On a little side note, I am actually a little bit divided on celebrating Halloween. I dont know if anyone else on here is too????:confused3 We try to do more of a fall/harvest festival theme. But the girls love love:love: the dressing up part and play dress up all year. I think of it as a chance to restock the dress up box. That and with left over dance recital dresses:rolleyes:

We don't celebrate Halloween either. We tend to stick with the fall festival theme too. We will go to the farm and milk a cow, go on a hayride and pick a pumkin.

So, Tampa area girls, when are we going to have a get-together??? :confused3

Nana is coming down next weekend, and we're taking a road-trip to Ocala to check out Hobby Lobby on Friday.

I am in a tennis league that plays Fridays until 11, maybe I can meet you girls for lunch? I will have the kids with me because they are out of school for some reason. I used to go to Hobby Lobby all the time when we lived in Milton and I miss it so much! Actually, I never bought fabric there, just scrapbooking supplies and home stuff so it would really neat to check out the fabric.

Hi, I bought the t-shirts and pre-made bling from Michaels crafts...all on sale. All I had to do was iron it on! I dont know how durable it will be after handwashing??? but I figure they will only wear the outfits a few times this month. We are going as a family to the pumpkin patch/harvest festival on Sat as well. :yay:

I bought the pre-made skull iron on bling at JoAnn's and I have washed it (in the washer) and dried it (in the drier) and it has been fine.

I hate Halloween but not for any religious reason. When I worked at a bank we had a pretty scary robbery with two people in Halloween masks. As Jacob gets older he wants scarier costumes and it is really hard on me. DH is really sweet and laid down the law that he cannot have the kind of costume the gunman wore, unfortunately it is one of the most popular ones! Sorry for sharing so much, but I really dread Halloween!

Where can you find the glow in the dark rick-rack? I looked at JoAnns the other day and couldn't find any? That is really cool!!

I rolled $113 in change today. Yikes, did that SUCK!

Glow in the dark, how cool is that...Lydia will be turning the lights off all the time now

Notice how I have NOT mentioned the scissor accident.

Of course I do think a horseshoe print on Stephs butt (which frankly wasn't even a very good target-It must have been a very accurate horse) is Fetchin' Hilarious!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

...t.

Did you get to keep the money, or was it for work? I hope it was yours!

Yeah, Lydia keeps going into the bathroom and turning off the lights! (The bathroom doesn't have windows, so it get's dark enough to see the ricrac!).

And, thanks for not mentioning the scissor accident!

Poor little Steph!!!

I have lurked for some time now, gradually sifting my way through entirely too much of this thread! Anyway, I want to come out and play now, too!

We're taking our first trip to Disney as a family (DH and I have both been, but not since the 90s) next WEEK! :woohoo: Along the planning way, I got it into my head that I (ahem, I mean my 3-year-old) needed a Pooh twirl skirt. Mind you, I have never, ever used a sewing machine before. Ever. Mom to the rescue! She brought my grandmother's old machine over and helped me figure out the basics. It's no where near perfect, BUT, it's twirly and my daughter loves it. Of course, her little sister couldn't be left out, so when my mom went home, I attempted matching bloomers. Then a hat. THEN, I got all cocky and made a swing-type top to go with it. I even sort of appliqued, by bonding a piece of Pooh fabric on tops for both girls. Whew. This sewing stuff is addicting! :lmao:

Once I reach the magic number of posts, I'll be sure to share pics. We don't post our girls on line (which makes me so sad), but I'll get you pics of the outfits in some way. I am so, so grateful for the ideas and suggestions and encouragement (to others, since obviously I was lurking) from this thread. I'm excited to get to know you all a bit and learn along the way.
Welcome!!!!! You need 10 posts to post pictures, so get busy typing random stuff! Like T said, we don't care, we just want to see pictures!

I'm thinking you all should have a meet up in May, like sometime between May 3-May 17. ;)

Hmm, missed the post you were quoting. We don't celebrate Halloween either. Which, is why I don't comment on any Halloween outfits. Thought I'd mention that incase someone wondered why I commented on someone else's outfit and not there's or why I deleted the picture of the Halloween costume from my post! Nothing personal. :)

Oh Steph! How horrible for you. :grouphug:

Where can you find the glow in the dark rick-rack? I looked at JoAnns the other day and couldn't find any? That is really cool!!

I got mine over a year ago at Joann's it was on 90% clearance. I think it was probably for Halloween. It is made by Wrights. I have seen it on Ebay before too.

I always feel like I am butting into the middle of conversations. ;) Anyway I can design knit stuff. If I was going to make a Mickey head one I would do it as intarsia instead of swiss darning. I don't like the extra bulk. Ooooooo a mickey head/hidden mickey fair-isle design would rock!

Okay, by "I knit" what you should have known that I meant is I taught myself to knit just under a year ago and stick to one color and basic shapes. I did have this great cloche pattern which forced me to use circular needles and was doing a bang up job until I got close to the top and I THINK I needed to switch to double point needles??? I dunno, the pattern called for both and never specified switching to DP needles, so I figured you could use either....then I got all screwed up and lost the marker and long story even longer I now have to knit it over again.
SO yeah intarsia??? it ain't gonna happen. I have dreams of being a fantabulous knitter...I'm still working on it. So swiss darning seemed like a plausible alternative. right?? (plus if you go on craftster and search stirling one skein cloche, that's the pattern and if you can help in anyway LMK...it's for my gatsby halloween costume!!and I'm totally subbing some merino wool) I have this great hat pattern for Lily too, it's actually a lace pattern and it will be my first but I am DYING to try it.. it has little holes for pig tails to come through-how clever!!:cutie:

...t.

So from here on out everyone should know if I mention any type of crafting... I probably taught myself and only do it half as well as everyone else. I'm always in a rush to learn and usually skip tedious instructions, I hate being a beginner and wish to learn overnight by osmosis.

This is very cute. I love it.

I love those fabrics together. Never too many pictures. Is that a You can make this pattern? How do those work? Do you print them out at home? Do you end up having to tape pieces together? DO you have to enlarge them yourself? HMM sorry to ask so many questions. It turned out really cute. I have to find some of that glow in the dark rick rack.

I'm sorry, I don't remember if I or anyone else answered your questions! So, in case they didn't, I will. And, if I did allready, well repetition for emphasis!

It is a YCMT pattern. You print them at home, and you have to tape the pieces together. You just sent your printer to print full size, and you are good to go.

You might want to try Ebay for the ric rac, I don't think they sel lit anymore.

Ok, dh came home early today and helped with the girls so I have finally caught up!!!!!

This is adorable! Did you use different sizes for the strips? I just love the colors and patterns you used!

ETA: Oh, thank you so much for turning the picture!!! I have a really really hard time telling what something looks like sideways!

Yeah I'm glad it worked!!! Thank you so much! I did not use a pattern at all which is sooo hard when you are a newbie to sewing, but I thought it truned out cute! I didn't use different sized strips. The printed fabric is actually striped that way so it made it easy. I don't think this makes any sense but maybe you can get the idea!

I was sewing my wedding dress, and had to trim some threads. So, I was sitting on the couch with those little but very very pointy kind of scissors. I got up to put the dress away, and then went to sit down on the part of the couch that is the crack of the cushions (because that's the kind of NICE person I am, I took the rotten cushion crack part of the couch so no one else had to!). Well, no sooner had I plopped myself down than I LEAPED right back up! Oh my gosh, it really really hurt! I ran upstairs to the bathroom (we lived in a tri-level so there were only 7 steps) and tried to look in the mirror to see what the heck had happened! It was in the cheek part of my bum, in case you were wondering! It was Heather I believe who found the scissors in the crack of the couch. This was about a month before my wedding by the way. So, my Mom takes me to the doctor, who LAUGHED while she was stitching me up! ACTUALLY LAUGHED OUT LOUD as I lay there with my butt exposed to the world while she stitched it up! She said, "I don't have to be very careful, because really, who is going to see this?" To which my Mom (hmm, what was my Mom doing in there with me?) replied, "Well, she is getting married in a few weeks, so someone WILL be seeing it." Which only made the doctor laugh more. (jerky doctor)
:lmao: :rotfl2: I can't breathe, I can't BREATHE!!!:rotfl:

Is there a photosession limit here???? :confused3 :rotfl: :rotfl: Next I have to make DD9's skirt and something for myself with the left over scraps! :rolleyes1
These are too cute, and so are your models!! No, there is no photo session limit. The more pics, the better!
My Target had white angel wings for $1 the other day in the dollar spot. Buy the cheap wings and cover them with the black tulle. I wouldn't even strip off the white - just cover right over it.

Oooh thanks, Tessa is going to be a winter fairy and I don't want to make the wings from scratch!

Candy Corn Dress-

Thanks for everyones kind words. I used the YCMT shirt pattern. The dress was a Frankenpattern. I put black and white tights and a orange cardigan on DD. It dropped 30 degrees since yesterday. On Tuesday it was 95- right now it is 56!!!!!

I always put ballet leotards under my girls Halloween costumes. It helps lock in the warmth.

Heather's Minnie Dot Fabric-

I have an idea. If no one has claimed it here is my thought. Send the fabric to me and I will make a dress for a winner. You can collect names and randomly select someone. I will then make a dress for a lucky little girl. If it is okay I would love to do this especially since Heather did something really nice to surprise my girls. I would like to pass the kindness on.

LMK what you think.

Yep, that makes sense!! I just love this!

Here are the promised pictures of the glow in the dark ricky racky on Lydie biddy's Buzz Lightbeer skirt! ;)

It looks much cooler in person!

QUOTE]

Uh Teresa....I think you pronounced it wrong...According to my DD it is called Wickedy Wack!!
Geez...don't you know anything....:rotfl:

So, Tampa area girls, when are we going to have a get-together??? :confused3

Nana is coming down next weekend, and we're taking a road-trip to Ocala to check out Hobby Lobby on Friday.

Hey..count me in too...yes I'm on the other coast...almost...but I'd drive in for a get- to- gether....

OOOhh...WAY cool! I'm willing to bet our brother would really like it, too!

COOL TeresaJoyce!

I bought some glow in the dark fabric paint I'm going to add to our witchie costumes.

Spooooooooky!

Twob4Him: LOVE those twirl skirts! Soooo cute! Very twirley!!!

We, as in Spongie and our combined children, want to go to a super cool Pumpkin Place in Gardener Villiage. We'll snap pictures and frolic...then go buy pumpkins at Walmart for $3.00 a piece :sad2:
I am so impressed you remembered Teresa's REAL name!

I bought some glow in the dark nail polish at Waldemort and it is GREAT! I painted my nails with it 2 weeks ago and I still get scared at night when something's glowing by my face!

I can't wait to see you and Spongie frolicking. You better post pictures!

Details please!

And to bribe you, I will tell you that one time when I was 16 I went out to get my horse from the pasture. He ran and hid behind this mean mare. She turned her rear to me as I tried to get around her and ended up kicking me and I landed in the mud. I had a horseshoe-shaped bruise on my butt!
I guess she decided to out herself! Sorry about the horseshoe bruise. tee-hee-hee

Notice how I have NOT mentioned the scissor accident.
Sure, make me look bad why don'tcha.

I have lurked for some time now, gradually sifting my way through entirely too much of this thread! Anyway, I want to come out and play now, too!
WELCOME!! (I'm too lazy to look through the smileys for the fancy welcome, but my heart is in it- really!) I can already tell you're going to be lots of fun! Can't wait to see your creations. Post away!

I always feel like I am butting into the middle of conversations.
Well, at least you're not "butt"ing into the middle of a pair of scissors sticking up from the couch. :rotfl: Oh, I'm Miss Cracky McCracken today. :rotfl:

I hate Halloween but not for any religious reason. When I worked at a bank we had a pretty scary robbery with two people in Halloween masks. Oh, you poor thing. That must have been so scary for you.

LMK what you think.

WOW! That is soo nice of you to offer!!!! And who wouldn't want a dress made by you! Your stuff is great! I couldn't claim the fabric because I have three yards at home now! But I am soooo afraid to cut into it because I can't get anymore!!!!! Our fabric stores around here are NOT Fantastic!!! I see all this cute material and then I go to our Joanns and Hobby Lobby and they don't have anything!!!! ARGHHHHHHH! I finally found some Minnie dot at Walmart but they only carry at Halloween and now are sold out!!!! Soo who knows when I will get the nerve to actually cut into it!!! I will have to soon we leave for Disney the day after Thanksgiving!!!

I figured I'd share my new spot for tulle for tutus. I just bought the stuff to make Mya one of those long fairy tutus and I got a 100 yard role from www.efavormart.com

I bought the tulle (100 yrds), 1 1/2 inch grosgrain ribbon in a maching color (25 yards) and with shipping it was only $17 something....super cheap!!!! I think shipping was around $5 so each roll was less than $4!!!! I'm pretty sure my tulle was $3.99 so that makes it an unbelieveable $0.039 per yard. I'm sure no ja's coupon can beat that! It took about 5 days to arrive.
