My older (7 and 8 year old) daughters saw the crayon braclets that I made for the twins and got so upset. They thought I was so unfair! :sad1: Now, come on ... do you really think I would do for 2 and not the others? Of course I made something for my big girls. :hug: Here is there necklaces;

Hi! Okay If anyone from the Hampton Roads Area is on this thread Please PM me! Reason is I was wondering if they would like to share expenses for a Road Trip to the one and ONLY Hobby Lobby in the entire state????? :lmao: The darn thing is 198 miles away! I have four Hancocks fabric stores within 20 miles of my home but only this one Hobby Lobby:confused3 :confused3 Nana

I live in the area, but I usually go to Joanns or order online.

198 miles? That's way too far. lol

Yesterday I spent $200 at Joann's on fabric to make 3 princess dresses, and 4 other outfits for my grandchildren. The clerk as always asked me what I was making, and like the old foolish woman I am, I choked back tears and said it was for my granddaughter who is 2 1/2...that she is my heart and how much I love her and for my 3 year old grandson who was adopted from a Russian orphanage.

As she was adding up my bill, she said "That's a lucky little girl and boy" to which I replied, no, I am the lucky one, so blessed to have them in my life....

Just think of how blessed we are to have children, grandchildren, and we live here in the USA where everything is so plentiful...my DGS was 13 months when he finally from Russia, and he didn't have milk, no bottle, no diapers, no soap, no sheets, no mommy, no daddy, only his thumb, and some gruel 3 times a day and sweet tea from a tin cup...we truly are blessed...

Peer pressure I say... I bought a ruffler foot online today, just waiting for it to arrive so I can tackle some bigger projects. I HATE ruffling by hand.

Very cute dress! I agree about the ruffles! I hate doing it by hand, but I need help finding a ruffler foot. I've looked online and they are over $50, how is everyone getting them for less than $20? I'd like to pick one up on Friday, but not sure where or how.

Beautiful! I want to make dd2 some Minnie pants like this, it's on the list!

My latest creation, not Disney, but I am so pleased with how it came out. I used a pattern from YCMT. Ignore the pants, she insisted she needed pants this morning despite that fact that it is over 80 degrees already.

I love your fabrics...Very nice...I also thought the pants went with it until you said something

I was watching those Peter Pan beads but the price was too rich for my blood. Glad that you got them.

Here is my latest sewing creation. It is for MousekaMaddi's daughter, she helped design the outfit. I think it turned out pretty cute.

Great work on all the things posted already.

Very cute indeed! I like the pants...Did you use a pattern (pls share if you did) or did you come up w/this yourself?

Jenn-

I always hear about how much clothes my girls have! It gets old. It is mostly with my Dad's girlfriends family. She has kids my age and they have kids too. One of the grandkids said I have never seen your daughter in anything other than a dress. My answer was well- that is what she like to wear.

I know it was brought up not long ago but, I am very specific with how I dress my girls. I want to make sure they are neat, clean and presentable. I know it sounds kind of funny but I want the outside to reflect the inside. They are great girls and the truth is first impressions count.

I get a lot of grief from people in my family. My sister (who buys her outfits all of the time so I really don't get this comment) tells me "you are making it seem like clothes and looks are the most important thing." I almost cried. I just want her to look cute. I work really hard, and pretty much hate my line of work most days, but having my daughter (and sons too by the way) look good, makes me feel good. I also feel super guilty about her starting daycare, and having worked with children pretty much all of my adult life, I do know that cute kids, and cute dressed kids get more attention. It's just a fact. I'm not saying its right! I want her to stand out a little...

Nobody out bid yeah and oh CR@P!!!

You can check out my treasure.

Peter* Pan*!- Polymer clay beads/ Veronicrafts

He*ffalump* Halloween- Polymer clay beads/ Veronicrafts

the Gre@t Pumpkin*! - Polymer clay beads/ Veronicrafts

I was watching all of these auctions. The bidding went too high. They are darling though.

It says "Blame my sister." When we were school shopping he discovered the graphic t-shirts at Target and I let him get a few. Now they are all he wears! His favorite that he wears as often as I wash it says "I finish all my homework before playing video games" but certain letters are highlighted to spell "I am lying." He loves that shirt!

I am going to Target tomorrow. I hope they have the "I am lying" tee for my son. It would be so perfect. He is a Ps2 junkie. It's true, I've seen him go through withdraw and its NOT a pretty sight!

Well Aimee, if you decide to go maybe we can get all the MD and VA disers together and make a party of it. :)

Oh please count me in! If it's near Baltimore, its only 3 hours away from me. A simple day trip really.

It all began to make sense, the blank stares, the lack of response, the way one of the kids will walk into the room while I'm on the phone and ask to be taken to the store. Inside I'm thinking, "Can't you see I'm on the phone?" Obviously not. No one can see if I'm on the phone, or cooking, or sweeping the floor, or even standing on my head in the corner, because no one can see me at all.

I'm invisible.

Some days I am only a pair of hands, nothing more: Can you fix this?
Can you tie this? Can you open this?

Some days I'm not a pair of hands; I'm not even a human being.
I'm a Clock to ask, "What time is it?" I'm a satellite guide to answer, "What
number is the Disney Channel?" I'm a car to order, "Right around 5:30,
please."
I was certain that these were the hands that once held books and the
eyes that studied history and the mind that graduated summa cum laude
- but now they had disappeared into the peanut butter, never to be seen
again.

She's going . she's going . she's gone!

One night, a group of us were having dinner, celebrating the return of a
friend from England. Janice had just gotten back from a fabulous trip,
and she was going on and on about the hotel she stayed in. I was sitting
there, looking around at the others all put together so well. It was
hard not to compare and feel sorry for myself as I looked down at my
out-of-style dress; it was the only thing I could find that was clean.
My unwashed hair was pulled up in a banana clip and I was afraid I could
actually smell peanut butter in it. I was feeling pretty pathetic, when
Janice turned to me with a beautifully wrapped package, and said, "I
brought you this."

It was a book on the great cathedrals of Europe. I wasn't exactly sure
why she'd given it to me until I read her inscription:
"To Charlotte, with admiration for the greatness of what you are
building when no one sees."

In the days ahead I would read - no, devour - the book. And I would
Discover what would become for me, four life-changing truths, after
which I could pattern my work: No one can say who built the great
cathedrals - we have no record of their names. These builders gave their
whole lives for a work they would never see finished.
They made great sacrifices and expected no credit. The passion of their building was fueled by their faith that the eyes of God saw everything.

A legendary story in the book told of a rich man who came to visit the
cathedral while it was being built, and he saw a workman carving a tiny
bird on the inside of a beam. He was puzzled and asked the man, "Why are
you spending so much time carving that bird into a beam that will be
covered by the roof? No one will ever see it."

And the workman replied, "Because God sees. "

I closed the book, feeling the missing piece fall into place.
It was almost as if I heard God whispering to me, "I see you, Charlotte. I see the sacrifices you make every day, even when no one around you does.
No act of kindness you've done, no sequin you've sewn on, no cupcake
you've baked, is too small for me to notice and smile over. You are
building a great cathedral, but you can't see right now what it will
become."

At times, my invisibility feels like an affliction. But it is not a
disease that is erasing my life. It is the cure for the disease of my
own self-centeredness. It is the antidote to my strong, stubborn pride.

I keep the right perspective when I see myself as a great builder. As
one of the people who show up at a job that they will never see
finished, to work on something that their name will never be on. The
writer of the book went so far as to say that no cathedrals could ever be
built in our lifetime because there are so few people willing to
sacrifice to that degree.

When I really think about it, I don't want my son to tell the friend
he's bringing home from college for Thanksgiving, "My mom gets up at
4 in the morning and bakes homemade pies, and then she hand bastes a turkey for three hours and presses all the linens for the table."
That would mean I'd built a shrine or a monument to myself. I just want
him to want to come home. And then, if there is anything more to say to
his friend, to add, "You're gonna love it there."

As mothers, we are building great cathedrals. We cannot be seen if we're
doing it right. And one day, it is very possible that the world will
marvel, not only at what we have built, but at the beauty that has been
added to the world by the sacrifices of invisible women.

To all of you who are building cathedrals...many blessings!
Susan

Thank you for posting this. It is beautiful. :cloud9:

OK just really wanted to post to see if I figured out the siggy thing, but did find it funny yesterday when we were "school shopping" that my daughters saw lots of twirly skirts...they said see mom they are really "in" this year ( I made them some for disney)...I kept thinking...I could make that....

nope..it didn't work...try again

there it is !!

thanks revrob:love:

note - I only had to save it too my computer then when editing siggy there is a spot onthe bottom to add a photo from your computer...I did it there...remember to hit save siggy...which I forgot first time !

Very cute indeed! I like the pants...Did you use a pattern (pls share if you did) or did you come up w/this yourself?

Thanks, I used McCall's 5088 but I modified the top by making the skirt part wider and adding the ruffles and the capris I just added the ruffles to the bottom. It's not the easiest top pattern the first time but this was my third one so no seam ripper needed this time. The capris are pretty simple to make.

Hey mom - guess what I found??? There's a Hobby Lobby in Ocala, according to their website!!!

Hey, I would love to! My grandparents, when they were alive, lived in Ocala. I don't remember a Hobby Lobby there. Oh, and there's a three banana minimum on this thread I believe:

For those that like to applique - just found this paperdoll site it's REALLY cool - there are a few broken links but still worth the look! I am STILL Looking for a "easy" Sailor Girl pattern for a cruise outfit (non disney)!!!

PAPER DOLLS!!!

Stephers - Where in Ocala - I used to live up there!!!!

Ugh! I hate when my current projects are almost done minus buttons or half a ruffle! I am OUT of $$$ and am sitting here with almost done lovely creations. I do daycare so I sometimes am paid randomly Plus I'm down to 2 daycare buddies, which really makes the money tight. I need 3 to survive and have "extra" money. Pooh! I don't tend to buy enough fabric and have to go back for more. Then I need more ric-rac or whatever. I hate spending! No, I LOVE spending, just not when we're saving our pennies for WDW in 24 days...which zero is actually saved. Stressin'!:scared:
