It looks like she must have had a great time!

Ok, so here's my tree!

Thanks everyone for your well wishes. We appreciate them!
Mom is not doing very well, and we are having to put her in a nursing home on Monday. I have to figure out what to do with her apartment and everything in it by the end of the month. Can I just close my eyes and pretend that this is just a dream?

Love the tree pics! You all decorate as beautifully as you create clothing!

Hi! I read this thread quite a bit and love it. I rarely post though since I cannot sew and purchase all of my customs. I want to ask a question, maybe it is a stupid question though. Do any of you get attached to certain outfits and keep them long after your kids outgrow them? I have quite a few that I know I should sell/list on that site but cannot bring myself to part with them. I won't be having anymore children, so saving them seems like a waste. I try and talk myself into listing them to make some extra $ for our May trip to WDW but have yet to do it. Now, I'm telling myself to wait until after the Holidays to list them but after the Christmas holidays it will be some other reason not to list them. I KNOW I should part with them, but can't. Does anyone else struggle with this?
