We love to tie-dye so I gotta know more about this- I read the other posts but a few more questions:
What type of shirts 50/50, 100% cotton & where did you get them??
I was thinking those ones at michaels and joanns would be a less expensive option they are 50/50 I think. Or do you think 100% cotton would be better. When we tie-dyed we bought shirts at jiffy.com and are really so much better then the packs of hanes they sell at stores with comparable prices!!
You Said like 30% bleach and soak for 1/2 hour, ok then straight in the wash Before un-tieing. Did you rinse first then wash or go straight washing with detergent?? Any extra rinse cycles?? I know when we tie-dye there is some extra rinsing.
We did mickey head tie-dye shirts for our trip. This would have been easier I think- the tie dyeing was fun though.

I bought the shirts at WalMart. The girls’ shirts were Faded Glory and had little pockets on the left chest. I took those off. I’ll look at the cotton ratio when I get home. I don’t remember what name the boys’ shirts were.
I didn’t rinse the shirts after soaking. Straight to the wash they went. No extra rinse cycles. After washing, we untied them and then put them in the dryer.


It was really easy. My nieces & nephews range in age from 2 months - 10 years, so we needed something that wasn't very hard.

Thanks ! my hip still hurts, but the drugs are helping i fell down 4 because of somebody's hot wheel cars lined up in a ocd row on the step. but i am thankful because i think this is the kick in the toosh my DH needs to enforce the clean rule......Crossing every part of me that it all works. i am gonna go lay down since mayson is out..

I am sorry..hope you feel better soon! My ds lines up his die cast CARS on the stairs all the time, and I better be careful or I will be next to roll down the stairs!

Anyone knows who makes the most authentic cinderella costume patterns out there? I bought one (by Simplicity) but DH doesn't think that it is authentic...so I am trying to see if I can find another one. One that has a size 5/6 pattern for my dd. This is something that I am going to "attempt" before our next trip. Thanks!

Tomorrow is Norah's pre-school's Teddy Bear Picnic. Well, I happen to have a bunch of the cutest teddy bear picnic "fagrick" (how she pronounces it).

Thanks for all of the well wishes! Unfortunately I just got back from the doctor and it had already gotten worse! When the doc opened the diaper she actually gasped! It was bleeding in three places! I feel soooooooo BAD! I can't believe it got so bad so fast! She gave me three different things to put on it for the next 5 days so I am praying that it heals quickly! Thanks again for all of your hugs and thoughts!

DD5 used to get bad diaper rashes, too. She would bleed and I would feel terrible for her. The doctor told me to use Balmex and it seemed to work the best.

A coworker's DD had a bleeding rash, too. Turns out it was a yeast infection.

Hope she feels better soon!

Joann's also has some new Disney fabric. They have the 2 Buzz Lightyear fabrics, a flannel High School Musical, and a Muppets flannel with Miss Piggy, Kermit and maybe some others on it. I thought of you, UtahMama, when I saw it. Here is the green Buzz. It wasn't on sale so I only bought 15 inches.

HO-kay...this is the EASY dress I done-did last night in less than 2 hours plus this morning's zipper adventure.

It's a tad long but I like it! It looks like she's from a polygamist family (which I hope at least one of you "got")

How pathetic, I'm quoting myself. Someone asked about the fabric of the shirts. The shirts were all 100% cotton. The blue shirts were made by Kid Connection.

My trial shirt was also 100% cotton. It was old. The others were new, never washed. It didn't seem to matter. They all turned out the same.

I know that this has probably been asked before but does anyone here only use a serger for all their sewing? If so, what kind do you use?

If you have a sewing machine and a serger do you use the serger for anything other than finishing the hems?

Okay, I personally use my serger for most of my sewing when I am making something with knit fabrics...like PJs, tee tops...etc. If I am sewing on regular woven fabric I use the serger to finish all exposed seams...including waist seam connecting the bodice to the skirt, arm hole seams where you have a sleeve connected to the bodice, etc. The only seams I don't serge are those that will not be exposed such as the shoulder and side seams in a bodice that is lined. And, of course I do rolled hem edges on things, do the "lettuce" edge on knits, I also run a regular serged edge on a hem to make it easier to hem. My sewing credenza is an "L" set up so that I can use the regular sewing machine and then just swivel around and serge the seam and then swivel back to the next work on the sewing machine...Another gift from Alikat99 though I don't remember if it was a Birthday Present or Christmas... My next sewing center will be one that I can be using my embroidery machine , my regular sewing machine , as well as my serger and swivel from one to the other... My Serger is a 12 year old Kenmore but if it were to totally keel-over I would buy the Brother Serger from Walmart.com. Nana

Thanks so much! I wanted to try to get a pic of them today wearing them. I will try to get my DD4 wearing hers, but my youngest is off to the doctor! She has an extrememly bad case of diaper rash, so all she has done is cry! She is sooo sad! She won't even let me hold her on my hip she is in so much pain! So hopefully she will get some medicine to make her feel better, but I will not torture her by trying to make her model! Ohwell, maybe I can bribe my DD4 into modeling hers later, we'll see! Off to the doctor!

Awwww poor baby. how is she doing? I remember Georgia would get diaper rash super bad because she had to be in double diapers for four months. She has hip dysplasia when she was born. Poor thing.

i am gonna try to finish my DD's Thanksgiving outfit today if my hip stops hurting, i fell down our stairs this morning and landed directly on my left hip but i want to post the picture anyway. mind you that is mostly pinned together so it is not perfect and i have to fix the ruffles on the pants..

Sooo YAY my mail man brought me goodies today. I will have a busy weekend for a few new outfits for our trip! I am not a huge fan of the over loaded fabric and the same ones might I add of Tinker Bell. But I saw the pink and Black ones and HAD to have them... for G of course not me. haha

Oooh yeah. when I rolled up the coins we had a grand total of *drum roll please* $167 in change!!! now all the is gonna buy us what a sweatshirt and a few pairs of mickey ears haha.

Thanks for all your serger advice Nana! My Brother from Wal-Mart arrived today! Now I just have to figure it out I finally figured out how to afford it. I returned a pair of (new, unworn) way too expensive boots and had just enough to buy a serger! I thought, now which do I want more? Ugly comfortable boots, or a serger. (Okay, secretly I was thinking of returning the boots anyway, but DH doesn't need to know that!) Can't wait to figure it out, but first I need to cut some fabric for my fabric swapps. She seems to be feeling a bit better, so hopefully all of that medicine is working at least with the pain! Thanks for asking! My best friends sister had a baby with hip dysplasia, she was so sad in those cast! I can't imagine how bad it must have been. Glad she is all healed up now! I love that Tink fabric, especially the black and white and I am not a big tink fan.

Thank you! I was using Balmex which seems to be the cause of it, she might be allergic! The doctor told me she was glad I came in today, because if I had not it would have turned into a staph infection! Glad I went!
