Okay I just finished one of my digital scrapbook pages and just had to share it here with you guys!

This one? I don't know who posted it, maybe they'll wander by soon. The pumpkin and turkey were interchangable, with velcro (I think)

Is it ok if I CASE this wonderful idea a bit??? I just love it!!! How did I miss it the first time??:confused3

I used a Pilgrim pattern from McCalls. I shortened, didn't put cuff's on it. The front has a V with a seam, I just rounded it and put it on the fold. Has a head scarf and apron. I wish now, I had thought ahead and appliqued Jaq and Gus on it. I thought it was too full, but she loves the "twirl". It was a big hit in Disney with the Cast Members.

:thanks: :thanks: :thanks: I looked at one of those and wasn't sure if it would work or not!!! I will hopefully have my mom with me today so she can help me!!!!

I haven't heard that since she was a baby! No one ever thinks she looks like me anymore. Every once in a while I hear it about Drew but I really don't see any resemblence with either! I'm horrible at that though. I could probably meet identical twins and not even know they looked alike.

It's funny, I can't tell it with any of mine but can instantly tell with others. Both of your girls are gorgeous!

Does anyone have any ideas what I could do to cover the design on the back pocket? I don't want anything too big. I thought about stars, but then decided that was not appropriate to put on my DD's behind.

How about EHS with the red dot fabric? My dd8 is sitting here and loves your jeans, :thumbsup2 .

Too tired to post much, I promise to return to my formerly chatty self ASAP..
But heres a bit of our Epcot Day

Ooooooohhhhhhhhh! I know who to contact when I'm ready to start digital scrapbooking!!! That's super cute!

:rolleyes1 Anyone know of a pattern for those spiral Euro hoodies??? You know the ones with the long hoods that then look all spirally (a new word perhaps???) toward the bottom?

Anyone know what I am talking about???

I just bought a Farbenmix pattern called "Olivia". I've seen lots of these made up, and they seem to have that long "spirally" hoodie look. Here's a link to where I got it. You'll need to scroll down to find it. The part I'm hoping to get that look from is the under dress only.

I know there's a Farbenmix pattern called Olivia that has a long hood that is tied in knots. It's a hoodie dress with a "kangaroo" pocket. The bottom of the dress flares out quite a bit. Often it's made to be worn under a jumper style dress (also in the same pattern). I don't recall seeing any that have spirals but I'd bet it's either a Farbenmix or Ottobre pattern.

Lisa where do you get the magazines you mention? Do you buy them at your fabric store?? Or a book store? I don't think I've seen them at Joann's but Joann's usually has smocking magazines.

That is too cute!:thumbsup2 I haven't decided if we are going to go to HSM on ice yet. We were thinking of doing the ESPN weekend in March, so I've kind of been saying no to everything else just in case.

This is the lion costume I made Cameron...check out the tail. It is cuter in person....tons of ribbon loops

This is fuzzy, but the expression is priceless...he had just woken up after a long train ride and car ride and he wasn't too thrilled with the prospect.....

I think this is the same pattern that I used for my DS skunk costume. I will post my pics later today. Your Lion turned out really cute, I really liked the lion, but I didn't want to do all of that ribbon. I am sure that was mighty time consuming!!! Good job.

Sorry guys! I haven't been following the thread much and when I do I normally skim the pictures! I made the turkey, but now I don't know what the original question was, or if you just needed a picture then thanks 2cutekidz.

It was interchangable with velcro. I made it for a lady who wanted birthday overalls and then came up with this idea. I wasn't fond of the pumpkin, but hey, she liked it! For the turkey it is ribbons attached to felt and I stuffed the felt to make it a little more dimensional. Since she wanted it interchangable I decided to go with felt, oh, cardboard is in the middle of the 2 pieces of felt, 2 make it a bit stiffer and stand up.

I am not extremely fond of felt for washing but I did make our NBC shirts out of it and have washed them about 5 times so far with no issues. If you need more details or anything PM me. I look on this board everyday but had been trying to get my house in order!

Love the photos! I love the way your Minnie outfit turned out. SO CUTE! Figment is so cool! My DD loves that ride.

These patterns a sooooooooo cute!!! Where do you find this stuff?

I saw that dress (the underskirt part mainly) posted on a sewing board (sewingmamas.com). After seeing it many, many times, and also seeing the end result sell for good money, I decided I needed the pattern.

Lisa where do you get the magazines you mention? Do you buy them at your fabric store?? Or a book store? I don't think I've seen them at Joann's but Joann's usually has smocking magazines.

I ordered the Ottobre magazine subscription through http://www.woolythread.com/mags.html. Each magazine has 40+ patterns in it. They have to be traced and seam allowance must be added but they are fairly simple designs that are really cute to embellish. The magazine is from Finland so all measurements are metric but I'm adjusting. LOL The leotard and leggings I made for Zoe's Halloween costume were from the one magazine I have so far plus I made her a Fall dress (just need to add buttons and button holes) so I feel like I've already gotten a great deal and have other patterns I really want to try.

You can find the Farbenmix patterns on :wizard: as well as a few online stores. They are from Denmark so I don't think they're widely available in brick & mortar fabric stores. Again, they're metric measurements and the patterns have to be traced with seam allowance added. However, from what I've heard, once you make one of a pattern, it's very quick to do more. I really want to try the Olivia and Anna patterns to start. At about $10 per pattern, though, I can't get as many as I'd like at a time. ;)

That pattern is so cute and definitely has a lot of potential for being embellished or left simple in design but made with a really cute fabric. I've bought some knit prints to use... once I finally buy the pattern. LOL

So I made my first tiered twirl skirt for my DD for Halloween. I started it a couple of weeks ago and I never really got a chance to put the ruffle on and add the elastic casing and elastic. So time flies by and I end up trying to put the finishing touches on it on "Halloween Eve". I start working on it after getting the kids in bed at 8. Start cutting my ruffle fabric and ruffling(with my ruffler foot) all is going well until I ran out of my ruffle fabric, stabbed my hand with the seam ripper and broke a needle. AGGHH I finally finish the skirt at 1:30am.

So after being up TOO late I don't hear the alarm clock going off because I am exhausted so I wake up 10 minutes before the bus comes. My DD REFUSES to have to be a "car rider"(being dropped off by your parents). So we get her dressed in her nice newly finished twirl skirt and pack her lunch and she makes the bus. Then after she gets off the bus I ask to do a quick twirl for me since I didn't get a chance to see her spin in the morning. My very accident prone 6 year old does half a spin and falls FACE FIRST into the corner of the wall!!!!! She caught her fall with her head. She has this HUGE goose egg on her eyebrow and forehead! This is 2 hours before trick or treating and she WILL be going and wearing the Tooth Fairy Dress from heck!!! I make her lay on the couch until I can get the Dr. to call me back. They give me the head injury check list and my DD iced her head for quite a while but she was able to trick or treat!

Yes my clumsy DD was the first to be injured in her twirl skirt!!!!! I know our motto is there is no such thing as too much twirl, but I think this particular skirt had TOO much twirl!!:lmao: And to top it off, I never did get a picture of her in her skirt!!!

Hope she is feeling better. My girls (especially my 10yr) would have done the same thing. In fact dd(5yr) just hit her head on the fireplace a few minutes ago (she is fine.)

Yes, that's the pattern. There was a monkey and elephant too. Actually I used my hot glue gun and the ribbons were easy compared to the instructions for the hat part...the instructions were incomplete and good thing I know how to sew or I don't know what I would have done. Those costumes manufactured are very expensive. So I was happy to sew one myself. Can't wait to see your skunk!

WOW!!!! That should be this thread's mandatory picture spot ;)
That's really adorable!
Princessfws- What about a red and white pom pom for the back pocket? Cute outfit by the way!

t-beri- Your dd is a sweetheart! Love the Minnie outfit. Your ds is really handsome! Love his hair!

Susan- That lion costume looks familiar! I made that 7 years ago for my 9 year old son. It was tedious but great! I think mine was more orangey like Simba. Love the ribbon! He's a cutie pie! Look at those cheeks (kiss, kiss!!). You did a wonderful job, G'ma

He does have the chubbiest cheeks you ever saw and they are so pink compared to his brown skin! He is so beautiful. God sure made us all in different shades! You should see his thunder thighs...they are like the Michelin man! He is just the happiest 7 mo old baby!

That pattern is so cute, though.

Susan

sorry, Wendy, meant to type Utah Mama....I have Gramma on my brain!
