Finally, I am in a whole world of trouble because I booked our trip during Hannukah. My jewish MIL is not too happy that we are celebrating Hannukah at MVMCP. My DH thinks it is hilarious. (He is jewish three days a year.) I thought it would be nice to surprise her with special Hannukah customs for the girls. I showed DH the fabric and said over his dead body!!!!

I double dog dare you! :stir:

Love all the Christmas fabric!
Ugh! Is it Christmas fabric time already?

:sad1: :sad1: Oh Susan, I'm practically blubbering now. :sad1: :sad1: My heart just aches to bring one of those children home to bless our lives. Thank you so much for sharing.

I also have a sewing related question. How do you keep the bobbin thread from unraveling off the bobbin when you are storing them? My "bobbin bin" is a mess of tangled thread and it's driving me nuts. Any tips?

My bobbin box was the same way until I started putting them in those little ziplock snack size bags. I put by dark, light, and neutral colors in the little bags and since they are clear I can reach for the ones I want. Over time they do get a little messy if I am just flinging them into the bobbin box..but the system works for me.....Nana

You are on! It will be the ugliest little thing in the world. It will look like Hannukah Harry threw up ruffles and ric rac. I am going to grin the whole time!!! I just better not let the kids get to close to the candles!

You know my MIL did not find my Hannuka tree cute either!

Wendy- by the way thanks for the pm. I have not had enough time to thank you properly but it ment a lot!!!!

Ok I finally got up the nerve to get on the sewing machine and learn! Here is a picture of my first skirt! Yay! I practiced on this one with fabric that was $1. I know it's simple and not Disney, but I just can't believe it turned out ok to wear!:lmao:
rei008.jpg

I also picked up more fabric last nite. I think I'm going to make twirl skirts and overalls. I am working on appliques, but haven't figured it out yet.:confused3 Any tips?
rei010.jpg

Applique Tips...Hmmm definately use Rayon embroidery thread, you will love the sheen and vibrant colors...also invest in an Open Toe Clear Embroidery/Satin Stitch Foot. it only like $12-15 and really makes things easier to get good results because you can SEE what you are doing. I recently got one and LOVE it so much I bought one for AliKat99..Nana

Hi everyone,

I don't know if any of you remember me, but I used to post here fairly regularly before summer. With the girls home, though, it just got too hard for me to keep up. Then, I had a slight ToonTown addiction that kept me off the boards for a couple of weeks too. Anyway, I would come on as often as I could and just scan the board looking at the pictures. Ya'll have been doing some really good work. Props to everyone. I know I won't ever catch up, and I haven't been sewing a whole lot (except for some pirate outfits I made for our cruise). I hope to get started again soon though.

Anyway, t-beri, you are the reason I am coming out of lurkdom. My girls enjoy pin trading and looking for hidden Mickeys, too. If you have the pins and the book, those activities don't cost anything either. I don't know if you have pins or the hidden Mickey book; but if not, I'd like to send you some. I don't have a lot of pins; but if you send me your address, I will get a couple in the mail to you. I also have the hidden mickey book. It has a section on HMs at the resorts. Anyway, if you are interested, PM me your address, okay. I can still get it in the mail to you before you leave.

Love the fabrics, but I especially love the hannukah fabric!!!!!

do it! it'll make your mil happy and your hubby will get over it.

I hate how wrapping paper places use pretty blues and silvers for mainly hannukah! I wouldn't care to wrap everything in hannukah paper, but the receivers might think I was crazy.
thank goodness my partner feels the same way. hehehe. she picked out some hannukah paper on Sunday when we were looking at wrapping paper for christmas.

i think baby jesus would approve. after all, I'm sure the frankincense was wrapped in hannukah paper! ;)

Stands around looking hot!! LOL...He's the cruise director for the Wonder and he does some of the other cruises as well. He's a doll!!

I second that! He was on our first cruise, it was on the Magic for 7 days. Last year we had some girl my hubby thought was cute!

We just got back from our first cruise this past Saturday. Rachel was on the Magic. We really liked her, and just to stay on topic, I'll have to post some pics of the girls in their pirate costumes when I get a chance. Ya'll will recognized my youngest's costume. It was totally CASEd from one I saw on this board.

Here is the latest outfit I made DD. I thought it turned out cute, and she seems to like it, so that's what counts, right?!

Sorry about the wet hair - she was just out of the bathtub!

Just saw that fabric at Hobby Lobby and like it, loved what you did with it! Great Job!

Wow, I love this! The colors are so cute together and the skirt is perfect!

OT: Scrappy brought us a present this morning: a dead baby bunny. It's the third one his gotten in a month. I don't know why they keep coming into our fenced yard. Don't they notice that there's less of them coming back each time? Thankfully, Megan doesn't totally grasp the situation. She told Scrappy not to bring nature into the house. Her brother says, yes, especially dead nature!

Dead nature is not good, although I think I might be more upset if the nature was still alive in my house too! Thankfully Oscar is not that quick and mostly blind so I don't have to worry about it. He's also a chicken too

SSSOOO Nobody has anything ready for Christmas yet? I need ideas. I am set for fall, now I need Christmas/ New yrs.
Lori

No Christmas yet, still working on Halloween in the hopes that it wil be below 90 sometime before then and the girls can actually wear something that I made them!

Here's the Halloween set I made for dd5 yesterday! It feels really nice to have actually totally finished a project. I'll be working on dd10's patchwork jeans today to "match" her sister.
th_Halloween_set.jpg

Very cute, I have a lot of the same fabric, now if I could just do something with it, or at the very least, finish what I have started!

isn't it great to completely finish a project:goodvibes i have a couple i still need to tweak and then they will be finished:rolleyes1 great outfit

Does anybody else have this problem?? while you sleep you are tossing and turning because your brain is thinking of all the sewing projects you need to do and or new ideas for stuff to do  (not that you don't already have enough) your sewing machine is calling you , calling you first thing in the morning and is telling you to neglect your house and or your kiddos, studying ect. and get on and start.... :rolleyes1 or is this just happening to me ... :scared1: :scared1: i think we need a support group:rotfl:!!! everyone have a great day:hug:[/QUOTE]

I have this problem too! My brain won't stop thinking and Lord knows I have enough fabric to clothe an army! I am constantly thinking about what I can do with it. Since I learned to sew I seem to be obsessed with buying fabric! I actually walked out of Hobby Lobby today with absolutely nothing though:yay: :yay: :yay: However, if they had had any leopard Santa print left it would have been mine!

Okay,
I can't stand it anymore!!! MYTWOTINKS post about how materialistic we all are broke me.. Of course I've been sneaking onto the dis anyway:rolleyes1 Some situations have thrown some financial kinks into our WDW trip:mad:My DH has a tendency to make everything a worst case scenario and it's my job as mother and wife to keep everyone's spirits up. Well, looking at all the fabulous outfits my daughter would be NOT wearing to WDW started to bum me out. But as it turns out not being on the dis was bumming me out even more. I kept sneaking in and wanting to post, but feeling like a schmuck just e-mailing TJ instead :rotfl: So. I can't go to the parks and I'm getting over it. I do have MNSSHP tix and there is a possibility we will stick around for an extra day to trick or treat in DTD, where DD will wear her Halloween patchwork twirl. And we are going to go to the petting zoo at Ft. Wilderness, she can wear her AK twirl top there. The only outfit that I didn't have the fabric cut on was her epcot one and maybe I'll just save that for our next trip. We usually go at least twice a year, but it's been a tough year, I'm still holding out hope for a spring trip- or possibly an overnight to MVMCP:santa: . So, in light of MYTWOTINKS post on being thankful, I'm back and will be thankful that my daughter has cute custom clothes to wear around town and that we are going to WDW at all. I will just have to focus on planning our next trip and practice sewing so I can make even better outfits for it!!!Besides, I'm secretly hoping that I find a way to go to the parks anyway:wizard:
SO now to catch up on some much missed posting; I made the top 10 ya know, gotta keep up my reputation.

Love this jean jumper. I've wanted to do a jean jumper like the one in the photobucket w/ the Tulle underneath and this totally inspired me to try it!!! Glad you all had a wonderfull trip!!

LOVE the carriage bling!!! Wish I'd thought of it!! I am putting a satin ribbon at the bottom of DD's princess pillow case dress and am having it embroidered w/ "when you wish upon a star" I think I'll have her save some space for some bling...I'm quite the little thief

That TOTALLY counts and I TOTALLY love it!!! Seems like we get a lot of bathtub hair around here.

I bet the girls will just love their matching but not the same outfits.

So, I'm gonna stop being a big baby and come back, cause IT WAS KILLIN' ME!!!! I hate being left out-even when I do it to myself.
...t.

T-beri, so glad you're back! No reason to exile yourself! I know how hard it is to see things and want them for yourself/kids when others have them. I have people in my life that I have to work very hard at not being envious of and it sucks! I am happy and my kids are healthy, my husband is great (most of the time anyway:) ) so things are good.

For all of us wallyworld shoppers. Thought you would enjoy this....

This has been around awhile, but is always fun to re-read...

This is why women should not take men shopping against their will.

DON'T TAKE ME IF I DON'T WANT TO GO...........

After Mr. & Mrs. Fenton retired, Mrs. Fenton insisted her husband accompany her on her trips to Wal-Mart.

Unfortunately, Mr. Fenton was like most men--he found shopping boring & preferred to get in & get out.

Equally unfortunately, Mrs. Fenton was like most women--she loved to browse.

One day Mrs. Fenton received the following letter from her local Wal-Mart.

Dear Mrs. Fenton,

Over the past six months, your husband has been causing quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behavior and may be forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against Mr. Fenton are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras.

1. June 15: Took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in people's carts when they weren't looking.

2. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in House wares to go off at 5-minute intervals.

3. July 7: Made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women's restroom.

4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, "Code 3 in Housewares. Get on it right away."

5. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&M's on layaway.

6. September 14: Moved a "CAUTION - WET FLOOR" sign to a carpeted area.

7. September 15: Set up a tent in the camping department & told other shoppers he'd invite them in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department.

8. September 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him he began crying and screamed,"Why can't you people just leave me alone?"

9. October 4: Looked right into the security camera & used it as a mirror while he picked his nose.

10. November 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were.

11. December 3: Darted around the store suspiciously while loudly humming the "Mission Impossible" theme.

12. December 6: In the auto department, he practiced his "Madonna look" by using different sizes of funnels.

13. December 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, yelled "PICK ME! PICK ME!"

14. December 21: When an announcement came over the loudspeaker, he assumed a fetal position and screamed "OH NO! IT'S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!"

And last, but not least,

15. December 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, and then yelled very loudly, " Hey! There's no toilet paper in here!"

Regards,
Wal-Mart

That is hysterical. I have to admit that I think the alarm clock thing is very funny and seriously thought about doing it!

Yeah! I finished the Buzz outfit!!! Lydia loves it!!! Me too actually!! I even finished the top! I decided to go with a paesant blouse with spiral sleeves. I need to put the ric rac on the top yet, but other than that, I'm done! YIPPEEE!!!

Lydia was in "model mode" so she was doing some goofy silly 4 year old faces! And, she insisted that that leaopard print material "headband' really went with the outfit!!! :rotfl:

Ok, here are way too many pictures for yah!!! We tried to take some pictures where you could see the ric rac glowing in the dark, but we haven't figure out how to do that yet! Just believe me when I say it looked really cool!

A close up of the fabrics. The blue "moon" fabric is also very sparkly.
