Hi all- I wanted to work on the "smocket" pattern from Teresa's bookmarks. When I clicked the file that was the pdf pattern a blank screen came up. SO I tried saving it to the hard drive and all I got was gobblygook...anybody have any tips? I am so computer illiterate!

Ok, I didn't get out of here early. BUT I am going to Joanns, this just means I have to pick up the tot first and it will be a bit more- um, magical
I did howver convince myself after reading tnmoms mathematic tute that I will make the halloween patchwork tier twirl.... What kind of mother would I be if I didn't. OOH!! I have a 50% off coupon, of course its only for 1 cut of fabric, maybe I could just get one, start cutting it and go another day w/ another coupon- it's not like I get anything done in one day anyway!!!
We'll see.

Hmmm...I need help! First, I can't decide if I want to change DD out of her "park" clothes & into her princess dresses for her princess meals. I am wondering, where can I change her before the meals? We are having dinner at Akershus on Sunday & Lunch in the Castle on Wed. Are there restrooms nearby? I know it will be too hot to wear those dresses all day so iwas hoping to change her for the pics. Any advice?

I know at the castle there is a bathroom right back by Dumbo and the Grotto. That is where we changed after our CRT breakfast.

Whew I was worried for a sec. I was thinking What!? Where!? Must...see...cool...fabric. Oilily is beeeeeauuuutiful and I love European patterns, sewing and knitting ones.

Where is TNMOMS mathematic tute?

For twirly skirts? I think it's in Teresa's bookmarks, but here is again.

Decide how long you would like the skirt to be and divide this number by 3. Add 1 inch for seam allowance. This will be how wide your strips should be.

Measure the child waist. Multiply this number by 2 and add 6 inches. This will be how long your first strip should be.

The second strip should be twice as long as the first strip.

The bottom strip should be twice as long as strip 2.

Close each strip into a circle.
Gather bottom strip on one side and sew to strip 2. Gather strip 2 and sew to strip one. Create a casing across the top and put in your elastic and hem the bottom.

FOR PATCHWORK - decide how many fabrics you are going to use, follow my example below:
For dd2 her waist is 19" x 2 = 38 BUT I used 39 because I was using three fabrics and 39 is easily divisible by three. So the first row had two of each fabric for a total of 6 patches x 6.5" = 39" total. Make sense?
2nd row had 12 patches (four each fabric)
3rd row had 24 patches (eight each fabric)

I don't remember at the castle, but there is a restroom right in Akershus. I changed my daughter in there after our breakfast ADR last year.

Immediately to the right after the hostess stand is a restroom, I too changed my daughter there before and after. Change her right after they give you a pager, once you are inside you will have pictures with one of the princesses before being seated. For us it was Belle.

My daughter has decided to be Barbie Island Princess as well. She LOVES the movie. Sadly, I am buying the dress from Target or Walmart. It's only $16. I just can't make it for that!

My DD3 wanted to be Tinkerbell and the Deluxe costumes at the Disney store were down from $79.99 to $34 online. After much debate and examining it, I bought it. Based on just buying the tulle for the skirt would be $15. It had pretty silver embroidered swirls on the front, with rhinestones on it. This way she can play with it afterwards all she wants too, and I'm not too worried about it. Something I spend hours on, I'd probably not let her play in it unsupervised.

Is Adobe opening up when you click on the link? I just tried it and it is working for me. Do you have the newest Adobe reader? Sometimes if I can't get a file to work properly, I go download a newer version and everything works.

hey everybody,

I found a new fabric website that has beautiful designer fabric. The Michael Miller fabric was cheaper there than anywhere else I've seen but they have some really expensive fabric from Oilily (can't afford their clothes or their fabric apparently $21/yard!!! ). All of the fabric was beautiful and they have some European patterns for sale also that look like the patterns I see some people using for their stuff they make on Ebay. I just like to look at the beautiful fabric, maybe one of these days I'll feel up to purchasing some of the expensive stuff but for now it's Wal-Mart, Hancocks, and JoAnn's for me. I can't imagine a hack like me using fabric that nice!

How did she like the Lion King?

I am just getting started on this pattern too. I am a little confused by the directions about cutting the tulle. I wish she was a little clearer with her directions but maybe I will understand it better after I get into it. Let's hope! I did the Bella Twirl Skirt from YCMT and her directions are very exact so it was a little easier to follow but that skirt had a ton of cutting - kind of like all of your patch skirts.

yep.. its a town thing.. I have had one kid place for the past 4 years. My poor kids.. the older ones Always had one for the contest and another of what they really want to be for Halloween night

I finally got finished with my purple princess toile dresses. I thought this project would never end (except for the times when I was ready to just chuck it). I ended up buying the white fabric 4 times because I kept running out (that'll teach me to modify patterns). Oh & one of those times 'white' did NOT mean white so some of the pieces don't really match. GRRR!!!!

Anyway here's dd4's dress:

I ended up buying the white fabric 4 times because I kept running out (that'll teach me to modify patterns). Oh & one of those times 'white' did NOT mean white so some of the pieces don't really match. GRRR!!!!

My daughters just told me they want My twinn dolls for christmas. I know if you order before October 7th they are $129, but does anyone know of any more or better discounts out there for them, or American Girl. My girls are mixed and have curly (not kinky) hair, so the my twinn definatally has more options. Also I love how they sculpt to look just like the girls facial structure and put birthmarks on them. Does anyone have one of the my twinn dolls to tell me how they hold up. Are they taller and thinner than American girl dolls?

A little off topic, so lets just say, if they get one, I'll make a mickey shirt for the doll .
