LOL...we put our tree up the week before Halloween. We figured if Wal-Mart & Home Depot could do it, so can we! LOL

LOL...I'd get sick of looking at it though. I guess its smart, its so much work to get it all done up pretty, you may as well enjoy it as long as you can!

I need to hunt down the gloves and snowpants tonight I guess! ICK ICK ICK!!! :cold::cold::cold: Can we just all move to Florida?

(I just found that cute little cold smiley, and had to use it!)

Morgan is running around in shorts here in Florida. THAT is why I moved from Michigan :rolleyes1.

I think it is actually going to be in the 50's tomorrow morning (for 15 minutes at 2 am:lmao: )

On a sadder note. Morgan just found out the hard why why I tell her not to lean back in her chair. She fell backwards and bit her tongue pretty bad. She will be on soft foods for a few days:sad2:

Where did you find these adorable Tink jeans? At Disney store? Or did you hand paint them? I have a T-Shirt with that same Tink on it "The Many Expressions of Tink" & I've loved to to death! My boys love me in it. I'm adding this to the bazillion other things to CASE for my niece!

I got the jeans from ebay. They are from the Disney store a year or 2 ago. I made the set for my neice. The sparkles (pixiedust) were coming off the leg so I added rhinestones...it turned out too cute! Just keep searching Tink jeans, there is usually a pair or two up for auction.

Normally we put up the big tree the first Sat in December. I think we are going to do it Black Friday. My inlaws are not coming over for Thanksgivng!    I can set up all the boxes of decorations in a staging area. We do one big tree and tons of table top trees. We also were given my Mom's childhood trains last year. It will be fun to set them up too!

So, who has Christmas customs planned already?

Lori- I love yours. They look great. Where did you get your red snowman fabric?

Here's the plan, if you see snow falling, blow it towards Texas!
:cold:

AAACCCKKKK! Noooooo, not here!!!:rotfl:

I have a similar brother from Costco. None of the "chain" stores had the embroidery foot so I called around to some of the sewing stores that are smaller/privately owned and found one that had the applique/embroidery clear foot. I told them what kind of machine I had (it actually has to do with the shank, not the brand - if they know their stuff they can tell you or you can bring in a foot for them to see - also, I think you can find a picture somewhere on here that tells y ou the difference) and they said they had one that would work. The one I bought was a snap on kind and it was
$9.95. I had tried to applique before without one and it was okay, but this made it so much easier! Good luck finding one, just call around to your local sewing/vacuum stores.

Thank you so much, I remember it having to do with the shank, but when I read that post I didn't have the machine. Now, how many thousands of pages later I have no clue where it is....we have a sewing store about five minutes from my house, I would never have even thought of calling there. Thanks for saving me probably a day's worth of chasing!!!

I remember leaning back in my chair at a Big Boy in Alma (MI) when I was about three. I distinctly remember my mom telling me to cut it out or I was going to fall. Ha, three year olds know best right? Bam! Fell over backwards, hit my head on the floor and that was the end of the meal. I don't remember much about being three, but I sure remember that!! Sorry to hear she learned that hard lesson too!

And here today? 80 degrees. That's why I moved from Michigan.:rotfl2:

Hi Everyone!!

All the outfits continue to amaze me!! Sooooo cute!! Cutie kids too!!!

So, I am working on embroidering my turkey applique, and a keep running across a few problems -

the thread breaks - what do you set your tension at?
i get "blobs" of embroidery every now and then? what makes this happen??

do you need a stabilizer to go behind sweatshirt material?

Now here is a question, My 32 year old SIL arrives tomorrow and stays till the day after Thanksgiving. She has Down Syndrome, and is very high functioning. Im thinking with me doing all this sewing, she might want to try some with me - i was thinking maybe pajama pants or something for us to try? is there any free patterns for that online? she is very chubby and short - lol - so would need like size XXL - any ideas?????? thanks so much!!!

oh, by the way - i've discovered the Goodwill store!! They were having a 50% of denim today!!!! i got several pairs of kids jeans with the tags still on them - they were $1.50!!!! got some GAP overalls for a toddler and then a pair of shorts for me, and one for my mom to just have fun decopauging for our new years eve trip - why not - they were only $2.25!!!! some of the things there were - GROSS!!! but, theses were in new or slightly used condition!!!!:wizard:

Hi Cindee...please tell her we hope she feels better...poor thing...

Hey! Great minds think alike! I went to Hobby Lobby today too! It's not a new one, but I had a few minutes and wanted to see what they had...I thought the same thing, it seemed barren. I did pick up a couple of things but overall I wasn't impressed...Wah.

Okay, for all of you who have the Brother cs6000i..I just bought it about three weeks ago, and am wondering about the clear embroidery foot....what kind do I get? My JoAnne's doesn't carry anything for Brother and I didn't see any at HL or Walmart. Hancocks' I can get to, but it's about a 30 minute drive one way. Not too bad, but if they don't carry them either I don't want to waste my time. I want to start appliqueing my t-shirts and have read that you guys really recommend having a different foot for that. I used to have a New Home for quilting. It worked fine but didn't have a lot of stitches to it...this one is probably smarter than I am, but I'm giving it a shot anyway...

Thanks! Maggi
Hancock does carry the Open Toe clear embroidery foot. You need the LOW shank type (I have that machine and have purchase that foot and LOVE IT!!! Call first to make sure they have them in stock before you drive all that way first though. Nana

Hi Cindee...please tell her we hope she feels better...poor thing...

Thank you, I will tell her. She came in a few minutes ago and asked if she could go to bed. I think she muct be the ONLY kid in the world that does that :). We might go to Seaworld for a couple hours on Saturday. I think Jack Hanna is going to be there. Are you Seaworlded out yet? LOL

the thread breaks - what do you set your tension at?

I have my needle thread slightly loose so more of it pulls to the back. On my machine about 4.0 - 4.5 works well. Is it only one spool of thread that breaks? If so, it might be defective or just old. If the thread breaks on other spools, too, you might want to change your needle.

i get "blobs" of embroidery every now and then? what makes this happen??

I've found two things that cause this on my machine:
1) something messed up with my threading of the needle thread
2) lint in the bobbin area

If rethreading doesn't help, I stop what I'm doing and clean the bobbin area. I try to remember to do that before I start an applique project but forget sometimes.

do you need a stabilizer to go behind sweatshirt material?

I did a very quick appliqued sweatshirt for myself on Halloween morning. I didn't use stabilizer thinking the design was simple enough I wouldn't need it.... plus I'm cheap and I would have ended up using a large piece of stabilizer for a shirt I'll wear once or twice a year. I should have, though, because the applique edges were wavy even though I had my stitches spaced out more than I normally do on appliques. I did stabilize when I stitched around the eyes and mouth (I did a ghost) and that looked much better.

Very cute! Is that the pattern from YCMT for the pants? I LOVE that pattern!

I've done a few Christmas things already, and a few more in the works.

Our family tree will go up the week of Thanksgiving (while kids are home from school). I'll do trees in each of my children's rooms (table top trees on top of their dressers). Then there's the dining room table and the mantle. Those two together take as long to do as it takes to put the 9 1/2 foot tree!

These are so cute! I think I will make an monogram applique for my DD.

Or maybe one for me? Do you think an adult could wear a shirt like that?

GRRR I just lost a forever long post in which I commented on everyones loverly stuff, the addition of a new Tiffany (DisneyBrat-WELCOME!!!) and some other stuff.

OK. I signed up for the fabric swap (boys FQ's) under the assumption that I had some mickey cammo lying around. But I can't seem to find it. Did I send anyone here my cammo mickey fabric?:confused3 I don't need it, I just want to know that I haven't lost my mind and it's not lost somewhere in the chaos of my house. So if I sent you mickey fabric, raise your hand and put my mind at ease.

Oh and I applied for a new job today at a local blood bank. i worked as a phlebotomist when Mac was a baby and work has slowed down considerably. Jobs are hard to come by around here, especially ones that are worth having. The ad went into the paper just yesterday and when I was there at around 1 today they had already had about 7 applicants. So keep your fingers crossed for me.
I am going back to school full time in Jan. and should be graduating w/ by degree in elementary education in about 3 years. DH and I have talked about moving somewhere a bit closer to Tampa or Orlando when I start teaching. But we are leaning towared Orlando. It'd be nice to be closer to the mouse. (but that wasn't really one of the factors- at least not the ones I presented to DH!!;) )

;) ...t.

He's so cute! You had me cracking up at the thought of him in overalls though! :rotfl:

Yes, an eight year old boy in overalls would be sight, wouldn't it? No, I don't want him to get beat up at school!

Today it was 60 when we got up this morning and Scrappy was shivering in the wet grass. I am getting him a sweater since T has not taught me how to knit yet.

So cute! Those look so comfy as well as being cute as a button!

Um, you gave it to me at the coffee house I think. We traded (I can't remember what, Minnie dot?).

I think you should move closer to Tampa, like Palm Harbor, don't you think? ;) Then we could go fabric shopping together!

So, who has Christmas customs planned already?

I do, I bought most of the fabric today for one of Rebecca's dresses/outfits. I try to make enough for her to wear one new each week before the holiday, so then she has one for every day the last week. I figure if I'm going to put the work into a holiday dress, she may as well get some wear out of it/them! If I'm lucky she'll be able to wear them again next year with an added ruffle or leggins.
