That is so pretty! I will have to case it. You did a great job:love:

HI - is this a pillowcase dress or a jumper? i love how it lays - did you wing it? wendy

It is just basically a simple aline dress! And no I didn't wing!:rotfl: This was the first thing that I had sewn for her EVER so I definitely needed a pattern!
Butterick 3772 is the pattern I used! It wasn't exactly her size, so I just lengthened it!:)

Here ya go:

Wow! You did a fantastic job and your daughter is beautiful!!!:cutie:

The youngest one's done. I am going to have to sew the elastic but I want her to be here so I am sure I have it big enough. FYI 15 yards of tulle is apparently to much for a 5 year old lmao. That is probably 10 yards. I am off to finish the 14 year olds ... I am sure she will model hers when we are done.
Sorry, somehow I missed this! I love it! OK I need directions ASAP! My dd4 would go nuts over this!!!:dance3:

bsusanmb_I just had to comment on your family pics in your siggy! You have a BEAUTIFUL family!:) I am so glad your daughter is doing well!

I'm with you on this one T-beri. The bow thing is outrageous. Both of my girls have curly unmanageable hair that has to be held back with a bow (okay, DD2 really doesn't have that much, but she wants a bow like her big sister and one day it will be curly!). I went to a store in town that sells bows the other day and a plain, solid color bow big enough for DD4 was $10.00. A fancy bow was $16. Are you kidding me?????????? I am currently contemplating learning how to make bows. I do buy my plain, single color bows from Ebay and I usually pay around $2.00 for a 4-5 inch bow, but I buy them 10 at a time. I love the fancier bows though and I can't afford them so I guess I'll learn how to make them. This craft thing is getting expensive. It started with scrapbooking, then decorating cookies, now I sew (the most expensive hobby yet!) and moving on to hairbows too!

Oh, man, you sound like me...one thing to the next to the next. I tried bows in the past, but I just couldn't get them as tight and full as I wanted. I have bags and drawers of scrapbooking stuff, piles of fabric, bags of yard, and if I go back to hairbows...I will need a bigger house!

Bows were my first obsession! I love making bows and my dd's have a TON OF THEM! They have a different bow for every outfit! And the entire reason I started making them was because they were so darn expensive! Granted ribbon can cost but $10.00 for a single color bow is ridiculous!

Here...
This was the beginning of the minnie outfit. I woulld like to point out that the top ruffle is not straight b/c I haven't put snaps on the straps and she wouldn't hold still for me to pin straight.

This is the new and improved version...after some minor adjustments

What 20 yards of tulle looks like on a 14 year old. ;)
yard056.jpg
And for good measure just because I like the picture.
The directions are on the first page under tutu it is just the tied one they are not sewn. It was supposed to be a dress but she said she looked "fat" so we flipped and I am buying a shirt to go with it and decorating it as well.

I know it is that 14 year old mentality. We have talks about it often, how what she sees in the magazines is not realistic etc. Joys of having a girl and living in this society.

Well guys, sad news to report!! Nana is here, but today, while at JoAnn's at closing, we were checking out, and she fell and ended up breaking her right arm.

So, no sewing for Nana for a little bit!

She got a gash on her eyebrow from her glasses, but her shoulder took the weight of the entire fall. She ended up breaking the very, top park of her arm (near the ball). She has to wear a sling for a while, and follow up with an orthopedic doctor when she gets back to Virginia!!

I have been lurking quite a bit the last few weeks and I just want to say that I am loving all of the outfits everyone is posting.

Wanted to share my second project. Started working on some overalls and things did not go as planned. My DH thought I was possessed when I started talking to the sewing machine. :rolleyes1 Any hoo. I finally got the bib done after breaking a needle and realizing that the needle was in the wrong position.

The worse thing was once I finished the bib my daughter refused to wear it. I had to bribe her by telling her I would take her to auntie's house. ;) I didn't finish the ruffles on the bottom or do the stitching around the applique because it was so jacked up. Going to rip it off and start over tomorrow.

She started laughing after I took the first picture and smiled for the second one.

Somebody please tell me that this will get easier and one day my projects will look good!

And since it was hanging right there when I was taking photos of the bags, and since I'm getting so close to 100 posts, here is a handy dandy way to store/organize your ribbon. I got the idea from a coworker of DH's. It is a pants hanger from Target. The "arms" swivel out so it's way easy to use!

I love this idea, it is how I store my ribbon. Good minds think alike!
