hello everyone,

haven't had much chance to get onto the boards lately as i have had 4 kids (and 1 husband-who was an even bigger baby) sick with the flu. there has been a awful flu going around here lately that has actually killed a few children and a 40 year old man. so there are alot if nervious parents over here closely watching every cough and checking temps.

with the kids being sick and all wanting extra cuddles ( i have my 11 month old on my lap right now, he is the latest to get sick) my sewing time suffered.

i made an ariel dress for my dd6 but i have messed up the straps because when she puts it on the front puckers out too much(halterneck). i also messed up on the ariel applique. i cheated my doing her face on my embroidery machine and accidently set the machine to do her nose in black thread. so them i realised i would have to do all her skin outlined in black otherwise her nose would stand out to much. anyway here is a photo but i think it would look better if her skin and nose where done in a brownish tan colour. (p.s this is an outfit i CASEd from another outfit i saw a while ago on that little auction site;) ) front-

it was my dd3 birthday yesterday (18 aug) so i stayed up until 3am on friday to make this little einstein top for her. i didn't make the actual top- it was store brought- i just decorated it! she was so excited to wear it on her birthday until my mum gave her a dora pj so then she wanted to wear that instead. so in all of the pics i have of her blowing out her candles she is wearing pjs!

Great job on the outfits! I hate it when DH is sick - I can handle the kids - but he is pathetic - LOL - he will admit it too.

I just love it. I am going to make skirts for my girls, mixed with orange and black dot materiel.

Lori, I just LOVE those outfits!

You guys make me realize I just have to keep sewing to get any better. I'm one of those people who just likes to be instantly good at something and very rarely am I. :) I tried to sew some ruffles on the butt of some pants for Ilana and I failed miserably. I ended up just tossing the whole project. :(

Don't give up! Keep going. each time you make a mistake you are learning. that is what is the fun part. I try tougher and tougher projects all the time. but you know sometimes the most simple outfit always looks the best!
your kids will wear all your items w/ pride and will never know how many times it was ripped apart. keep going you'll soon be sewing up a storm!

I have done the same many times. I finally got smart, and picked a pattern, that was very simple. I built my confidence with it, and each thing I do I try to add something I haven't done before. Now I can reuse the patterns I first used, and they are cinch! I don't even use the seam ripper on those anymore!!!:thumbsup2

Stepmom,

I think it looks like Mickey myself. And since you are going on a Disney cruise, I'm thinking Mickey's gonna be on the brain and EVERYONE but DH will know it's Mickey! :cool1:

Confession: The number of to do projects and the amount of fabric I have far exceeds my skill level and my free time.

Ok, now that I have that off my chest....
I have been hoping this dress would go on sale and instead it sold out :scared1:
instylekids_1962_616175553

Oops, I guess I played that wrong.
So now I have to add it to my Things I Want to Learn to Make list.

Hopefully by next summer I will be up for it. Although I doubt in my version the bottom ladybug will hang down below the hem like this one.

Lori, love the minnie outfits...such cute fabrics.
Melissa, Beautiful applique work. Great job on Ariel and Annie.

If anyone is up right now... I CAN'T GET MY MINNIE DOT'S TO MATCH!!! Grrr. matching pattern is a super pet peave of mine and I am going NUTS!!!

...t.

Me too!!! I thought I was crazy!!! I spent so much time on those dots. I ended up getting a T square out!

Heather...I love your "love story". ..I read it and cried :sad1: :flower3: happy tears! You and Teresa are so funny together...I like that you look out for each other and are so close. I hope my little ones are the same way when they grow up!

Thank you!! We're going to have to rename this the "sap thread" if we're not careful! ;) I'm sorta sad that my daughter won't have a sister to grow up with. I hope she and her brother are closer than me and my brother are!

Did I ever show you all my Back to school Preppy Minnie set. Josephine loved this set!

I love the set and I love Josephine's name. My grandma-in-law is named Josephine and I just love her! We even named our dog Josie after her (she thought it was funny, luckily).

I was just getting back online, and I said something about how cute your daughter was to my son, and he said, "You mean that little girl that looks like a mix between Lydia and Tessa?" I never thought about it before, but she does!

Oh my gosh, he's right!! Lydia's eyes and the shape of Tessa's face! Maybe she has the same UPS guy we do! :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: I'm kidding! I'm kidding!

seeing your cute patootie little one almost makes me want to have my own...almost...see I have this FEAR of childbirth...and toddlers...and teenagers...and what if I have BOYS?! ;)

I was terrified of childbirth after witnessing my sister's 36 hour labor, followed by a ceserean. But, I had pretty easy labor with both of my kids. It is totally worth it and boys are great!!

Love your Story! My hair was about that big, too! :rolleyes1

Thanks, I didn't think anyone would read it! I think my hair was relatively small. I always wanted it to get bigger! :rotfl:

Sorry to hear about your family getting sick. My little Sawyer (14 months) was really sick all week. I guess the flu is going around pretty bad in our area right now, too.

I LOVE the Ariel outfit! You are an expert applique-er! The Little Einsteins one is terrific, too!

Okay, how the heck do you get the pictures to show up smaller when you multi-quote?

I am thinking of doing this to go with a skirt for my DD to wear on the cruise. Keep in mind it is only pinned and the pattern is still in the middle, but does it look like a mickey head to you? My hubby thinks it is a heart, but I am about over asking him his opinion. So what do you think?

I think it looks like a Mickey head!

I got some cute fabric today! Martha Negley Cupcakes fabric. I will have to post pics later. A lady I know opened a fabric/yarn store, ooooo dangerous.

Maybe she could get the inside scoop on the Jasmine fabric...?

Melissa, sorry to hear that everyone has been sick. I hope they are all better soon  I've been working on an Ariel applique and I must say that yours is beautiful! I'm also considering something for Little Einsteins, but not sure I want to attempt another applique so soon, but your Annie is superb!

I think it would look better if you made 3 complete circles out of the flowers- can you place more flowers take a pic and post it just so we can see how it would look??

That's kind of what I was trying to do. The pants patterns I have are super easy, but I was trying to foofoo it up a little w/ some ruffly butt and it didn't work out. I'm thinking I need to just make a pair of pants out the material I have and try this again w/ some $1 material from waldemort? (I can't keep up w/ the codes, lol). We only have 3 wks till we leave and I still have quite a few things to do so better done than really cute and not everything finished.

Opinions please !

Search Voldemort for Zoe custom boutique Halloween please and let me know what you think.

I bid on this. I was thinking perfect for the Princess and Pirate Party in January. You know..origional...not too princessey, plus a Pink, Jack Skellington to boot. And long sleeved for the cooler nights. Well now I'm not so sure. Is it more costume for Halloween? It would probably be better for Mickeys NSSHP, but we're not going then. May be another one of those "itchy bidder finger" auctions where I hope I get outbid.:confused3

I just bought 14 Simplicity patterns for 99 cents each today (plus my wonderful sister got me one yesterday)!! But, I realized that every one I got for my 14 month old son is going to be WAY too big. I want to make him some flannel pajamas, but the XS in the patterns is size 4-5 and he wears between an 18 months and a 2T. Is there an easy way for me to resize these patterns for him, or am I going to have to wait until he grows?

Here's the pattern I wanted to use:

I bought some really cute Mickey Mouse flannel fabric (it's called "Packed Vintage Mickey"). He LOVES Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. He was screaming in the car on the way home, so I handed him the fabric in desperation and he immediately stopped crying and started pointing to Mickey and saying "Dat, Dat".

mmmm, when I see Jack Skellington, I automatically think Halloween. But I guess it could work, I mean it's princessy and extremely cute!

I just love the outfits posted today. The plaid/check one, the pirate, the candy corn and the ariel/annie. Adorable!!!!!!! That Annie turned great, I bet she was tough too!

hkite, yeah I think it is more halloween. Maybe if you put a crown with it instead she can be the princess of halloweentown. :)

Yep I am a little worried. Although she could maybe wear it for Halloween and the P & PP?? I figure if I do win, and try it on and we hate it, I'll just re list it. I did see one of her other auctions went for a pretty big sum though, so it all may be a moot point.
