Kidnapping is scary and something I never want to deal with again. I would not have shared this, but your post made me think of it.

My dd10 was kidnapped when she was a few months old. She was taken from a church nursery. My dh was out of town and I had no family in the area so I had no body to lean on. We did get her back and she was fine. It was somebody we knew that took her.

The person that took my Susie gave birth around the time I did. She gave her baby up for adoption. She told the person in the nursery that I told her to pick up Susie for me. She then took the baby and left the church. Her mom was the one that brought Susie back to me and told me her dd would be getting help for depression.

To this day I have trouble letting my dc out of my sight for any amount of time. The church we go to now requires id cards that match a tag the dc wear for pick up.

Sorry for going on about this. I try not to think about it and don't normally talk about it. This is the first time I have shared this with people I don't really know well.
You must have been so scared- So glad everything turned out well. I hope that lady got help, She must have been very sad about her life.

GOOD MORNING DISERS!!!!:surfweb: ok. That was all the energy I have for now.

I hope Nicholas is doing better. I wouldn't worry too much, little ones are so resilient. My DS broke both of his wrist bones when he was 18 months old. The Ortho said he'd be in a cast at least 4 weeks. We went back in 2 for a check up and they took his cast off. The Ortho was even surprised. So, you never know.

GRRR... I hate ruffles too. But I agree, w/ steph it will all be worth it when you see that first twirl!!!

...t.
Another toddler broken bone- Until dd broke her wrist I had never seen any little ones with broken bones- Now I see it is more common- She only had the cast for 3 weeks- So glad it wasn't six!!!

I've never glued my ricky rack. I just start sewing. If I need a line to follow I will use my ruler that goes with my rotary cutter and a fabric pen and draw one to center the rick rack on.

I pretty much think that you are going to need to tack any bows on by hand sewing. I know that there are some pretty good glues out there, but I can't think of any that would work with a bow that would be pulling and free at the ends.
Thanks :flower3:

I see I wasn't the only one up late last night!:scared: Stephres_ Love the shirt really cute! This is what I was up doing:
th_DSCF1690.jpg

This has been nothing but a thorn in my side from the start! I hope I can finish it today. BTW I HATE RUFFLES!!!!
Cute Cute Cute- Love the animal kingdom outfits they have really become my favorite!!

I have done a few different things but not sure what the recommended technique is. I have both sewn on ribbon and rick rack and also used fabric glue to attach. I prefer the sewn in look, the glue gives the clothing a stiff feeling. Maybe someone more experienced will chime in here.
Thanks :flower3:

You need to go back out to the Disney for Families Board, where the threads are listed. Find our Kid's Boutique thread. On the right side, it lists Replies. Click that number (16,858 right now) and a pop-up box appears. That shows you who has posted on the thread and how many times. HTH

Chantell ~ who made the list again! Whoohoo!

Only 56 for me- Thanks I knew it wa something simple just couldn't remember

Thanks for the nice words everybody!

I'll have to get the name of the fabric the next time I go into my quilt shop. It's a little shop in my little town and the ladies there are soooooooo nice!

We have a quilt shop near us that just expanded. Of course I had to go check it out. I found fabric that had pirate chests on it and co ordinating fabric that was all coins. I'm going to need a plan before I buy it since it's over $8 a yard. Too bad Kirsta has to wear a uniform to school. So I need special events for outfits. Our next Disney trip won't be for another year.

That is awful. I can only imagine how scared you were. Sometimes I think it is such a pain that our church nursery has pickup cards...like I've gone here since I was 7...you should KNOW me by now!! But that is exactly why they have a security system in place. Isn't that the last place you would expect someone to steal your baby. Oh, goodness, I am so glad she was recovered!

ok, here are 2 outfits I have been working on! sorry for the pics, I know I ususally doll them all up for pics here! she has her dance clothes on still also. ok, not finished w/ these yet have to add some shirts and then an apron for the thanksgiving outfit! but they are starting to be cute!

Really cute outfits posted today! Casey I love the black and white checkered one!!!

Just a little update on the posting here on the thread....Well here are the people who post 90 or more times. Heather you have to add your two up!;) I just love you guys!!!

Really, I don't talk all that much in real life!

Nicholas broke his foot....poor little guy...he is so brave....2 weeks ago when mommy picked him up at "school" he took one look at her and started to cry and limped to her...teacher didn't know what happened...he just started to cry when he woke up from his nap. Mommy called Daddy at work (jock and personal trainer) and he said, oh yea, forgot to mention he jumped down from slide and he was crying and limping, but he was ok....mommy wanted to take Nicholas to doc in am...Nicholas didn't want to go..and he said he was "all better now"...so yesterday am he woke up crying and he couldn't walk on his feet...he was on his knees due to pain...so, xray and orthopedic surgeon...and broken foot...in a walking boot...baby size...hope it heals in 5 weeks...we will be going to WDW!!!
Oh, poor Nicholas! I hope he heals fast! I remember when Heather broke her leg at 18 months. She had a cast, but it didn't slow her down a bit! She was one busy little girl! I wish I could find my favorite picture of her in that cast. She has what my Mom and I still call the "stinker twinkle". She was such a little doll!
Also, Sorry to make you feel old teresa. I just had to reply because it was just yesterday and I came on here and someone else was feeling the same way, it was like fate or something.

I'll try to get a wedding picture scanned in tomorrow. The Prom pics were a riot- and you were all so beautiful!!!
I got my dd an appointment to see the surgeon tomorrow so I'll be glad to get that all settled before the weekend. So glad I don't have to wait until NEXT friday.

Ahh, you didn't really make me feel old! :)

Ok, ladies, we need those wedding pictures! Let's get busy here! I know Heather and I have both posted ours before. I'll have to post them again if you don't get moving !:lmao:
Hi - here is my pair of lightly decorated jeans - front and back....hope it helps!! Wendy

I just love the way this turned out. The blue really does look great with it!

Is it wrong that one of my goals is to make the list of top posters. I will never achieve the success/fame of Teresa or Heather but a girl can dream.
Now, that is just funny!

Kidnapping is scary and something I never want to deal with again. I would not have shared this, but your post made me think of it.

Oh my gosh! That is just awful. I can only begin to imagine what you were going through. How long was she gone? I hope not long.

Wow! Thank you for sharing. Kidnapping is such a frightining experience and it will stay with you forever. I was nearly taken when I was 9. Long story short I had a knife at my throat and got away. I am now scared of the dark and watch my kids like a hawk! Even when they are playing in my back yard I am near a window where I can see them. If they go out of my sight I start yelling for them.

I always park my car under lights in parking lots, walk with my keys in my hand and lock my door as soon as I get into my car and into my house. It is just something I do to make myself feel safe.

I am so glad that your DD is ok and that she was returned. I am also very happy to hear that they require ID to pick up your child. It is so sad that it has come to that, but anything we can do to protect our children I am for.

Ok, off to happy thoughts now! :)

Oh, no, I am just in tears. My Arminda is 9, and I can't imagine something like this happening to her.

Not that it's the same thing, but a few years ago, my SIL spent the night, and had mentioned something about maybe picking up Corey from school. (I never told her she could) She left the next morning, without saying anything more about it. I hadn't sent a note to school with Corey, and my SIL was not on the approved list to pick him up. When his bus drove by our house without stopping, I was worried. I called the school, and no one was there (he had a very long bus ride, so by the time I realized he wasn't coming home, everyone was gone form the school). I called the bus garage but all they could tell me was he didn't get on the bus. Of course, I knew that my sil probably had picked him up, but I was also very very worried. The shcool had made a big deal of telling us that no one would be allowed to pick up our children without our permission, so I also thought he could have been taken. A few hours after he was suppose to be home, my SIL showed up with him. I was so mad and so relieved! I called the school the next day, to let them know how upset I was. Their response was, "Well, she seemed really nice."!!!:confused3 I was furious, because they NEVER admitted they did anything wrong!

If you see a really cute photopass guy (younger 20's blonde) named Joe tell him Denise said hi! He was great on our trip. We saw him everywhere. Ask him if he's had anyone do a handstand in any of his photopass pics?????:upsidedow
All I can picture is you doing handstands while wearing one of the skirts in your siggy...:lmao: I'll BET he remembers you!!

Heather's husband use to live near Cedar Point. Apparently he use to swim across and sneak in. (At least that's the way I understood it) Weird thing though, he doesn't like rollercoasters or amusement parks.
Yep, he'd put his flip flops on his hands and swim for the beach. I don't think this would be possible anymore, but he did it quite often "back in the day". He just went there to "pick up chicks". What kind of chicks he found being 13, soaking wet, wearing flip flops, I'll never know.

I don't have a wedding tiara, I wore a beaded headband. I guess I could borrow one of M's, she has plenty. I like that idea!

Look what I did today! I spent all day on it: it was hard!

th_100_1884.jpg

I didn't have the sleeve problems that Heather had because I did the short sleeves
Always taking the easy way out with the shorts sleeves. Just because you live in Florida...sheesh

Does anyone have pics of lightly decoupaged jeans. I am UBER picky and I just don't like the way they stop at the top of the leg...to me it looks like they didn't get finished. Has anyone decoupaged jeans w/ out doing the ENTIRE leg?
I couldn't miss the opportunity to post a picture of my decoupaged jeans and my little cutie wearing them. I put a strip around the top to "finish" them off.
10-1-07Tessawearingoutfit.jpg
10-1-07backclose.jpg

She is such a cutie and you did a great job on the outfit!

Ahhhh, don't we all wish our dh was more like Cpt Jack!!
Um....NO!

Sorry for the bug eyed look! She was wired last night and didn't want to calm down!
th_DSCN2776.jpg
th_DSCN2708.jpg
SEW cute!!! I love them both! My niece (not my sister's kid, my brother-in-law's kid) ALWAYS does the buggy eyes and bites her bottom lip when she smiles. Every picture of that child looks like she's possessed!

Okay Susan, I finally got some photos. This is how I manage to keep bows (even large ones) in fine baby hair. I forgot to take a photo of the Walmart elastics though :guilty:

These are the best clips I've found for staying put. I found them at a local craft store in the bead department. Really anything that hooks back into itself will work well (that sounds weird) but even alligator clips stay in okay.

Was it a craft store like joanns or michaels that you found them in or a little local craft store? Those are just what I have been looking for. Please and thank you for sharing.

I've got news for yah, we aren't exactly the cool kids :rolleyes1 (I speak only for me and my sister)

:rotfl: Epidural for a paper cut, you cracky me up!!

I like how you used the blue fabric- very original!

Is it wrong that one of my goals is to make the list of top posters. I will never achieve the success/fame of Teresa or Heather but a girl can dream.
Why do you think I haven't had such obnoxiously long multi-quotes!? I'm determined to move my way up the list!! :rotfl:

I have the "opposite" story to this. When my neice was younger my sister (her mom) was having medical issues (chemo, surgery) so my sister NEVER went to my neice's school. I worked for the school district and was usually the one picking my neice up, room mom etc. One day my sister tried to pick my neice up and they would not let her! (my sister never carries a purse or ID)The school called me telling me "a stranger" was trying to pick up my neice. My sister was not thrilled. I was able to get her calmed down when I pointed out how they were trying to protect her daughter. The school followed policy. The funny thing is they did not bat at eye when my "biker" dad showed up to pick my neice up. He had ID and it matched the card!

Toooo cute! Child and outfit that is!

To this day I have trouble letting my dc out of my sight for any amount of time. The church we go to now requires id cards that match a tag the dc wear for pick up.

Sorry for going on about this. I try not to think about it and don't normally talk about it. This is the first time I have shared this with people I don't really know well.

All of the kidnapping stories are sooooo SCARY! Ive thankfully had no experience with kidnapping but something I am terrified of happening! This is everyones worst nightmare!

There is!!!! A friend of the family broke her arm flipping off her dishes :lmao:

Cindee

I am laughing sooo hard right now!:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

Thanks everyone for the comments about the AK dress! :) That thing has been so ANNOYING I am glad you all like it! Now I just have to make another one, but quite a bit smaller!:sad2:

Wow, I don't know what to say. :grouphug:
My DD has not been kidnapped but I still don't let her out of my sight. As a parent I don't think you can be too careful. There are tooo many crazy people out there. And sadly they are everywhere. One of the kids I grew up with in a VERY small town is a registered offender. My cousin was riding her bike past his house everyday and no one in my family knew it. My Aunt put a stop to it as soon as she found out!

Cindee

Cindee, I'm afraid you're going to have to elaborate on that one. Was she giving her dishes the finger???

Does Heathers new position change mine, cause frankly I was a little bummed I didn't make the top 10:sad2:

PS. I decided that for the money I'd spend in supplies (having NONE) and knowing I would have way too much left over I thought I'd check :wizard: for hair bows... I found 1 hairbow, not too special as far as hairbows go....the starting bid was 14.99, of course it had NO bids, but a bit of time left. Do people really get 14.99 for 1 bow or is this crazy???

SO anyone willing to make bows for me or resell some to me give me a shout!!! I need them for DD's AK dress. Possibly for her halloween one too....

...t.

I had her back in my arms by the next morning, but it seemed like a lot longer.
That sounds like a VERY long time anyways! I can't imagine going through the night not knowing where my baby was or if she was ok. :grouphug: Heck, I couldn't imagine going through the night without my baby even if I DID know where she was and she was ok! :grouphug:

I have the "opposite" story to this. When my neice was younger my sister (her mom) was having medical issues (chemo, surgery) so my sister NEVER went to my neice's school. I'm glad you were able to calm her down. The school really did do the right thing, although, if it was ME not being allowed to pick up my own child, I would have been royally MAD too! But, they just can't let a child go with someone they have never met with no ID.

Oh and SONGS!!! Come on guys, you gotta have some favorite songs out there. Maybe I was not clear...I am looking for songs to cover, not neccessarily songs that have been covered. ( a cover is when someone sings a song originally recorded by someone els....I grew up w/ musicians so I'm not sure if this is just jargon or if it's common knowledge:upsidedow )

I remember when Heather broke her leg at 18 months. She had a cast, but it didn't slow her down a bit! She was one busy little girl! I wish I could find my favorite picture of her in that cast. She has what my Mom and I still call the "stinker twinkle". She was such a little doll!

Ok, ladies, we need those wedding pictures! Let's get busy here! I know Heather and I have both posted ours before. I'll have to post them again if you don't get moving !:lmao:

Here's a picture of me in my cast. They weren't nearly as colorful way back then! That's our pretty mom next to me.

Was it a craft store like joanns or michaels that you found them in or a little local craft store? Those are just what I have been looking for. Please and thank you for sharing.

It was in a large local craft store called Roberts. I think it is only in Utah and Idaho. I believe they are still owned by Provo Craft. It is very similar to a Michaels or Joanns with no fabric. :sad2: It took me forever to find them over with the beads, but I'll let you know if I ever run into them at Joanns or Michaels.

I just received this email and wanted to share! I love to do things to support our troops and think everyone should! Even if you don't support the war you should at least support the men and women who risk their lives for us every day! Thanks!
If you go to this web site http://www.letssaythanks.com/Home1024.html you
can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to
a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq . You can't pick out who gets
it, but it will go to some member of the armed services.

How AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone we know to send one!!!
This is a great site. Please send a card. It is FREE and it only takes a
second. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received several of these
card s?
