That is NUTS! You should fight that one. I've never heard of such a thing! I would be SOOOO MAD if someone made my kid go outside in the cold without a coat!OK, I ask this of my closest girl friends (and Tom).
My DD goes to a public school with uniforms. I was told when I enrolled her, that in the classroom they can ONLY wear uniform pieces. Outside (recess) they could wear regular coats. "Uniform" jackets are available for order from and outside vendor. I did not order a $60.00 coat from the vendor as I understood she could wear her regular coat for recess. She has been wearing a fleece jacket to school on the few chilly days we have had and nothing was said.
Today the temps were in the 50-60's. I sent DD to school in her short sleeve uniform polo, uniform sweater, and her fleece jacket. She came home and told me she did not wear either the jacket or sweater to recess. I asked her why. She told me the principal had made an announcement yesterday that if the children went outside without the Uniform coats they would be sent to the principals office! Soooo I called the school. I spoke with the secretary, who had to put me on hold, because she was not sure of the policy! It seems the school "rule" is a child can wear a regular jacket to school. But they must take it off in the classroom (which I completely understand), but if the class goes out for recess-the child is not allowed to wear their coat if it is not from the vendor(Even if I ordered a coat now, it would not be here for several weeks). Am I the only one who find this unreasonable? When I worked in the school district we encouraged the children to wear a coat.![]()
I would think that the school would want the children in school and not home sick from not wearing a coat!

You and me both sister. Mac MUST get up by 7:00 am EVERY day no matter what his bed time was and his sister stays up until 2am every night, between the 2 I am EXHAUSTED
We have a place like this it's my MIL's. When my DH (then 23) finally moved out of her house we were having dinner after having moved his stuff to my apartment.. His mother BURST into tears. My FIL said "Ro, it's okay, he'll come home" (mind you we live all of 15 minutes away to this very day-though thankfully not in the same rat trap!!) she said "ask him" he said "ask him what?" she said "KEN!!! ask him" My FIL then, looking exasperated, says B- tell your mother that you will come home to make christmas cookies w/ her." I almost fell out of my chair. So 10 years later we go EVERY year to my MIL's for a marathon cookie baking session. She mixes the dough and we scoop, plop, mold, spritz or whatever else the cookies need done to them. My FIL is chief operator in charge of the Oven temp and time. B is solely responsible for the choosing what color dough goes w/ what spritz cookie shape and the last 2 years we've made mini bread loaves for christmas favors and gifts for neighbors. I sort all of the dry ingredients into ziplock bags according to bread type (Last year we made 5 different ones) this is on top of the 6 dozen chocolate chip cookies (3 w/ nuts 3 without) a million spritz cookies, tassies, and thumbprints
It is an exhausting and trying day but it's our Christmas tradition.
I have a cold and need to go home to rest. I will post this weekend hopefully w/ Little's completed christmas outfit. I don't have enough of the stocking /christmas tree fabric and our Joanns doesn't have it. Luckily I had to go to a further one for the princess leia flannel anyway. OOH speaking of flannel. I found a 20x42 remnant of Ariel flannel for 1.94 SCORE!! Perfect for a pair of Little PJ pants.
...t.
Lyddy and Lily could have their own little late night party! Lyddy is often up that late. Arminda gets up at 7 too, so I understand!
