My DD9 and her friend have been sewing every Tuesday for the last 4 weeks. Tonight they finished their first project...cute halter tops. They are wearing black t-shirts, skirts/jeans and/or leggins with them. They did all of the cutting and sewing with just a little of my help (I helped them gather the bottom ruffle)! I am so proud of them!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes

Lisazoe - I am in love with your raggedy Ann set!!!! My favorite doll as a little girl was my 3 foot tall Raggedy Andy. I thnk that I was Raggedy Ann for Halloween every year from about the age of 3 to 9. I might just have to really stretch my attention span and try to make something similar. Can you even buy a Raggedy Ann coloring book nowadays?

I forgot to mention that Oct. 4-8 Butterick patterns will be $.99 at Hancock & they will have Simplicity 5 for $5.00 Oct. 7-8.

Thanks. She's definitely a classic. It seems like coloring books that are available now are an updated version of the doll, kind of like they did with Holly Hobby and Strawberry Shortcake.

Well, if you recall I have been complaining about not feeling well...I finally hoofed it to the doctor and I have a sinus infection and an ear infection. At least I got some drugs and I should be back to myself soon.

My *2* Angels: my daughter was born in Milton so it will hold a special place in my heart. We used to love to drive to Destin for dinner and let the kids play on the beach.

HeatherSue: Love the outfit on Tessa. Thanks for giving the pattern: I am definitely picking that up next time McCalls go on sale.

There is so much talent to comment on, so I will just show what I finally finished. My model is in bed so here it is:

A close up of the appliqués, for real, please don't laugh.

Isn't this turkey fabric the cutest? I bought way too much of it and am deciding what to do with the rest of it. Except for the one amoeba leaf, I am pretty proud of it!

hi everyone,,,,

okay - i was looking on ebay, and it seems that a size 4-5 twirl skirt is about 19-20 inches at the waist unstretched and then the length is anywhere from 11.5-16 inches.....what do you think is a good measurement for a 4 year old (on the petite side)? i think im going to go with the 3 tier skirt...would love anyones measurements!!! the pattern that is on this thread is for a 6 year old, and im afraid its too big for abby...

also, i have halloween fabric - 2 of them coordinate, and then i was going to do a panel of black - which order should i put them in?????

thanks!!! wendy

Terrific outfit...love all of the colors.....just great!:yay:

I've been experimenting with my ruffler foot. I've had it almost a year and still don't take full advantage of what it can do. I want to be able to use it to gather one tier while attaching it to the next. Here are two Halloween skirts I made Sunday night for Zoe using some fabric I dug up from the depths of my stash. I know it was inexpensive so I figured it I really messed up the skirts, I wasn't out much more than my time.

I still have some fine-tuning to do on this but Zoe was thrilled by the twirl skirt fairy's visit. LOL

As for Disney themed sewing, I finished these cute matching lounge sets. They are very simple in style but I thought the idea of using Chip on one shirt and Dale on the other was great so they match without being identical (I can't take credit for the idea).

OK, last photos I promise. It's not Disney but I loved how it came out. I'm not usually one to select vintage looking prints but I think they were perfect for this Raggedy Ann set.

As always, astonishingly beautiful! It sure doesn't look like you messed anything up with those twirl skirts!

Cute outfit.

If you only knew how long it took to convince myself that I didn't need that turkey fabric. It's soooo cute. Now I want it again. :rotfl:

It's a little embarassing when a 9 year old is a better sewer than I am! Of course, if you asked my middle school home ec teacher she wouldn't have been surprised, according to her I had an attitude problem. It's the only class in my whole academic life that I got a D in. I'm thinking very unkind thoughts about her right now just thinking about it!

The funny part about that is I became a teacher in that same school while she was still there! Fun times in the teacher lunchroom!

Beautiful! I've been looking for some autumn ideas and that is fantastic!

These are the shirts I made for our Crystal Palace lunch. I considered appliquing them, but decided that I didn't want to do that much applique.

Eeyore for dd1:

I love this, Eeyore is my favorite!
I really appreciate everyone comiserating with me about the housework. It's nice to know that I am not the only one who gets overwhelmed.

I went and got my ruffler foot and my serger today. I just need to fold the laundry after the girls go to bed tonight and then tomorrow morning I should be able to get some sewing in until it's time to go help out in my dd's Kind. class in the afternoon. I want to get my Halloween projects finished up. I bought some Christmas fabric for a twirly skirt today. I really shouldn't have, but it was calling my name.

Here is an outfit I made a couple of months ago. I haven't posted it yet because I haven't totally finished it yet. Maybe if I show what I have it will give me a little jump start!

Here's a cheerleading skirt that Drew wore a couple of weeks ago for our mini-cheerleader fundraiser with the High School cheerleaders. I actually made this one 5 years ago when my 10 year old was in Kind. and was a mini-cheerleader.

Now I am bummed because I had to call my older dd a 10 year old! Her B-day was yesterday and I am taking it a little hard that she is in the double diggits now.:scared1:
I absolutely love that guitar outfit!!!! WHERE did you find that fabric!!!???!!! It is so cute!

And, I'm loving that cute little cheerleader outfit! I have been thinking of making one like that for Lydia. Actually, it would be JUST like that! We are purple and white Wildcats! Did all the shcools go with a standard cat design now? They changed the logo here a few years ago, and now I see the same "Powercat" everywhere.

Arminda will be 10 in May, but me neice will be 10 next month! I can't believe it! Where did the time go???

You had a giant Raggedy Ann too!?! My Grandma made mine for me. Although, she had blonde hair and not red.

That is cute! I love the turkeys! Megan is going to look so cute in that!

Here's a chart that gives standard measurements for dress forms used by clothing designers/pattern makers. These should be close to the measurments of standard clothing, like Old Navy and such.

I actually started out cake decorating too...then beading... then scrapbooking...now sewing! :lmao:

This totally sounds like me-first scrapbooking, then stamping, then cake decorating, then beading, now sewing! I have officially ran out of room in the craft room!!!! I usually go overboard with any hobby so of course I have an ABUNDANCE of supplies!!! At least now my DD has started hanging out with me in the craft room and using up some of my supplies, well only the ones I can bear to part with! All of the others are for the "perfect" project! :rotfl2:

Teresajoy - We are the Purple and White (and grey I think) Wildcats too! How funny. I hadn't noticed the "power cat" on the t-shirt. Mostly I just see the standard wildcat on our stuff. We can find a lot of K-state stuff that works for us too. A lot of it just has the Wildcat on it and doesn't say K-State.

I got the guitar fabric at Hancocks. I've seen it at mine recently. I still have a lot of work to do on that, but I have let her wear it a couple of times. I want to embroider some more guitars on the jeans and I have a shirt that I want to applique a big guitar on that she can also wear with the jeans. I actually cut the jeans too short. I meant to leave them long enough that she could wear them with boots this fall. Oh well! I guess I'll have to get crackin and make some more outfits for her. I have some sock monkey fabric that I could always make work with boots.

GO WILDCATS!!!!!! I was torn this weekend though! I graduated from a "rival town" to the Wildcats and it was the homecoming for both! It was also the weekend of my, dare I say it? 20 year class reunion, and it stirred up that old hometown pride! Which is now of course, at direct odds with where I actually live! I now so want a t-shirt from my own school to wear around town! :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

I may just have to make a trip down to Hancocks to find that fabric!!! I want to make Arminda a Rock N RollerCoaster outfit. She road it for the first time this last year, and she was so proud of herself! Unfortunately, I couldn't take her, (newly discovered stinkin' medical condition)but Corey did.
