I'm in the process of tying on all of the tule pieces to make a skirt for my dd's pirate halloween skirt. Do I sew around the top to keep the "knots" from coming loose? 25 down and 75 more to knot! (Should be about 100 yds - one fluffy pirate!):scared1:

I can't wait to see! Good luck with the knots. :wizard:

I have the fleece to make three of these blankets. I haven't done it yet though. I don't want to sit under two layers of fleece when it is 90 degrees outside! :rotfl: I still have to cut the edges too.

Anyways, I was thinking I may want to add something to them. Ribbon or Rick rack or something.

Has anyone made these before? Anyone have any ideas?

I am making a Mickey blanket, a Pirate Blanket, and an Ariel Blanket.

I don't sew mine down. I just knot them - I've never had a problem.

Hi Everybody!
So...I finally tried to make something (rather than embellishing ready made clothing). I tried a twirly skirt and even put a JoJo ruffle (a la Lisa) on it...I am going to add more...just haven't quite finished yet. I know it's not as twirly as some, but what do you think??
Thanks!
Kay

So cute! I love the contrasting ruffle with each layer!

Ok, these pics aren't too bad considering I had to use my camera instead of dh's, a little light maybe, but oh well... I appliqued Cinderella on this fabric before putting it together to make a peasant top for dd6. I embroidered the face after watching those needlenthread.com video tutorials several times and practicing even more times. I still need lots of practice, but it's not too bad and dd6 loves it! I just hope I can get the peasant top put together without any problems!

I've completed quite a few other things but my model hasn't slowed down long enough for me to get pictures of her.

That looks great! I haven't worked up the nerve do applique more than a mickey head. I did handstitch the mouth on a Cinderella doll, but believe me, that did not increase my confidence any.

OMG that is PRECIOUS! Did you do it? She looks adorable. Now my question is can I bring my own trunk over and you can just pack me and take me with you. :rotfl: I did not realize you are going so soon! Have a great time. ;)

The petti was purchased, but I made the peasant top & corset. I didn't think that it would arrive in time, so when it got here today, I was just thrilled!

Bring your trunk, we'll have to check you at the airport, if that's ok!

... how the heck do you adhere the bottle caps to the front of the flip flops so that they stay? Hot glue isn't doing it!

Has anyone else made these? I'm afraid to wrap anything around the top of the flip flop in fear that it would rub against my DD's foot...

TIA!

I had no pattern for this I tried to make a twirl top for my oldest and since I want to surprise her for our day trip to Disneyland on sat I don't have pics of her modeling them.

OHHH, I love the ruffly trim, how did you do that? Do you have a serger?

Thanks to Lisa, I was able to do the ruffle. I just cut a two inch strip, zig zag finished the edges, put a basting stitch in to ruffle it and then sewed it on the skirt. Then I pulled the basting stitch out. Voila...ruffle :)

I made some flip flops like that...I wrapped grosgrain ribbon around the straps using hot glue to adhere it in place. Then I made a bow for the front and hot glued the bottle caps onto it. DD wore them around WDW and everything stayed in place. Hope this helps.

Melissa,
SO cute...I love the fabric!! Your daughter is going to be so excited. Have a great time :)

Just checked out your site with the clothes WOW do you paint them all free hand or do you use so kind of pattern (sp?) Either way SO Cool!!! You are very talented :cheer2:

I like the product "Heat n Bond Lite" for appliques it is similar to the wonder under but has a paper backing that after you cut out your applique pieces you just peel off the paper and put into place and iron the piece on. Then do your satin stitches around it. You can get it BTY at Joann's and Hancock. Don't forget to put a stablizer under the applique though which you can also get BTY at Joann's. Nana
I was just going to post that I use Heat 'n Bond Lite and then a stabilizer underneath the fabric, too.

WOW!! It doesn't get much cuter than that!! Great job on the top and corset and I love the pettiskirt. I think the seller deserves every penny for the pettiskirt, it would take forever to make!

Awww...how sweet! Very cute!

I swear, this is the only place that this question would seem normal. :rotfl2:

Gotta love Ariel! Great job!

Thanks! I was sure I'd need a serger to do that. I'm going to have to try it with the zig-zag stitch.

These are really cute. Did you use a special hot glue? I always buy the cheap stuff. Maybe that is why I have bad luck.
