Happy Birthday, Little Man!!

th_IMG_2580.jpg
no way he does not like it at all ;) what a cutie and Happy Birthday to your lil man:goodvibes

Good job! I'm glad you like your serger. I've had one for almost 16 years now, my mom gave me one as a Christmas gift the year I was pregnant with Marissa so I could sew her nursery with it. I've said ever since I don't know how I could keep house without it. And threading is still a pain, even when you have it all figured out. I'm lazy, I'll put off starting a new project just because I need to change thread colors, lol.

I'm a couple of pages behind, so sorry if someone shared this already. My MIL snips the threads (before they enter the serger, close by the cones of thread) and ties on the new color. Then runs the serger to use up the last of the old color. This is a quick painless way to change color.

TINKERBELLEMOM, your gingerbread men are adorable. I wish I could do something like that. (Maybe someday.)

HEATHER, you got me all misty-eyed, too. What a great gift/memento of your grandfather! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

Congrats to all who got great deals on the cricut machine. I have no idea what it is really, but I saw it in all the papers and thought it must be cool. ;) Not enough to venture out, of course. I am *so* glad I have an excuse not to go out with DH anymore. He loves the hunt of the "deal." I do not.

TANYAANDALLIE, I *love* that Tigger Fabric you got. I wish we had a Hancocks around here. Our closest is about 2-1/2 hours away. :(

I had been feeling guilty about making several things for our upcoming trip for DD, but nothing for DS. He really wants a camp shirt, but that's still outside my skill level (especially at this point in time -- we leave in a week!) So, I decided to try my hand at an applique. I've never done one before. I made this for DS to wear to Mickey's Christmas Party. As you can see, he wasn't into modeling "nicely." This is him trying to give *himself* bunny ears in the picture. LOL!

My machine doesn't have a satin stitch option, so I had to use the buttonhole stitch. It's not as nice and smooth as I'd like it to be, but I'm pretty happy considering it's my first try at an applique. :)

Hope everyone had a happy thanksgiving and a good shopping day!

Went to Hacocks for the 50% off sale today. I really wanted to stock up for my Disney trip but I ended up finding some other things!!

IMG_1550.jpg

I LOVE these. Going to make a stripwork jumper out of them.
IMG_1552.jpg

Close up of tigger. I've been looking at this fabric for a while. I am not sure what to do with it yet. Any one have suggestions? We have breakfast at CP and I want to make something for dd (4) and something for ds (2.5). What do you think? I'm thinking overalls for ds but I"m not sure what for dd. I looked at a bunch of other fabrics that might coordinate for a stripwork skirt but I'm just not sure.

OMG!!! I love the Tigger one...too cute. I have never seen that one before...

:grouphug: to everyone who commented on my emotional day. You are all so great! I didn't mention how old I'll be- 33 tomorrow.

Happy Birthday, 2cutekidz's son (sorry I can't remember his name)!

You should be happy, that's a great applique!! What a cute idea! You have a handsome little guy, too!

Well it's almost your birthday, but I don't know if I'll get to a computer until later at Brandons gig so...

party: :bday: :jumping1: :dance3:

Happy Birthday HeatherSue!!!

Hey Hey Hey now, let's not age me ok? ;) And the correct Chinese term for grandma is Nai Nai :rolleyes1

I have to shop!

Cindee (who according to Morgan is only 24) :lmao:

Ok Nai Nai Cindee! So young to be a grandma!

:rotfl2:
What's the reason I started sewing and became addicted to this thread?
UTAH!
She's a BAD influence!
Run fast!
I don't wear makeup either, but I think about buying it all the time cuz of her! !

This place is dangerous for me!

I am back from shopping! Does it count as Christmas shopping if you spend more at the fabric store than anywhere else?:lmao:

Shopped online at Walmart-did NOT want to go into that store!
Went to the Mall,Target :scared1: and Joann's.

Gotta love flannel at .99 a yard!

I think I may stay home and sew-it is SCARY out there!

Cindee

We went out around 8:30 this morning, hit Meijer (it was DEAD in there!), JCPenney (CROWDED!) and Mennards (pretty slow). It was most exciting, I got pillows, dish towels, a mini food chopper, 2 area rugs, and Mom got the girls two cute baby dolls. Oh yeah, we also went to the Dollar Tree. Then, I ate pizza with my all time favorite Diser! And, we made our neice look at the Photobucket account and pick out some outfits that she liked for our May trip.

I LOVE Bare Minerals! It's amazing stuff! And if you don't wear makeup, this is the perfect makeup for you! It never feels like you have it on, you just look great! you really should give it a try!

Please stop telling me these things! I really want to try it now!!!!

That's my boy!!! I just love him!! What'd he get for his aunt Heather!?

A big ole hug and kiss. Or, maybe just a "hey".

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:Just remember, Teresa, OWNING the makeup does not count. You'd actually have to apply it!! I was tempted also and then remembered that I would never actually put it on!

OHH, you mean it doesn't work if it just sits in my bathroom drawer???? :confused3
I don't know if anyone read my post a few days ago about having a hard time this Thanksgiving. It's our first Thanksgiving without Henry's Grandpa. His name was Stan and he was one of my best friends, as well as my Grandpa. He used to do all the cooking on Thanksgiving and we always went to their house. This year, Henry's Grandma Jo (Stan's widow) and some of her family/friends came to our house. We made it through with no tears, until Jo gave me my birthday present (my birthday is tomorrow, the 24th). First, here's the cake she got me:

11-22-07meandmycake.jpg

I couldn't stop crying. This is Stan's cross that he wore every day of his life, for as long as I knew him. She gave it to ME. I was so overwhelmed with emotion and thanks for such a wonderful gift. She said he would have wanted me to have it and that he loved me SO much. I can hardly type this because I'm crying again.

Here's a picture of Stan, Jo, and Me being silly on Thanksgiving a few years ago (he's wearing the necklace). He was a tough looking old guy (a retired cop), but he was a big 'ol marshmallow:

I just wanted to share this emotional event with all my new friends (and Teresa, of course). I knew you guys would understand.

 Heather I know how much you miss him. What a wonderful thing for Jo to do. He really did love you. Tha was clear to anyone that was around you guys.
I love you Heather!

That is the biggest smile ever! Happy birthday!

That is a good idea! I'll have to try that when I change colors.

Love the Mickey buttons on the applique! It turned out great! I too would love to make a camp shirt for DSs but not so sure about all of those buttons :scared1:

Okay, Little's new thing is to run around the house w/ a dishcloth or any other scrap fabric (some not so scrap:laughing: ) singing "Madame Gaston, his little wife" she sings the whole rest of that part... waving the fabric around and putting it over her head like belle.

She was in here singin a minute ago and I turned around, she stopped and said "don't looking at ME!":rotfl:

and this morning when I got her dressed (in jeans...)she said "look Dadda, I me a princess!"
Boy have I got her trained or what!?!
...t.

Aww, that is so sweet! What a little cutie pie!

Here is the peasant top I made for DD10 yesterday morning. The shirring on the arms wasn't as tight as I wanted, but I couldn't find my elastic thread and used some I found in my mom's old sewing basket. It is at least 20 years old. I also just chopped a few inches off of her hair.

And here are the girls in their (sort of) matching Thanksgiving outfits.

November 24, 1974-

The day my life was forever changed. The day I received the most WONDERFUL gift I could have hoped for. The day I got a little sister and a best friend all wrapped up in a little blankie! What would my life be without you Heather??

When I was unsure and scared and shy, you were there to look at me and assure me that SOMEONE thought I was wonderful! At those times when I thought that the world would come crashing down on me, you were there, to hold my hand, and help me through. I am who I am today, because I had you for a sister.

I love you!

What beautiful girls you have!!! I love the top, it looks great!

And, I just love the way you add, " I also just chopped a few inches off of her hair." All casual, like no big deal! It looks great!

VERY cute!! I have all sorts of that "pumpkinless pumpkin" material because I had planned to incorporate it into Tessa's Cinderella dress. Now I see it would make a pretty peasant top!

Oh my gosh, Teresa! I just went through 2 Kleenex reading this! That is quite possibly the sweetest thing anyone has every said (or typed) to me. Wow, I'm just so touched.  I love you so much! I couldn't ask for a better sister.

My little neighbor is named Jayden. He's a boy though. So sweet that your Jayedyn wants to hang the picture on her wall! You guys must have had so much fun together!

You never know, maybe you and your sister will get closer. Heather and I are 5 1/2 years apart. My girls are pretty close too, which I am thankful for. You are such a sweetie, I can't imagine anyone not getting along with you!

That shirt is awesome. What pattern did you use and did you need to adjust the size?

I couldn't ever get it to work reliably, so I just suck it up and thread it the hard way. I'm acutally on my second serger, and it has little adjustments to the internal parts that make threading easier, but I've still got that mental block leftover from my old machine I guess! Can she do this with the needle threads too, or just the loopers? I always hit a snag on the needles when the knot went through.

TINKERBELLEMOM, your gingerbread men are adorable. I wish I could do something like that. (Maybe someday.)

Thanks! Your tree looks great, the buttonhole stitch made good applique lines. I'm going to borrow that idea, I've got a machine that's new to me, and I couldn't find the satin stitch on it, so I pulled out my Viking (which has a great satin stitch, BTW, Tom, when you go for that test drive!) Smooth stitches just take practice. I love the Mickey button ornaments!
