I wanted to chime in about the Christmas prep too. My DH insists on not talking about Christmas until Thanksgiving is over(and noone is to mention Turkey Day until Halloween is good and over!!!) But I have made it ABUNDANTLY clear that we WILL be decorating the weekend of Thanksgiving and that means tree up and all!! Every year I say this but Christmas is always a slow time for the family biz and we are always stressed at the loss of income (no matter how prepared) and then last year we were actually laid off and he wanted nothing to do w/ Christmas spirit. I will have none of it this year and with a new job looming in the picture I don't know what kind of hours or days I'll be working so Thanksgiving weekend might be the last chance we have to decorate. He said "good thing I never got around to putting the Christmas decorations up" Yeah, way to put icing on your procrastination!!!!:thumbsup2

eeyore3847_LOVE the outfits! They are almost as adorable as your daughter!:) Great job!

Um, you gave it to me at the coffee house I think. We traded (I can't remember what, Minnie dot?).

I think you should move closer to Tampa, like Palm Harbor, don't you think? ;) Then we could go fabric shopping together!

Thank You!!! I knew I must have swapped it when I couldn't find it but I couldnt' think of who w/ for the life of me!!! Yeah, you brought me some animal print and the red w/ small white polkadots. SHEESH, what a maroon!:upsidedow

Well Tampa may be a good possibility too, depending on what's going on for B musically at that time. It's so far from now it's hard to think about.

These are so cute! I think I will make an monogram applique for my DD.

Or maybe one for me? Do you think an adult could wear a shirt like that?

Why not. monogram shirtswere all the rage 2 years ago and I think the applique ones would be super cute matching you DD

She's creative, though she can't sew, but loves getting her boys to match when they go to WDW...I told her I'd help her get some cute customs made up for her youngest 2. I've been telling her about this thread...she's a dis'er, but not here because she doesn't sew, she just enjoys my telling her all the great stuff we can get made for her July trip. Tonight she called me from her Waldemort (she's in NJ) because they had the Minnie dot fabric on sale...she bought me 12 yards! I don't know what I'm going to do with it yet, but I've got enough now to do what ever I want. :)

So, who has Christmas customs planned already?

Well, I have decided to make a layered tulle skirt w/ a corset and peasant top but haven't decided what fabric yet. I like the idea of using blues, white and silver w/ a snowflake theme but then, the traditional red and green keeps tugging at my brain. It will probably depend on what I like best when I get to Joanns. I found this great pattern for knit legg warmers, they're done w/ a light weight yarn so they're thin and have a lace pattern at the top w/satin ribbon running through I thought they would be super cute over some tights w/ a pair of MaryJanes. Of course it depends on whether we get any cold weather too.

Right now I have a few knitting projects to finish for another Dis'er and I have to put together some dresses for a girlfriend whose taking her kids for their first Disney trip this month while her husband is on leave from Iraq. I'm making 2 pillowcase dresses (for her 2YO twins) an a-line top for her 6 YO and a mickey applique'd tee for her 8YO son ( I don't really know if I can do this, but I didn't want him to be left out!) so I have plenty to keep me busy. I have to get my house cleaned tomorrow so that I have time to work on these projects this weekend. I am hoping that the dresses don't take too long. and that I'm able to finish up the knitting while sitting on the couch in the evenings.

:cheer2: Go STEELERS!!:cheer2: or as they say in Pittsburgh Stillers:lmao: (that's how I say it too;) )

Hancock does carry the Open Toe clear embroidery foot. You need the LOW shank type (I have that machine and have purchase that foot and LOVE IT!!! Call first to make sure they have them in stock before you drive all that way first though. Nana

Oh Thank you Thank you for all the information. I am reallly anxious to try this technique, I'm almost done with my custom scrapbooks/autograph books for the girls and am ready to move on to something sewing-wise.

BTW, you're stuff is really awesome, I've loved all of the clothing that has your name attached and everyone speaks so highly of you! Thank you for the help!

GRRR I just lost a forever long post in which I commented on everyones loverly stuff, the addition of a new Tiffany (DisneyBrat-WELCOME!!!) and some other stuff.

OK. I signed up for the fabric swap (boys FQ's) under the assumption that I had some mickey cammo lying around. But I can't seem to find it. Did I send anyone here my cammo mickey fabric?:confused3 I don't need it, I just want to know that I haven't lost my mind and it's not lost somewhere in the chaos of my house. So if I sent you mickey fabric, raise your hand and put my mind at ease.

Oh and I applied for a new job today at a local blood bank. i worked as a phlebotomist when Mac was a baby and work has slowed down considerably. Jobs are hard to come by around here, especially ones that are worth having. The ad went into the paper just yesterday and when I was there at around 1 today they had already had about 7 applicants. So keep your fingers crossed for me.
I am going back to school full time in Jan. and should be graduating w/ by degree in elementary education in about 3 years. DH and I have talked about moving somewhere a bit closer to Tampa or Orlando when I start teaching. But we are leaning towared Orlando. It'd be nice to be closer to the mouse. (but that wasn't really one of the factors- at least not the ones I presented to DH!!;) )

Fingers and toes crossed for ya! :thumbsup2

LOL...we put our tree up the week before Halloween. We figured if Wal-Mart & Home Depot could do it, so can we! LOL

We have a very strict "day after Thanksgiving" rule around here. Although, with Baddog Bob around our house now, I'm not sure how the tree's going to play out this year. He managed to eat at least three Barbie shoes this weekend that we know of. Sigh....and I'm NOT going looking for them.

I collect Radko ornaments and I just love putting them on the three every year. Now the girls are getting old enough to love it too!

HELP HELP:headache: :headache: :scared: :scared:

I am attempting the Stripword Jumper from YCMT.... I am on page 10 and stuck.. AHHHH I am finishing up the bodice and for the life of me don't understand it. I am at the part that says , With the right side together, align the front edges of the front bodice/lining and the side edges of the back bodice/lining.

Ok.. You know how they saw its all greek to me.. well I can speek greek and this is worst lololl

I know a few of you have this pattern.. can you take a peek and try to simplify it. I thought I had it and sewed it and it wasnt it.. so here I sit them the seam ripper hanging out of my mouth.

I've done a few Christmas things already, and a few more in the works.

Our family tree will go up the week of Thanksgiving (while kids are home from school). I'll do trees in each of my children's rooms (table top trees on top of their dressers). Then there's the dining room table and the mantle. Those two together take as long to do as it takes to put the 9 1/2 foot tree!

You sound like me! I have trees all over the place in my house. But this year thehre will be no tree. :sad2: We are moving across the country the week after Thanksgiving, we'll be in our new home 2 weeks and then be goign to Utah for Christmas! I'm really, really sad I can't set it up this year, but I don;t even think I'll have the boxes all unpacked when we leave for Utah, let alone the Christmas things.

Sure hope people post their trees so I can have some CHristmas though! I LOVE to see everyone's trees!

Ok! anyone want to make some extra cash and make me some of those Minnie outfits with the overalls?

Okay, stop. This is really simple, the wording just gets confusing. You are going to fold the fabric from the bodice front up so the lining is still lying flat and do the same thing w/ the back piece. then position the pieces so that they are right sides together w/ the side seams lined up sou should end up fabric to fabric and lining to lining. then stitch the side seams so that when your finished both the bodice fabric and the lining are stitched front to back but not to each other... Does that make any sense???

Here is a picture of the pettiskirt:
th_pettiskirt.jpg

It has 2 layers of the netting material for the skirt. They also had jus the skirt ones and I believe they were probably the same price.

Do you know what sizes they have?

I want to make DD some peasant tops. I have seen the Just Tutes one but really would prefer to find an actual pattern. YCMT has a few on there, what patterns has anyone tired?
The portrait peasant top

"How to Make a Peasant top"

I also would prefer one that had both long and short sleeves included.

I used the JustTutes one for a long time and loved it. I use the 2nd one above and like it, but HATE :headache: the neckline!!!!! It is much easier to shir it instead of trying to make a casing to thread elastic AND the sleeves are too short, I always have to add about 3 inches to the long sleeves. I've not tried the first one yet.

My inlaws are not coming over for Thanksgivng!

How did you get out of that one?! :thumbsup2

Good luck! :cheer2:

it is simplicity 3743! it is very easy

My favorite pants pattern for dd2!!!

Ok, I failed buttonholes & zippers 101 :headache: My mother decided that my machine is too old and she took the princess bodices to my aunt who has the automatic buttonhole maker! I love my family!!!!

We did get this done without a zipper foot, but my mother had to do it since she has decades more experience than I! This is for dd7 to wear to CRT (her choice, not mine!) These are with my camcorder and not great! The mice are not appliqued, but iron-ons that I printed from clipart. I didn't want to do all the tiny applique work, so I cheated... sue me!!! Dd7 has been sick, so she didn't feel like putting it on for pics, especially since she's tried it on a dozen times for fittings today!!!

CUUUUTE! I love the work dress! Nice touch with the mice!!!!

Hey! Great minds think alike! I went to Hobby Lobby today too! It's not a new one, but I had a few minutes and wanted to see what they had...I thought the same thing, it seemed barren. I did pick up a couple of things but overall I wasn't impressed...Wah.

Okay, for all of you who have the Brother cs6000i..I just bought it about three weeks ago, and am wondering about the clear embroidery foot....what kind do I get? My JoAnne's doesn't carry anything for Brother and I didn't see any at HL or Walmart. Hancocks' I can get to, but it's about a 30 minute drive one way. Not too bad, but if they don't carry them either I don't want to waste my time. I want to start appliqueing my t-shirts and have read that you guys really recommend having a different foot for that. I used to have a New Home for quilting. It worked fine but didn't have a lot of stitches to it...this one is probably smarter than I am, but I'm giving it a shot anyway...

Thanks! Maggi

I don't know if this was answered yet, but you need the low shank foot.
