Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 5

I have a question about patterns...normally a pattern is for multiple size, and since my dd wears a size 5 right now...is there a way to not cut the pattern so I can still use it for the bigger sizes?

I tape printer paper together and trace onto that. Printer paper is something that I have on hand readily at anytime.

Hey, that Buzz looks familiar. ;)

My boys flew to bed in "Lightnin' time tonight!!!:lmao: I think I'm getting the hang of the appliques.:thumbsup2 Look at what y'all inspired in me:scratchin  (couldn't get a real good photo of the total wording on the applique)....

KACHOW Y'all!!!

I've been out of the DISBoutique thread for a while (my machine died and I got so frustrated), but I've been going back through the last few pages and it's so much fun to see all the new outfits and faces. :)

I finally have something to share again (borrowed my mom's machine to make some stuff) so here's what I've made. It's not very fancy -- mine are more on the side of "homemade" versus "custom." :)

I don't quite have the hang of capri pants yet. LOL! Both of these are *supposed* to be capris but they ended up being ankle length. Oops.

For MVMCP:

MVMCP_back.jpg

I've also started playing around with polymer clay. DD decided at the last minute that she wanted to be Buzz Lightyear (DS's old costume) so I decided to "girlify" it with some hairbows. She got lots of attention.
alienbow.jpg

I also made these for our trip:
MVMCP_bow.jpg

I think I might try my hand at a *very* simple applique this weekend because I'm feeling guilty about not making anything for DS. If that doesn't work, I might be heading over to the DISigns board to see if I can find a good iron-on. ;)

Well, I havent done any sewing today, but taking care of a sicky hubby. Sooo he didnt get to go to the father daughter dance with Georgia. But My dad took her instead. She is sooo excited. Georgia looks soooo beautiful , I almost got teary.

HEY! Good to see you posting! I think the capris are adorable! And those bows are so, so cute! Great job!

Hi Everyone,

I volunteered to make Christmas twirl skirts for my mom's granddaughters. They wear a 7 and 8 and are on the slimmer but short side. How long should I make the skirts - would their be any difference in the sizes really????? THanks!!

Kachow! is right! Those are so cute! My girls would even like 'em!

Hey!!!!!! I know you! Your dd is so stinkin' cute and I hope I remember that outfit at MVMCP!

OMG Kell, she is gorgeous! Wait, have I said that before? Well, you know she is! Sorry about your dh, hope he feels better (for your sake ;) )

Hi Everyone,
I volunteered to make Christmas twirl skirts for my mom's granddaughters. They wear a 7 and 8 and are on the slimmer but short side. How long should I make the skirts - would their be any difference in the sizes really????? THanks!!

My girls are 7 & 8 and I make theirs about 15" long, from waist to right below the knee. If they are going to be above the knee, I usually do 11" Hope this helps!

Me and Spongie made these too! Except we made it pillow (no handle) and made a pocket in the back of it to hold the laminated list of things to search for! Easy Peazy Lemon Squeezy!

You can use RICE too! Works just as well as the pellets.

I also have one made in a pop bottle with bird seed in it that is in our car for trips...it's WELL used.

POLY POCKET shoes are a neat findy thing!

This is what I did today! I used rice too! I also found out that it is better to put stuff in there while your 4 year old is NOT watching, "But Mommy, I will be SOOOO sad if you sew up my toy in that bag." I really wanted to put a Polly Pocket shoe in there! I mean really, they never stay on their feet anyways! I had a lot of little novelty buttons, and I put those in there. On the 20 minute drive to my Mom's house (it's a little further to Heather's 20 minutes 5 seconds) all my kids had fun playing with it. Even Corey! I will have to make him one too! I had pink fleece, but I think I would like to make the next one out of some sort of brown, that won't show dirt, cause I know this is not going to stay clean around here for long! I didn't get the little pocket sewn on the back, but I am going to do that with my next one. These are so easy and quick to make! It was a lot of fun!

:rotfl2: I would be in Heaven if I was only a few hours away in the UP. The drive from Colorado takes forever...hahaha...well it seems like forever when you are not a road-type gal. Even though I hate to fly I prefer to get there faster by airplane!! I am definitely going to Michigan this next summer, if not before. My twin sister who lives in Oregon is going with me!!! Yeah!!!

Only an hour away...man you guys really are lucky!!! Colorado is a beautiful state but there's nothing like being close to the ones you love! I wish we were headed there for Thanksgiving but this year we are spending it with my DH's family in Arizona! However, he waited forever to get the tickets and now we fly out at 12:45pm on Thanksgiving DAY and by the time we get to his parents house it will be after 6pm....BUT they are all eating Thanksgiving dinner at 1pm!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I hope there are some leftovers...not my favorite way to spend Thanksgiving Day!!! Oh well. Hahahaha

Yeah, we are lucky and we know it! We like it this way! Brian's family lives ALL over the place, and that's the way they like it! His sister (who's a Carmelite nun) and his oldest brother live in California, another sister is in Naperville, one was in Maryland up until a month or so ago when she moved somewhere between Muskegon and Grand Rapids she doesn't see anyone though, one brother's in Elkhart, and the other ones are sprinkled around South West Michigan. (There are 11 of them)

Thought I'd share the peasant top pattern from YCMT that I made for dd...I think it turned out OK, but the sleeves are a little short. I had some leftover snowman fabric from the stipwork jumper, so I used it for this top. I also did the ruffle with my new ruffler foot, and I am so, so happy that I bought the ruffler foot and return the gathering foot!

th_IMG_2398.jpg

Hmm..is it weird to wear snowman when you live in Houston, where it doen't even snow? LOL
That is so cute!!!! I love the little snowmen!

Too many fabulous customs to list in the past few days! Great job DISers, as usual!!! With a little encouragement, I'm braving out & posting my 1st attempts at Mickey appliques. Just mailed these off to my niece & can't wait for her to where them to Disneyland! They're not perfect but my 1st "practice" at this

th_PinkMickey.jpg

here's the hair bow that I attempted to match (never trying this again!!!):
th_PinkMBow2.jpg

Well, I'm off to pick my son up from his preschool Thanksgiving Feast! Have a great day!
Heather taunted me earlier today by telling me she got a sneak peak of these outfits! Not fair! These are all so cute!!
Josephine wore this to school yesterday. it has nursery rhymes all over it. I made capri length cut on the bottoms and I think they may be a tad toooo small.
th_IMG_3544.jpg

Aww, that is precious!

Ok, I found these sneakers and I thought only you ladies (and man) would appreciate them. They remind me of the decoupaged jeans, but with ribbon. My husband says they are the ugliest things he has ever seen!

th_100_1974.jpg

I should take a picture of my feet too. I walked the dog in them yesterday and when I got home both heels were bleeding! I also have a blister on my big toe. But they are cute, aren't they?

Ok Mindy, my big project will be in the next post and it includes shirring! Get ready!
I think they are cute!

what is everyone woking on today?

I made an eye spy bag.

Ok, here it is, the most favoritest thing I have ever made and it is for another kid! My neighbor has two little girls, two and six year old. I made the two year old a jumper top and am going to ribbonify some jeans for her and this is what I made for Megan's friend. It was a great learning experience so I don't mind spending so much time on it. And, she was admitted to the hospital last night with breathing problems so she has had a rough week. I need to finish the inside seams of the corset and add a ruffle to the peasant top but then I hope to take it to her tomorrow.

The peasant top is the Dainty Designs one and gave me a few fits. The corset was incredibly easy and shirring is fun! Thanks to Mindy for the encouragement and I hope the baby butt is better!

This is her imitation of JoJo:

Thanks to everyone on this thread for being so encouraging and nice. You guys get me to try things I think are way too hard and complicated.
That turned out fantastic!!! Too bad it's for someone else! You must make one for Megan!
And yes, baby is feeling much better today!

That is so good to hear!

OMG this is so DARLING....I really love how this turned out. I wish I had made DD a Thanksgiving outfit like this but I went from Halloween right to Christmas. What was I thinking? Your outfit is so perfect. Okay, I may have missed all the talk about shirring but do you think a novice like me can do something like that??? Is there a link or "how-to" posted somewhere?
In the bookmarks. Under the techniques and tips heading I believe.

These are all great!! Lydia NEEDS a bow like that to go with her glow in the dark Buzz outfit!!!

Well, I havent done any sewing today, but taking care of a sicky hubby. Sooo he didnt get to go to the father daughter dance with Georgia. But My dad took her instead. She is sooo excited. Georgia looks soooo beautiful , I almost got teary.

th_DSCN2669.jpg
Too beautiful!!!
How long does it take you to comb her hair? I ask because Lydia's has a nice light curl to it and it takes FOREVER!!! It gets so very tangly! I usually just put conditioner on her head and let it set for awhile and comb it in the tub. Do you have any tips for curly hair managability?

Cuteness abounds, chickas! I'm just puttin' it out there, that if your posted a work of art lately, it was fabulous...especially any FEET pictures :cutie:

I just have to say I am looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow so BE QUIET in the morning ;)

Now, I have a weird urge to do more I-Spy pillows. Mine are beyond well used. They keep my kids (and DH) quiet in church (when they should be listening, but don't tell).

I laid out my collection of 6x6 Disney squares today on the floor. I'm afraid I need a lot more than our exchange will yield. Pooh! So if any of y'all have a surplus of scraps on hand you could donate, let me know. :flower3: I would be insanely grateful (and warm).

I have no Tink, Muppets (I KNOW!), Pooh Characters, Star Wars, Incredibles, Bugs Life, 101 Dalmations etc. I don't mind flannel.

*PM me if you are feeling generous and in the Christmas Spirit.:flower3: :flower3: :flower3:

Oh boy it takes FOREVER!! We do the same thing in the shower. Wash it and condition it and brush it while still in there. Then we brush it onces she is out of the shower, and I braid it. That way it stays that way over night. and not too bad to brush out in the morning.

Georgia with her autism has A LOT of sensory issues. and washing her hair period is hard, but add on brushing those curls, its painful for her!! and me too.

We just start at the bottom and work our way up gently. and Braids are the key for us. They help more then you could believe!

I never thought of brushing it in the tub! My 6 year old has VERY long hair (her choice) and is very sensory (Our School's OT says she is one of the most sensory kids she has ever seen) and I have to load in the conditioner. Then when she gets out I spray in the no more tangles and braid... Those braids have saved us a few hundred times!!! I'll try the tub brushing! Thanks for the tip!

I'm not sure that I have any of the ones that you mentioned specifically, but I'll double check my stash. I do have lots of Mickey because that's what I signed up for the exchange. Could you use any more Mickey?

The bags are from theoffice supply isle at Wal-Mart. I put the stuff in (I used rice. Rinse it first & dry it in the oven so get rid of the powder) & glued the zipper shut, pulled of the zipper pull & then glued the ribbon over the zipper.
