My serger comes tomorrow - the Brother model and I only paid $234, no tax, no shipping on Amazon.com. I am going to have that baby smoking by tomorrow night - have always wanted one, and now I DO!

Got 7 patterns from YCMT and fabric galore...can't wait to start surging:cool1:

I am making a patchwork twirl skirt. It's my first patchwork but my 4th twirl skirt. I'm wondering how I increase the twirl factor. Should I make each tier bigger? Right now I am doing a waistband at 20, tier 1 = 30, tier 2 = 45, tier 3 = 67ish. Should I make them bigger? Will that make it more twirly? I feel like they are not getting enough twirl factor on them with these measurements!

OH I wish I had something. I go totally weak every time I go to the local boutiques. I'd been out of them for awhile because my boys no longer appreciate looking "cute". Now I have a baby girl and oh my have I lost my mind. :rolleyes1

Who did you order from? I keep looking at them and I always come back to the Kaiya Eve ones.(There's a couple others I like but the cost is not that much different and either they have a better photographer or I just like the looks of them better) Now if I could just commit to a color:laughing: Please share what you chose and who did you order from..thanks.

I'll have to find the link - it is an individual that somehow orders from the company. I'll find the link and post it (it may be tomorrow at this point - I'm about to turn in!)

I went to Hobby Lobby today and found these cute fabrics. I don't think I have ever seen the Princess one before. I didn't know how much I would need of each one so I just bought the whole bolt. I figure what I don't use I can sell!

That leopard Santa print is getting pretty good prices on Voldemort. You should definitely consider listing some especially since you have the matching leopard print, too.

Hello Friends.......
Ive been lurking, aka drooooooooooling for MONTHS now...I do not sew, nor do I endeavor to!!:rotfl2: ...but, I do own an upscale childrens clothing boutque and am dying for my DD4 to have some amazing sets to wear to MVMCP in Nov. .........anyone want to trade newborn to size 7 girl AND boy-boutique clothing for a set? PLEase please please puuuuuuuuleaseeeeeee pm me if u do, did I say Please???;) :lmao:

I also carry those pettiskirts by Kaiya, theyre spectacular! Cant wait to see more of your stuff in pettiskirt style-

Oh, I would so love to have a pettiskirt for my DD. I've been "watching" some on Voldemort here and there but just can't bring myself to pay those prices. Not that they aren't worth it but...

 Okay,

Forty total minutes from taking the serger out of the box to threading, serger and restarting the computer! Woo Hoo! I do not know how I lived without it and I do not know what I was scared off. Now I wish DH was not asleep so I could thank him properly!:woohoo:

Woohoo! Sergers are definitely a wonderful tool. I was scared of getting one at first and now don't know what made me think they were so intimidating.

I am making a patchwork twirl skirt. It's my first patchwork but my 4th twirl skirt. I'm wondering how I increase the twirl factor. Should I make each tier bigger? I prefer to double my measurements for full-on twirl potential. :cool2: That makes the first tier 40", second 80" and third 160". I usually add a narrower fourth tier of 320". It's a lot of fabric to gather but it's hard to go back to anything less. :rotfl:

So irritated... got a Disney Brother machine for my b-day and I can't get it to work right. The tension is wonky and no matter what I do I can't get the bobbin thread to stay straight. I know CastleCreations has this machine. Any help you might offer?? Oh, and it caught the upper thread in the bobbin case when I was trying a Mickey Head embroidery. Ugh...

PS...It's my b-day today, too, tberi.
We were born on the same day! :cool1:
Happy birthday!

Hi All!
I have been away from the computer most of the day - I need to play catch up! Sorry for all the pics - but I had to share. The first two are of DD two years ago when she donated her hair to Locks of Love - the next three are from today when she had another 11 inches cut to donate. This is the shortest it has ever been - and was a little bittersweet for both of us!

Oh no no no no you did not just do this to me. Here I was happy I didn't need one of those because I do digital scrapbooking not paper. Oh well goodbye money. :rotfl2: That is so cool your DD is doing LofL again. I did that last year after my pregnancy and I am sure I will do it again if we have another one. I won't cut my hair when I am PG because I think the hormones would make me get an ugly haircut. ha ha, I know I am a strange one.
LOL! I need to play with it a bit. It doesn't do intricate cuts well - and may be expensive to keep sharp blades in - but it is pretty neat! Yes - I know those pg hormones - best to stay away from the scissors (at least keep your hair away from them)! :)

She's pretty with short or long hair and even prettier on the inside which counts even more. What a sweetheart for donating her hair for other little girls that need it at such a bad time in their lives. I love children with lots of heart...

The cricut machine thingie has long been on my wish list.
For scrapbooking.
which I never get around to doing. Well, I finished my scrapbook for my 2005 trip.

but to know that it works on fabric!
argh!

you people are evil! :)

Sorry!;) Now don't you all go run out and buy it yet - I haven't properly tested it! LOL

Not clothes, but here is a pillowcase we made for character autographs on our cruise. I'm planning on having them sign on the yellow part with a black marker. I thought it would make a cute souvenir for DD. Her name is on the other side in the same Disney font.

What a great idea!!!!

Too cool, I knew I bought this for a reason. Now I can justify the cost of the machine and "having" to get the Disney cartridges (that I have never used BTW):rotfl: I can't wait to try this!!! Maybe tomorrow since it is supposed to rain all day again!

Can't wait to see what you do! I didn't get time to play much with it today. I think it will do great with letters.

Your daughter is an angel for donating her hair. And what a cutie as well! My dd saw her photo of the heart braid and said HEY that looks like me :)

What a thoughtful little one you have.

Okay guys this is off topic, :offtopic: but I need help with a reward for my oldest dd. She has stepped in and taken up the slack for me this past year while I have been ill. She has been super responsible and I couldn’t have made it through without her help. The kicker to all of this is that Saturday I was having a horrible day and I couldn’t seem to function at all. I wanted to sew but I couldn’t and then I tried to get on here, but that wasn’t great either. She knew I wanted to get more items finished and that I was disappointed in myself for not being able to. So without a word, she came and set down in front of me with all this stuff and started to massage my feet and then gave me a pedicure with polish! :sad1:

The question is, what do I do for her to let her know how much I appreciate her? I thought about a pedicure for her at WDW while we are there. Is that a good reward, or is it too much, or not enough? I would like to surprise her at WDW, but I don’t know what to do. :confused3 BTW, she is 12 years old. Thanks guys, Cassandra

Since my Mom has my sewing machine I have been busy cutting away. I did DD's first day of school dress pattern, a halloweenie dress, and Meg!

Also, here are the fabrics for Hannah's preschool dress. It is the start to a strip work skirt. These are the yellow polkie dots from Jo Ann's

I really want to do a sock monkey outfit for DD. Where did you find the fabric? I haven't really looked yet - but thought I would ask where to start!

I don't know if anyone answered you or not, but I just took off my whole presser foot, from the screw, not just the clip. Then I just asked for help at Hancocks. They told me that the "high" type has a slant to it, so if your foot doesn't have a slant to it, then it is probably a "low" foot. Hope this kind of helps!

thank you thank you thank you. I have a low foot. Yahoo... I found the right foot for it on voltemort

Something tells me he wouldn't mind if you woke him up:rotfl:

Thank you! I am having a hard time with how grown up she looks. My "babies" are going into 2nd grade!
