Okay, I'm going to have to CASE this. I have that fabric and I have carried it into literally 4 stores looking for something to go with it to no avail. Apparently I never thought that white would work. Duh!

If anyone has seen my brain please tell it I miss it and would love for it to come home...

I had it for a month before I just realized "WHITE!" I have no idea why I never thought of it sooner, I was looking for a polka dot or something!

I attempted the stripwork jumper pattern from YCMT..but I am having such a hard time with the ruffles/gathers...they just never turn out the way I think they should....and I also have such a hard time aligning the seams...I have taken it apart so many times that the fabric are fraying on the raw edges, so I have decided to leave it as it and hopefully, no one will notice. I took pictures, but DH is on my computer..so I will upload it later..but I am wondering what is the best way to do the gathers...and to align the seams. Thanks!

Edited to add: Anyone has recommendation for a really good sewing book for a beginner sewer like me?

ok, here two more I finished today. the lighting was horrible tonight! Really bad, but now she is super grumpy and in a bath thank goodness!

Very cute! Love this one. Someday I may be brave enough to applique on jeans. I did just attempt my first ruffled jeans though.

Is anyone going between Nov. 28 and Dec. 9. We'll miss everyone getting there on the 9th, we have a relatively early flight out. We'll be shopping at the airport to kill the time before because there's no point going anywhere when you've got to be at the airport around 9:45 am.

We will be at DW November 25-Dec.1. I was wondering if anyone would be there during this time! It would be cool to meet a Diser!

We should arrive 11/30 and we'll leave sometime on Dec 8. We're driving, so times aren't set in stone. We're staying offsite about 3 miles away.

My sister is pregnant. They have been trying for almost a year and a half and finally after one IUI cycle - they are pregnant!

She is due in May and now I have a baby to sew for. They are not finding out the gender. Which means I must find all gender neutral things for now. Here is my first project. Both sister and BIL are Irish so the flannel fabric seems appropriate.

I used a small baby doll to demonstrate the blanket for DD.

Drama queen Lauren wanted her picture taken too.

What is magic sizing?

It's a spray almost like starch, but doesn't make fabric stiff. It give it body and makes it easier to work with. I love it!

That Ariel pic brought tears to my eyes!!!! And there is that super cute princess outfit that I want to CASE!!! Would you remind me what pattern you used?

I don't have a gathering foot, so I use the basting stitches and then I pull them to gather them....and I have the hardest time attaching them and they are so uneven......and I also use the basting stitches to do the ruffles.

I love that pattern and I had forgotten about it until now! I love seeing pictures of your little cutie, too! What kind of fabric is that on the outside? Is it just a cotton and then you line it with the fleece? If so, Steph and I need a tutorial on how you line it!

Okay, so I get a phone call from one of the girls who was bringing over her kids, and she had to pick up her son, who is my DD's "boyfriend", from school early because he was sick. Then I called the other mom to see what was going on and her DD had just thrown up so we ended up not having people over today.

So that gave me the excuse I needed to stop cleaning (not like I don't have people coming in here tomorrow) and to break out the sewing machine. WooHoo!

I'm willing to bet that's the first time that puke got a !! However, there is a 3 banana minimum on this board!

I did it I did it without throwing my craptacular Machine out the window. I wasn't worried about breaking the machine I was worring about the window it would have gone through. Althought there is t he option of opening the front door and chucking it down the stairs and watching it bounce all the way down. Thats what keep me trying today know it was an option. But I did it like I said I put ruffles on two pairs or overalls. Thanks for the support everyone.

Just curious how many of you are going to be at The World in May? Teresa and I (and our big 'ol family) will be there from May 3-May 17. We're staying off-site and I'm not sure which days we'll actually be at the parks yet.

Thanks! She was really slipping in and out of character. So we are at a Character breakfast, pretty small, not many tables (Ariel's Grotto). Aurora stands at one end of the table by DD2. DD10 gets up and moves over for the photo. I'm telling DS5 and DS8 to come on, get over in the photo. DS8 has ADHD and meds have not kicked in yet and he is not exactly jumping and running to the other side of the table (he's not exactly ignoring me either, he's just taking his time). This is a boy with self-esteem issues. Aurora tells him, in a sugary phony almost snide voice "you need to come over here now, because I've got other people to see!" As everyone is getting into place, I glance up and see her looking over my shoulder rolling her eyes at someone. Now Fairy Godmother on the other hand took time to speak to each child in the restaurant individually, so apparently she wasn't in quite as big of a hurry. Sheesh!

We had an issue at Animal Kingdom with Pocohantas(sp?) My DD, 4 at the time was SOOO excited to see her. She was actually hiding off to the side behind some long branches with a CM like she didn't want anyone to find her. My DD gets her autograph book out(a nice Creative Memories one) and in the excitement she just hands her the book. Pocohantas just scribbled her name and never looked to see if she had the book upside down(even Mickey and friends can look and see this...) Then she took a picture with her and off course we get the pictures back(pre-digital) and she has a snide, snooty look on her face! Luckily you don't run across this very often, it definitely takes away some of the magic!!!!

Do you use a gathering foot or a ruffler foot?

Also for those of you with the ruffler foot, when you ruffle the tiers for a tiered twirl skirt what kind of settings do you use? I just can't seem to get the settings right and have my layers match up! TIA

Also for those of you with the ruffler foot, when you ruffle the tiers for a tiered twirl skirt what kind of settings do you use? I just can't seem to get the settings right and have my layers match up! TIA

I gather mine before I attach (rather than gathering and stitching at the same time). I have my ruffler foot set for 1 stitch and pleat depth of 3. I use a stitch length of 5. For me, this yields an almost perfect 2:1 ratio. If I want a 3:1 ratio, I change my stitch length to 3.5.

I understand the frustration. that is a hard way
