send her our hugs and tell her Aurora has been worn to TWO halloween parties so far and its only MID OCT !!;) Healing wishes Nana!:cloud9:

Well guys, sad news to report!! Nana is here, but today, while at JoAnn's at closing, we were checking out, and she fell and ended up breaking her right arm.

So, no sewing for Nana for a little bit!

She got a gash on her eyebrow from her glasses, but her shoulder took the weight of the entire fall. She ended up breaking the very, top park of her arm (near the ball). She has to wear a sling for a while, and follow up with an orthopedic doctor when she gets back to Virginia!!

Uh oh. My daughter broke her arm like that when she was in 3rd grade. Be thankful it's not in summer. She couldn't wash her underarm and all we could do was poof powder under there. She got a little ripe toward the end. The funny thing is that she was starring in a school play as the Little Red Hen and we made a red cover for her sling and it was her wing.
I hope Nana heals fast. I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't sew.

I don't remember who did it, but thanks for getting my Prince Charming outfit put up. I couldn't get that done last night for the life of me.

How awful! So soryy Nana! Praying for a speedy recovery!

I have been lurking quite a bit the last few weeks and I just want to say that I am loving all of the outfits everyone is posting.
Wanted to share my second project. Started working on some overalls and things did not go as planned. My DH thought I was possessed when I started talking to the sewing machine. :rolleyes1 Any hoo. I finally got the bib done after breaking a needle and realizing that the needle was in the wrong position.
The worse thing was once I finished the bib my daughter refused to wear it. I had to bribe her by telling her I would take her to auntie's house. ;) I didn't finish the ruffles on the bottom or do the stitching around the applique because it was so jacked up. Going to rip it off and start over tomorrow.

She started laughing after I took the first picture and smiled for the second one.

Somebody please tell me that this will get easier and one day my projects will look good!

These are adorable and your daughter is sooo cute even without smiling!:)

That is so pretty! I will have to case it. You did a great job:love:
Susan

Thank you! I have to say this took me a while! I need to get some different "feet" for my sewing machine! If I had the right one to sew the circle skirt hem, it might have been easier! It took forever to hem, then I decided to add the ruffle! :rotfl:

Thanks, case away!

Oh my goodness, did she fall on something in the store? That is so terrible. Nana I hope your arm gets feeling better soon so you can get back to sewing!

OT-A couple of years ago my DH and I were at Kohl's on Black Friday and I had a few Little People toys in my hands and we were cutting through the mens section and someone had ditched a big duffle bag right in the middle of the walkway and I fell FLAT on my face! It hurt so bad, my knee immediately started throbbing and I was SOOO embarassed. I didn't tell anyone at the store and just wanted to get out of there, but looking back I should have reported it and went to the Dr., because I am having bad problems with my knee to this day.

So Nana I feel for you and hope that you get feeling better soon.

Where is everyone this morning?:confused3 You must all be sewing, something I should be doing! Here is a pic I took this morning of dd4 in the first dress I made for her! It was very simple of course but I think she looks soo cute.

Revrob said "I use the 6" rolls for my tutus. I use www.nashvillewraps.com"

Can you tell me how much of the 6 inch ribbon is reasonable for an above the knee tutu and how much for the longer version?

Do you gather it, or is this for the ones that you tie on the elastic?

I make mine really full. I'll post a pic. I use 3 rolls (75 yards), sometimes just a little less, but it is definately more than 50 yards. You can make it work with 50 yards, but it just isn't as full. I use the hand tie method. Sorry I don't have pics of the tutu on.

Well, I had a huge mult-quote reply going yesterday and my computer decided to turn itself off right before I pressed send. I think I was saying something snotty to HeatherSue (about bows of course), something nice to Teresa, something about those cool bags I am going to CASE, something about begging for the pattern for Heather's cool Cinderella dress she is working on because I like to copy her, I can't remember what else. Maybe something about T's adorable outfits. Anyway, sorry!

Here is something for the boys:

Ms McKenna - the tutu looks AWESOME! What a sweet young lady you have! SO -did you try the rotary cutter on the tulle? What'd you think?

My DD2 would absolutely flip for something this girly, so I may have to make her one. How do you attached the ribbon and flowers?

The ribbon is just tied around the elastic waistband. The flowers were glued on with e6000. Pretty simple!

Oh NO!:sad1:
I pray she feels better quickly.
She and I collaborated on making 3 Mickey Pirate outfits for my boys for our trip in Sept. Everyone loved them. The CMs went nuts for them.
I hope to see her sewing again soon:)

Finally finished my other dds dress, so it was my first circle skirt, my first applique. What do you think?

Sorry to hear about your Nana!

I am here to tell you that practice makes perfect! Keep at it and you will be sewing up a storm sooN!
Lori

Thanks for all the well wishes for Nana!! She's up this morning and is a little sore, but in good spirits. She has a bit of a black eye from where her glasses cut her, but she's doing well. She's a little disappointed that she can't do any sewing for a while.

I do the tie ones and I use a 25yd roll for the above the knee and two rolls for the longer- about 50 yds. These work on my daughter who is 2 and up to our neighbor who is eight. Its just obviously poofier on the little kids. I do the short poofy ones as 5 inc strips and the longer ones as between 6-10 inches depending on the kid. We are making 30 of these to sell at a craft show so we have been practicing a lot!!

I still did it wrong, maybe I need to go to bed. DH fired up the pellet stove for the first time this year and it's too warm in here and making me sleeeepy...
So if you follow the link in my last post and scroll down a little, you'll see it. You can also see what the bunkbed on a Carnival cruiseship look like and my horse who grew a mustache last spring which was toooo funny.
California Screamin

I looked at this last night, but I was too sleepy and lazy to post. I love love love it! That is going to be super cute and you will probably have to fight the princesses off of him with a stick!

How does a horse grow a mustache???? Is that something that happens a lot?
